Lover's Walk - S3-E8

Corrected entry: Buffy is talking to her mother about college while making a bag of microwave popcorn. When the microwave goes off, she takes the fully-popped bag out and opens it. When it opens, there is no puff of smoke from the heated oil in the bag, indicating that it was pre-popped for the scene.

Correction: I've made microwave popcorn many times and have never seen a puff of smoke. Perhaps the puff of smoke occurs when overheating his/her popcorn.

Corrected entry: The Dallas submarine chasing Red October uses a very sophisticated sound analysis to localize the Russian sub because of its silent drive system. Red October does not notice the Dallas with its conventional propeller drive at all, until it deliberately reverses the propeller at full throttle at close distance. The Red October is not (deliberately) deaf however: the aircraft dropping a torpedo is signaled from great distance, but not the Dallas surfacing and picking up Jack Ryan from a helicopter. Furthermore, "crazy Ivan" turns are made to be sure no sub is following them, yet the encounter with the Dallas comes as a surprise.

Correction: The American sub has much better sonar, and the Dallas is in fact extremely quiet, even if it doesn't have the caterpillar drive. Torpedoes splashing into the water from a plane would be easy to detect.

Jaws 2 (1978)

Corrected entry: The shark on the DVD cover has nostrils. Sharks don't have nostrils.

Correction: Actually sharks do have nostrils. They don't BREATHE through them, their nostrils are purely sensory organs. For white sharks (like the one in JAWS) see http://www.amonline.net.au/fishes/fishfacts/fish/ccarchar.htm.

The Naked Gun (1988)

Corrected entry: When Frank is trying not to get the third out to the seventh inning stretch, and he throws up a bunch of balls to confuse the catcher, when you see a shot of the balls in the air, you see five balls, but he only throws up four, and you only see four drop.

tylerasktaylorsteckleralexdenny

Correction: Frank throws up four balls, you see five in the air ... because the actual fly ball is ALSO in the air.

Angel (1999)

Correction: Consider that Fred actually did live as a "cavewoman" for years in a demon dimension, and it isn't clear when the series ends that Illyria actually did win, what with Fred's memories and personality starting to reappear.

Corrected entry: In The House Of Blue Leaves, the line spoken between The Bride and O-Ren, "Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids", is a double reference to The Bride's real name, Beatrix. First, her name could have been shortened by the other DiVAS to Trix (as some sort of nickname). Also, the author of 'Peter Rabbit' is named Beatrix Potter, giving the "Silly rabbit" part of the line. This line was most likely written to be some sort of inside reference between the two characters.

Correction: "Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids" is the tagline of an American breakfast cereal ad. "Trix" is the name of the cereal, and the rabbit is on the cereal box.

Corrected entry: When the scientists arrive at Wildfire, Dr. Leavitt's glasses are taken away. She is told that they will be treated and returned. She says, "Good, because without them I would need a white cane." Minutes later, she reads a passage from the Wildfire documents with no glasses and no trouble at all.

wizard_of_gore

Correction: I am legally blind without my glasses, but I can easily read documents. What I can't do is see anything clearly if it's further away than my elbow.

Corrected entry: When the swordmaker has agreed to make a sword for Uma Thurman, he says something before going downstairs and the subtitles read "I suggest you spend it practicing". It should be "practising" - it's a verb when spelt with an S, and a noun when spelt with a C (like advice/advise).

Jon Sandys

Correction: Not in American usage, only British.

Corrected entry: When Trinity hacks the computer system, the program displays "exploiting SSHv1 CRC32". This is the name of a security bug which exists in the real world. But this in-joke backfires because the bug has also already been fixed in the real world; there is no way the exploit would still work in the time of the Matrix.

Moose

Correction: There are many, many systems that are running unpatched, easily-exploited software.

Corrected entry: When Hattori Honzo hands The Bride her sword in a very formal manner she responds with the word 'domo' - thanks. As she is obviously fluent in Japanese she would no doubt be aware that this casual term would be inappropriate for the occasion and possibly cause offence. More accurately she should have responded with 'arigato gozaimasu'.

Correction: She's making a private joke with the swordsmith, about their conversation on the word "domo" back when they first met.
