Hearts and Minds - S1-E13

Continuity mistake: When Boone is tied up, with the goo in his hair, Locke has only his backpack slung over his left shoulder, when he holds the sheath in his left hand as he raises his right arm to throw the knife. After a brief cut to shocked Boone, Locke is in mid-throw and suddenly his second bag is slung diagonally across his chest and shoulder. (00:14:55)

Hearts and Minds - S1-E13

Continuity mistake: When Boone is tied up with his right arm in front and his left arm at his back, just after Locke leaves, Boone tries to lean over to reach the knife. However, in the close-up of his back, it's his right arm that is tied behind him. The same flipped shot is used later, three more times, when he "hears" Shannon's scream. (00:15:30 - 00:22:40)

Hearts and Minds - S1-E13

Continuity mistake: When Sayid opens the lid of the compass to show Jack, in the close-up, all of Sayid's fingernails are short and trimmed, yet, in previous and following shots (including next episode "Special") some of his fingernails (such as the thumbs) are very long again. This occurs in many other episodes, such as "Exodus 2". (00:24:40)

Revealing mistake: In Boone's flashback in the hotel, you can see the Sydney Opera House out the window which looks nice, except that in order to see the it from that perspective the hotel would need to be EXACTLY where the Harbour Bridge is, but there are no hotels in Sydney that could provide this angle of view. Special - S1-E14

Revealing mistake: When Locke and Michael are walking along the tree branch to get Walt, there is one instance where Locke's foot appears to be floating in the branch rather than stepping on it. Very bad CGI. (00:35:20)

Continuity mistake: When Jack shows Locke the suitcase full of guns, you can see a stick visible in Locke's right hand. However, when Jack asks if Locke knows how to use a gun, you can see that after the camera has panned around, Locke is now holding the gun with both hands, with the stick nowhere to be seen. Tabula Rasa - S1-E3

Season 1 generally

Question: When Claire is pregnant with her baby, her belly looks very realistic. Does anyone know how they make it look so real?

Answer: Using a mold, a realistic pregnancy belly is made of latex (rubber), including the distinct belly button, to suit the proportions of Emilie de Ravin who plays Claire. It is then painted with a special paint/adhesive compound that adheres to the surface and for shots of the actual belly, additional veining and stretch marks are airbrushed on.
