Factual error: When Mulder and Scully are investigating Lake Okoboji in Iowa, you can see what are either tall hills or small mountains in the background. However, if you look at the lake on Google Maps using the street view feature, the land surrounding the lake is relatively flat.
Other mistake: When Mulder and Scully are first visiting Darlene Morris, there is a split-second shot of Mulder examining residue on his fingers that is edited in between Mulder and Scully ascending the steps to the porch and knocking on the door. It's as if the sequence was initially longer with Mulder discovering a suspicious substance before he and Scully knocked on the door that was not completely edited out. Note: this mistake may only appear on certain formats. At the time this mistake was originally posted, I spotted it on Netflix. However, it does not occur on my DVD, nor Hulu. (00:07:20)

Revealing mistake: At The Beginning of the episode Darlene burns her hand trying to open the door, she then puts on an oven mitt and opens the door. If you look closely though she still uses her other naked hand as well as the covered hand to open the door and her naked hand is completely unhurt.
Continuity mistake: While filmed from behind, Darlene lowers her hands, but in the next front shot her hands are still kept crossed on her chest. (00:38:50)
