Corrected entry: When Paul forms the plutonium into a ball, he slips it into one end of a transfer pipe, and uses a magnet on a chain to retrieve it from the other end. However, it should be noted that plutonium is NOT magnetic.

Correction: Paul didn't form the plutonium into a ball. He placed it inside a metal sphere. The sphere containing the plutonium was magnetic.

Grumpy Scot

Corrected entry: In the scene where Ramius and Borodin are discussing what their intentions are when they each America, Jones yells out "Crazy Ivan", though Ramius does not give the order to perform a "Crazy Ivan" at any point in that scene, or the previous scenes.

Correction: Nope. Borodin says that he's ordered a 'routine clearing of the baffles'. Red October performs a Crazy Ivan to accomplish this.

Corrected entry: The lightning bolt hitting the clock tower should not have stopped the clock because the clock is not electrical, it's mechanical.

Independence Day (1996)

Corrected entry: When it comes to saluting in the armed forces, the subordinate always puts up his or her salute first and then the superior officer puts up his salute. Only after the superior officer has put his salute down is the subordinate permitted to put down his salute. Never will a superior officer salute somebody of a lesser rank first. This occurs several times in the movie but the most obvious one was in the very last scene after the whole entourage jeeps out into the desert to meet David and Captain Hiller. General Grey (a 4 star general) salutes Captain Hiller (an officer of much less rank) first and then is in turn saluted back by Captain Hiller.

redrainx14

Correction: While true 99% of the time, Hiller and Levinson just literally saved the Earth. Grey salutes Hiller first as a sign of respect and a way of saying "well done and thank you". Wounded soldiers are often saluted by superiors in much the same way for instance.

Grumpy Scot

Corrected entry: When Marty is trying to prove to Doc that he is from the future, he shows him his driver's license and the photo of himself and his siblings. Doc immediately dismisses them both. Doesn't Doc notice that the quality of the color in the photos is much better than any color film that existed in the 1950's? Wouldn't that grab his attention?

calidude

Correction: If he actually took the time to examine it, maybe. Think about it, if someone walked up and told you he was from the future and showed you a document to prove it, would you believe him and examine it or humor the weirdo and get away as quick as you could?

Grumpy Scot

This is taken out of context. Doc didn't really want to see it, Marty was pushing it in his face to prove he is from 1985. He was humouring him but as a scientist, he was struck by curiosity. He would have at least looked.

He wasn't curious at all.

lionhead

Corrected entry: After Marty burns the sports almanac, it is only burning for a few moments before it begins to pour rain. There was not enough time to burn the whole book, considering he started the fire with some cheap matches and no gas or lighter fluid to make it burn faster. Some of the pages may have survived. There would have been water damage from the rain on the remaining pages for sure, but a few pages may have still survived and have been legible enough for a passerby (or maybe even the western union guy) to be able to read and use to make bets.

calidude

Correction: Yes, but since Marty and Doc see the timeline change in response, it was enough to do the job.

Grumpy Scot

Corrected entry: In the scene where Mario "disappears" in the magic shop, if you look closely through the smoke you can see him duck down behind the counter.

Adorkibul

Correction: That's sort of the point, he's selling Pee Wee stage magic.

Grumpy Scot

Corrected entry: This is just plain weird. I have seen the movie at least 10 times. At the very end Gere walks up behind Debra Winger. She takes out her ear plugs and her hands are in camera view all the time. She reaches up to his mouth and it appears that she pops the ear plugs into his mouth and then kisses him. Call me crazy but look for yourself.

bugmenot

Correction: It does look like it doesn't it!? But, her ear plugs are on a cord, she just leaves them hanging around her neck. She lets them trail out of her hands, which does make it look like she grabbed them.

Grumpy Scot

Then what does she put in his mouth?

It's definitely an awkward move she does, but it doesn't look like she puts anything in his mouth. She just reaches to touch his cheeks, but then she moves arms around him.

Bishop73

Doppelganger - S4-E4

Corrected entry: When Dr. Jennifer Keller is talking about her dream (basically re-telling the scene from the movie Alien when the parasite came out of the body of Teyla Emmagan), Ronon Dex says, "It sounds like that movie," referring to the movie Alien. He did not come from Earth and yet he knows already about Alien the movie. Sure, Lt. Colonel John Sheppard could have told him about it, but it seems curious that he just recalls it so vividly without ever seeing the movie.

edgaradelchi

Correction: By season four Atlantis is no longer cut off, Daedalus makes regular supply runs from Earth. Ronon has doubtless seen dozens of movies by this point.

Grumpy Scot

Aurora - S2-E9

Corrected entry: In this episode, the replicators invade the newly Lantaen-controlled Atlantis and mind-probe the Lantaens, who easily succumb to this technique, before killing them. Given the brief amount of control Daniel Jackson was able to exercise over the replicator swarm in Stargate SG1 when he was also enduring a mind probe, and given that although previously-ascended Daniel Jackson still possessed only standard human brain physiology, it seems far more likely to me that the Lantaens, with hyper-evolved brain physiology and incredible mental discipline, would have easily controlled the replicators and ended both the immediate problem as well as the entire series.

Correction: Yes, but Pegasus human-form replicators are far more advanced than Milky Way replicators. They have evolved almost to the point of ascension and are mentally the equal of Lantaens.

The Town (2010)

Corrected entry: When Desmond Elden is shot in the head in the garage of the ballpark, the SWAT member pulls the charging handle of the rifle which wastes a round that hasn't been used. Even if he ran out of ammo he would not have to pull the charging handle but simply slap the bolt release on the side of the rifle after changing magazines.

Correction: Not necessarily. It's entirely possible that the rifle jammed and the trooper pulled the charging handle to clear it. Unless you can see from the side that the bolt is open or closed, this mistake can't be confirmed.

Grumpy Scot

Correction: Chekov never met Khan onscreen. They could have met when Khan was exploring the ship. Also, Kirk gave Khan access to the ships computer, he might have read the officer's personnel files looking for people he could suborn to help his attempted takeover of the Enterprise. This would allow him to know Chekov's name and appearance even if they hadn't met face to face.

Maximum Overdrive (1986)

Corrected entry: When the remaining survivors were escaping the Dixie Boy through the sewers, the guy in the cowboy hat was the last one to go in, but when the camera cuts to the other end of the pipe, he's already out on the other end before some of the others.

biglee1901

Correction: Yes but when Bill and Curtis crawl through them its shown the tunnels are big enough that he could have crawled past the others to get out first if necessary.

Aliens (1986)

Corrected entry: There is NO WAY that the entire crew of a Marine Transport is composed of two squads. When the Marines all go down to the surface, it's ALL the Marines, resulting in having to remote pilot the second landing craft down. As someone with over 20 years experience in the Military, I can safely say that this vessel would have a crew that would include -among others- a pilot, copilot, navigator, engineer, communications officer, medic, and several crew members to maintain the food and life support systems, various cargo loaders, drop ships, and weapons systems of the ship (which are visible in exterior shots). There is no way that a bunch of Privates would be qualified to do those tasks- their Military Occupation Specialties are 0300 series/combat related NOT support related. Those are apples and oranges.

Robertus

Correction: This mistake makes several assumptions. The Sulaco demonstrably has enough automation to travel to LV-426 without a crew. So why crew her? The Corporation thinks that 2 squads are enough. 2 squads of Marines must have been enough to handle similar situations in the past. So why send a company or more? The Sulaco is entering a situation where there will be no hostile starships, so why man her weapons or provide a warship escort? Ferro, Gorman and Bishop provide the specialized skills deemed necessary for this mission. So why send more officers or techs? The company, always concerned about the bottom line, sent exactly what they thought was necessary and not a bit more.

Monk (2002)

Correction: Randy has also been shown many times to be incredibly oblivious of his surroundings. At most its still just a character choice, not a mistake.

Grumpy Scot

Corrected entry: In the scene where Percy and his friends are fighting the Hydra, Percy begins to wildly swing his sword to cut of their heads. At one point, he slices off the middle head which breathes fire, and it grows back. This is incorrect as the middle fire breathing head cannot be chopped off.

Correction: According to who? The movie takes some liberties with established myth.

Prometheus Unbound - S8-E12

Corrected entry: When Daniel threatens Vala with the Zat, she says that she is still wearing the Kull suit and is therefore immune to it. Some time later, Daniel shoots her with the Zat but despite him hitting the suit, she goes down.

Tanngrisnir

Correction: Vala was incorrectly assuming that the Kull suit would protect from a Zat with the helmet off.

Grumpy Scot

Thirty-Eight Minutes - S1-E4

Corrected entry: When they remove the alien bug from Sheppard's neck, Ford tries to revive him with the defibrillator. As it fails, they agree to move Sheppard through the event horizon of the stargate, because this would prevent him from dying, and Teyla pulls Sheppard into the gate. The problem is that everything what goes through the gate is dematerialized, so Teyla couldn't pull Sheppard into the gate, since by the time he is pulled into the gate completely, Teyla has long been disappeared. (00:34:35)

Correction: The Stargates use technology that is so advanced it's almost magic. Since people do walk through them and pull things through them, the Ancients clearly designed them to make it possible. After all, how useful would they be if you couldn't take anything through them but what you are carrying?

Grumpy Scot

Show generally

Corrected entry: It is stated throughout the series that the stargate dematerializes anything which passes through the event horizon. How then are people able to step into the gate? Their legs dematerializes immediately after passing the event horizon (and the stargate doesn't transmit the leg until the whole body is dematerialized), so that leg couldn't support their body when they step. They would literally fall into the stargate.

Correction: The Stargates use technology that is so advanced it's almost magic. Since people do walk through them and pull things through them, the Ancients clearly designed them to make it possible. After all, how useful would they be if you couldn't take anything through them but what you are carrying?

Cats & Dogs (2001)

Corrected entry: During the ninja cat scene, three cats fly in and parachute down, but four planes can be seen flying away at the end.

trulyrandom

Correction: How's this a mistake? The fourth ninja cat must have had a problem with his chute and aborted the jump.
