Character mistake: MacGyver is explaining the jamming of a tracking signal. He states that the tracking device is emitting an RIDF signal. He should have said an RFID signal.(00:26:20)
Other mistake: Higgins is asked if she can hack a security feed from an office. She replies that she can do it, but it will only be audio, no video. When she hacks it, is only video, no audio.(00:14:10 - 00:15:35)
Factual error: MacGyver and Russ are locked in a hotel room. They cannot use their comms. MacGyver says it is because the room is secure with reinforced walls to keep comms blocked. But there is a big glass window with only bars on it. If the room were indeed secure to comms there would be a screen to complete a Faraday Cage and prevent radio frequencies from passing through.(00:26:45)
Factual error: MacGyver and Russ are bringing two large oxygen cylinders into a room. From the way they handle them to get them off the cart and onto the floor, you can tell they are empty. To make matters even funnier, MacGyver manages to break off the valves on both tanks at the same time with just one stomp of his foot. That is physically impossible. Continuing the farce, the tanks pretty leisurely rocket away, lifting all present slowly to the skylight. I have seen a video of just one small air tank break a valve. It shot across the room, through the wall, flew through the air, and embedded itself three feet in the ground over 40 feet away. Believe me, not at all how depicted here.(00:35:20 - 00:36:20)
Factual error: Riley and Desi pick the locks on a safe deposit box and extract a hard drive. They then are going down some stairs with Jane when Jane menaces them with a gun and asks for the hard drive. Riley tells Desi not to worry and shows her the actual disk in her hand. We're later shown she opened the casing with her bare hands and the disk dropped out - not at all possible.(00:29:30 - 00:32:00)
Plot hole: Paula Matos comes into her room and surprises Desi and Riley. Paula has a gun. Riley asks her if the gun is ceramic, as no guns are allowed in the hotel past security. It is not answered, but it would be the only way Paula could have a gun. So far so good. But later when they have made a deal, and they are leaving the room, Riley tells Paula to leave the gun behind because there might be metal detectors along the way. If it is indeed ceramic, then there is no need to leave it behind. And if it is metal, how did it get past the metal detectors in the first place? One or the other premise is wrong.(00:24:05 - 00:26:00)
Character mistake: "The Butcher of Brazil" walks into the "Spa" at the Zurich Grand. Instead of saying Boa Noite (proper Portuguese), he says "Buenas Noches" (in Spanish).(00:27:00)
Continuity mistake: Danielle is running and slams into a force field. She gets a bloody nose. Then she runs back to attack Illyana, and falls when Illyana disappears. She looks up, and her nose in not bloody any more.(00:13:25 - 00:14:20)
Continuity mistake: A doctor comes into a patient's room. The door swings inward to the right, and it has a heavy lock on it. When she leaves she closes the door. It swings inward, but to the left, and it has no heavy lock.(00:04:10 - 00:08:25)
Factual error: The astronaut from the UK has what is supposed to be a British flag on his right arm. But it is not accurate. The red diagonal lines are in the wrong place. They are supposed to be 3/5 of the way counterclockwise of the white field, not in the center thereof.(00:04:40)
Factual error: Lt. Talbot is wearing a US Army (National Guard) uniform with his name tape saying "LT. TALBOT". Name tapes do not show rank. The rank is worn on the Battle Dress Uniform on a tab on the chest.(01:23:55)
Other mistake: The remaining four people at the power plant are evacuating ahead of the explosion of the bomb they set. They are running towards the helicopter to escape. The scene shows the helicopter with the rotors already turning. But there is no-one on board, much less a pilot to have started the helicopter.(01:21:10)
Continuity mistake: The mayor suffers a bleeding head wound while evacuating City Hall. Several scenes later he is shown with no wound at all. Not even his hair is mussed.(00:40:30 - 00:46:30)
Factual error: Cat hot wires a modern car. Cars newer than around 2004 are largely impossible to hot-wire. Modern vehicles come with a chip in their key fobs which are required for the ignition to start at all - no amount of hot-wiring can bypass these.(00:43:00)
Factual error: Cat Rivers is flying the R44 helicopter from the left seat. The R44 is a single pilot helicopter fitted with dual controls. Two collective levers may be installed (the left is removable) but the cyclic control is not of a conventional nature. This comprises a central stick terminating in a pivoting T bar, which only allows one of the pilots at any one time to control the cyclic with the hand grip in the 'normal' position. The R44 is normally flown from the right seat; it is possible to fly from the left seat and instructors regularly do so. Students and low experience pilots would normally only fly from the right seat, and are discouraged from flying from the left seat when with friends. This is because of the unusual cyclic control configuration and, to some extent, the different instrument scan and visual references for hovering when flying.(00:14:40)
Other mistake: Phil looks up the driving time from Ashford and Diamond Falls. It is 4 hours 12 minutes. Later, he goes to meet Annie, and she has suggested they meet at Colson Bay, which is "in the middle." He is on a train, and he says that in 4 hours 12 minutes he will meet her. Even ignoring the fact that the train ride duration may or may not be four hours 12 minutes, that cannot be, as they are meeting "in the middle" of that distance.
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie the spaceship has three runabouts affixed to the bottom of the hull. The middle one is used to travel to an unknown spaceship and is blown up. Immediate subsequent shots of the outside of the spaceship show the middle runabout missing. But after a while, outside shots show all three again nestled in their bays.
Factual error: The garage scientists are setting up an experiment. One of the guys goes to tighten the terminals of a battery. He grabs one in each hand and proceeds to tighten them. If he had done that to a real battery he would have gotten the shock of his life.(00:12:00)
