Context is for Kings - S1-E3

Factual error: Science Officer Tilly calls the planet Trill a "very big" planet. It has an area of 500 million square kilometers. But that is not so large a planet. The Earth has an area of 510,100,000 square kilometers. So Trill is slightly smaller than Earth. Not really a "very big" planet.

Factual error: The pilot of Air Force One, a Colonel, gets home. His shoulder insignias are turned ninety degrees from how they should be. In the next shot, it is corrected. Also, the "U.S." collar letters are at the wrong angle.

Constellation (2024)

Show generally

Factual error: Jo is re-entering the atmosphere. There is very hot plasma shown outside, typical of reentry. While this plasma is occurring, there is a communications blackout. Yet Jo seems to be able to communicate with Roscosmos control in spite of that.

Constellation (2024)

Show generally

Factual error: Col. Caldera is on a call on his computer. He is shown in his US Air Force blue uniform. At the beginning of the conversation he has no decorations or ribbons or badges on his uniform. Yet a little later, when we see him from inside the house (albeit with no pants below the uniform jacket!), he is shown with ribbons on the jacket. Further, he has a beard, which is not allowed by Air Force regulations. The only exceptions are with a religious exemption or with a waiver for medical shaving reasons.

Factual error: Secret Service Agent Miles salutes the President inside of Air Force One and has the other hand on her hip. Secret Service agents do not salute. They are not military.

Paul Is Dead - S1-E6

Factual error: The female British astronaut is in her space suit. There is a supposedly British flag on her left sleeve. But the flag is wrong. The red diagonal stripes are centered on the white field. They should be off-centered by 3/5 of the white space. Not centered. This is a common mistake you find in British flags bought outside the UK.

Factual error: Mr. Monk is crossing off days on a calendar until Trudy's passing anniversary. Three days before, he says "only two days left." Mr. Monk is too much of a perfectionist to say that. How did this happen?

Beyond Logic - S1-E10

Factual error: Season 1, Episode 10: Lee is trying to get out of the underworld on his capsule with the rescued others. They all get in, and he closes the top hatch by turning the hatch wheel clockwise. Trying to take off, a wire becomes disconnected outside, and Lee has to go out again. He turns the hatch wheel clockwise, and this time it opens instead of closing. If it was clockwise for close, it should be counterclockwise to open.

Moth to a Flame - S1-E3

Other mistake: The police are watching a bus traveling between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. As part of the surveillance, they show a policeman in a car taking pictures. The lens cap is still on.

Breaker High (1997)

Revealing mistake: The ship is being attacked by a megalodon. The USS King is supposed to be in open ocean. When three sailors run to the left, we can see the ship is next to a dock. (01:01:35)

toroscan

Factual error: The USS King's crew are all wearing blue camos with US NAVY on their left chest. Yet the Skipper keeps calling them Marines.

toroscan

Other mistake: On the USS Fragasso, everyone is in uniform, except the Skipper. He is wearing a blue polo shirt with no markings or rank.

toroscan

Character mistake: The Captain of the USS Fragasso comes onto the bridge. A Petty Officer says, "Officer on deck," and salutes while looking out the forward windscreen. He should have said, "Captain on the bridge" and not saluted.

toroscan

Factual error: Lieutenant Commander Sharp addresses the crew of the USS King. At the end, he shouts "Semper Fi." Marines say "Semper Fi," not Navy personnel. "Hooyah!" would have been more appropriate. By the way, I don't think bright metal collar insignias are worn with the blue camo uniform. They use subdued rank insignia. But I am not sure.

toroscan

Factual error: Lieutenant Commander Cole goes to the skipper's office with his hands in his pockets and proceeds to talk to him, and not once does he remove his hands from his pockets. This is a military no-no. A person in uniform NEVER walks or talks with his hands in his pockets.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Not necessarily. 1) This was during the Vietnam war, a lot of regs are overlooked. 2) The old military phrase "RHIP" (Rank has its privileges).

kayelbe

I respectfully disagree. I was an officer in Vietnam during the war, and the Air Force would not tolerate it even there. Maybe the Navy was more lax.

Factual error: CPT Leo tells Harp he just flew 10,000 to get there. This war is in Europe. Even assuming the easternmost area, say Poland, Nevada is only 5,700 miles away.

toroscan

Factual error: LT Harp is talking with CPT Leo. Leo, reciting Harp's achievements, says he has 56,000 hours of flying drones. Impossible. A Lieutenant, say a First Lieutenant, would be promoted to Captain in typically four years. 56,000 hours in four years is 4,667 a month. It should be divided by eleven, as he is entitled to one month leave. So the corrected amount is 5,091 hours a month. This is 254.55 hours per workday! Yeah, right.

toroscan

Factual error: At his hearing, a drone pilot (a lieutenant) is asked where he did his basic training. He replied, "Parris Island." Wrong. US Air Force officers do not go to Parris Island. Some, such as ROTC and Academy graduates, do not go to basic training at all. Others go to Officer Training School. Parris is a Marine Corps base that gives basic training to enlisted Marine Corps personnel.
