Other mistake: Before their next shift starts, when Johnny walks into the locker room whistling he turns the corner and walks through the doorway between the dorm and locker room, but what's odd is that right behind him there's a brick wall instead of the dorm.

Revealing mistake: En route to the pick-up truck hanging from the freeway on-ramp, there is a flipped shot of Engine 51 and Squad 51 as they drive under the freeway before the camera pans in towards the car. Some giveaways are the reversed '51' on Engine 51 and the reversed 'road construction ahead' sign.

Other mistake: At the start of shift, after Roy digs into Johnny for calling Joanne, Station 51 is dispatched to the children lost in the flooding storm drain and time out is 08:32. Then at the scene, the officer says that they got a report about two missing boys two hours earlier, and that a witness saw teenagers pull up the manhole cover just before noon, and another witnessed the two boys playing around the open manhole. So what time is it supposed to be - early in the morning or some time in the afternoon? The times just don't sync.

Visible crew/equipment: After Gage and DeSoto climb the ladder to get the dog off the roof the second time, when it cuts to Rampart there is a man waiting outside the treatment room, and the actor's tape mark is visible on the floor, at his feet.

Continuity mistake: When DeSoto starts to crack about what's upsetting him, Gage places a mop beside another mop, up against the door and it falls over. Next shot both mops are upright and in different positions as well.

Other mistake: While 51's guys are at the accident scene by the freeway on-ramp, when Roy's standing on the ladder and says the car door's jammed, Captain Stanley tells Chet and Marco to get the Porta Power, but subtitles read "Jack, Marco, we need the Porta Power," even though there's no character named Jack. Subtitles from Universal Studios 2010 DVD.

Other mistake: Jamie Farr appears in 2x19 "Boot" as Alan Austen, the guy who claims that he can't move his arm because of a curse, but he's mistakenly listed in the credits at the end of this episode.

Other mistake: After Roy tells Captain Stanley, over the HT, that he and Johnny may have found something in the flooding storm drain, Captain Stanley uses his HT to contact Marco and Chet (who are driving Squad 51 while John and Roy are down below), and says "Squad 51, Engine 51..," but the subtitles read, "Car 51, Engine 51..." Subtitles from Universal Studios 2010 DVD.

Audio problem: At the start of the episode, while Johnny's mopping and Roy's fidgeting with the resuscitator, during their conversation, in the background we hear Captain Stanley talking to the other guys in the kitchen. The key words we hear Cap say are, "New problem location in our area...Molded products...Cardboard cartons...Two rows, aisles in between, up to 8 ft high...Bottoms get soaked." Then we hear Cap repeat, "New problem locations in our area," and continues, "1806 North Oak," and we hear all the guys laugh, though nothing's funny. Captain Stanley's dialogue is from 2x1, "Problem," at the start of that episode.

Visible crew/equipment: When Squad 51 responds to 'man injured', when they arrive at the house, Johnny asks Roy if there's a dog on the roof, and it cuts to a shot of Sheba, the dog, just as she glances toward the tree, and behind the tree we can see the moving legs of a crew member, likely Sheba's trainer.

Revealing mistake: When Johnny and Roy are in the storm drain searching for the two missing boys, all the walls have very distinctive water stains and markings, and the same walls and drains keep repeating, no matter the distance they have walked.

Continuity mistake: After Johnny has gotten Sheba off the roof, he and Roy stand by ladder as Sheba takes off after the cat again, and in the shot of the dog running across the roof Roy and Johnny are gone - the ladder stands alone, but in the next shot the paramedics are by the ladder again. Also note that the door behind the ladder is alternately closed or open, depending on the shot.

Visible crew/equipment: When Johnny climbs the ladder and then picks up Sheba to carry her off the roof, the outline of the mic transmitter is visible on the back of his shirt. Additionally, as he's lifting Sheba the big dog pushes up against the front of Johnny's shirt, and we hear the crackling noises that were picked up on Johnny's hidden mic.

Continuity mistake: When Roy and John are in the apparatus bay talking about Joanne, just after Roy walks away, Boot steals the armboard splint package with the writing facing up in his mouth, but when Boot hides under the squad the reverse side is up in his mouth.

Continuity mistake: When Johnny and Roy have to go in search of the two boys lost in the storm drain, the air cylinder that Johnny grabs from the squad has two large red stickers, but when Roy and Johnny climb down below, Johnny's air cylinder has changed - both of their tanks now have the large arrow stickers.

The Promise - S3-E11

Trivia: During Richard's rescue from the ledge at Rampart, the snorkel that Roy and Brackett climb onto is Truck 127, from Station 127 aka Station 51. Truck 127 is used in many episodes requiring a snorkel, including 1x6, "Dealer's Wild" and 3x16, "Fools." There's a particularly nice shot at the end of this episode, when Engine 51 and Squad 51 are parked parallel to each other, and when Johnny responds to dispatch that Squad 51 is available, Truck 127 drives away between 51's vehicles. Nice touch.

Question: Why is the driveway in front of the station always wet? Day or night, whenever they pull in or out it looks like it was just hosed down.

Answer: It is standard practice to wet down driveways so that they stand out in a long shot.
