Trivia: The scene where Colonel Kilgore offers his canteen to the wounded Vietcong is based on a real incident. The army officer really did say, "Any man brave enough to fight with his guts strapped to him can drink from my canteen any day". (From Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse).

Trivia: Martin Sheen actually was intoxicated when he filmed the scene where Willard is drunk in his hotel room. He punched the mirror, which was real glass, and actually did cut his hand, as shown in the film. (00:07:10)

Trivia: The script pages that Driscoll gives to Denham aboard the Venture are actual pages from a copy of the original 1933 King Kong script that Peter Jackson owns. He mentions this on one of the production diaries.

Suggested correction: That was a real doctor from San Diego St John's Hospital. He was getting frustrated trying to teach the actors and popped off to director Spielberg, "Why don't you just let us do it?" That was all real medical staff. And that doctor gave me stitches two years later, lol.

Trivia: When Paxton is about to be tortured, he begs to the man in German. Director Eli Roth decided not to add subtitles, preferring to leave what was said a mystery. The lines translate as "If you kill me, it'll destroy your life. Every time you close your eyes, you'll see me. I'll be in your nightmares every night, your whole life. I will ruin it."
