Question: Why on one DVD cover for this did they remove the axe Harriet's holding behind her back?
Answer: The version without the axe is the original version. It was a later version that "shopped" in the weapon, presumably to even up the picture and mirror the fact that Charlie has something behind his back. Technically, the axe version doesn't even make sense since Harriet is not, in fact, an axe murderer.

Mama (2013)
Question: How did the girls survive for five whole years in an abandoned house in the woods? Did Mama help them to survive by giving them things to eat like cherries?
Answer: I'm pretty sure that they ate cherries because of all the pits shown when the two men enter the house. They probably ate other things as well because Lily is shown eating a moth in one scene.
Answer: Yes, Mama kept them alive. We see a wild apple rolling across to the floor to the huddled girls, implying that Mama gave it to them, and would have continued to give them forest fruits. She undoubtedly also showed them where to find water.

Question: Why did the Army refuse to bury Rappo at Arlington National Cemetery?
Answer: It's most likely because of Rappo's connection with the deaths, plus how vocal he was about hating the army and blaming it for his disability. No official charge could be made against his name, but between what was witnessed, and Rappo's own claims, it's likely the military authority simply found it inappropriate to rest his body there.

The Ring (2002)
Question: When Aiden is possessed by Samara he calls Rachel "mommy" but he always called her Rachel otherwise, so why did he call her mommy at the end of the movie right after she jumped off the cliff and Samara went away?
Answer: It suggests that after everything they've been through together, and how far she was willing to go to keep him safe, Rachel's son would finally feel close enough to her to call her mom. They have little connection in the beginning of the movie, and that changes by the end.

The One With Rachel's Crush - S4-E13
Question: Rachel meets Joshua at work. She goes back home after work and as she enters home announces: "I have the best job in the entire world" and keeps on repeating Joshua's name and enjoys it when suddenly Ross gets upset about it and says "hello?" which implies that "I am sitting right here, and you shouldn't be making me jealous." She answers "hi" apologetically. My question is: what right does Ross have to get upset? they're not in a relationship.
Answer: True, but they've not been broken up all that long and are still friends - it would be kind of Rachel to at least not flaunt her latest love interest in his face.
Answer: Plus, Ross acting like an entitled arsehole is a constant in the show, his behaviour regarding Rachel and her love life outside of him is wildly inappropriate on many occasions.
As a man who had complete security in his life until his wife announces lesbianism and ends in divorce, I think his paranoia regarding relationships and behaviour in the show are justified. It's all well and good to say he should be over it, but Rachel's actions inside and out of the relationship don't help him.
Answer: Rachel was being insensitive when gushing about Joshua, and it hurt Ross. Though they became friends again, Ross never stopped loving Rachel and felt she also caused their split and then played the victim. Rachel seemed more oblivious than apologetic when saying, "Hi," back to Ross, and was in denial about still loving him and her part in the breakup. She was equally jealous when Ross started dating Emily and never expected him to move on so quickly. She told Monica that she always believed they'd someday get back together.

Answer: Scottsdale is a well-liked destination for fun; resorts and spas, outdoor activities like hiking and rock climbing, golfing, cultural events, and a bouncy nightlife. It's generally considered an upbeat and convivial place, exactly the sort of environment the gloomy Goth kids would consider to be awful.

Answer: I don't recall her name mentioned in the film either, but after a look on IMDB, I believe the actress is Samantha Lemole, who is credited in the movie as 'Claire'.

Question: After George/Jahangir arrives in his Pakistani house, he's giving gifts to everyone after the evening meal. He hands Tanweer something to which he responds "what was the need for this?" What on earth is that...?
Answer: It's a seat stick, basically a single-leg folding seat that doubles as a walking stick. When it's folded up, the handles are used for support like a regular walking stick, and when unfolded the thick strap becomes a rudimentary chair. They often have a prong on the bottom beneath the rubber foot, so they can be driven into the ground for extra stability. They are often used by the elderly who may need to sit down suddenly from tiredness, or by event spectators who get tired of standing (such as golf enthusiasts, a game of golf can last a while, and these seat sticks provide some relief.) Tanweer responds with 'there is no need for this', and he most likely means that it's not necessary for George to give away his belongings as gifts to the family.

Question: What is written on the back of Norma's shirt when she brings the attendance slips to Ms Collins?
Answer: It's either cycnus X*1, or cygnus X*1. I have no idea what that references, but according to Google, cygnus X-1 relates to a black hole. An in-joke maybe, or simply a coincidence, since quirky-lettering shirts were fairly standard in the 70s.

General questions
I caught the tail end of a presumably made-for-television movie some time in the early to mid 90s. It featured a man who had himself altered to look exactly like another man whose life and family he wanted. The two ended up fighting with one of them falling to his death. We are led to believe the evil man died, but it is shortly thereafter revealed that he was the one who survived when he is shown shuffling a coin on his knuckles, which my brother told me is something he was shown doing earlier in the movie. Does anyone have any idea what the title of this movie is?
Chosen answer: I believe this is the 1994 TV movie 'Natural Selection' starring C. Thomas Howell.

General questions
I am looking for the name of a movie that came out in the late 1960's or 1970-71. The only thing I can remember about this movie is a scene that occurs in an underground cavern with a natural pool of water with a woman (Ursula Andress?) wearing a long flowing gown appearing to walk on water. There is also a man (actor unknown) there with her. She may be an apparition that suddenly appears to him.
Answer: This sounds like 'She' from 1965. It stars Ursula Andress, John Richardson, Peter Cushing and Bernard Cribbins. A band of ex-military men go looking for and find a lost city, and Ursula Andress is ruler of the city. I don't recall the walking on water, but she did wear a beautiful flowing dress and there were several scenes in a stone cavern.

Twenty-something girls vs. thirty-something women - S2-E17
Question: I have a somewhat odd question for everyone that watches Sex and the city. I got into the show about 2 or 3 years after it started running but I remember watching the episode "Twenty-something girls vs. thirty-something women" which was the episode about Carrie and the girls going to the Hamptons and renting a house. Charlotte dates a younger guy that gives her crabs. There is commentary about comparing 20 year girls to 30 year old women and when I watched this episode originally I swear there was a different ending then what is what is shown now. I want to know if anyone else has seen this or am I absolutely insane. In the episode there is a girl that pukes on the beach - her friend holds her hair back and Carrie makes a commentary about "counting on 20 year old girls to hold your hair back." Later when Carrie sees Big with Natasha she runs to the beach and Miranda runs after her. Carrie throws up because she is upset and Miranda holds her hair back, but the version I saw changes the commentary/narration and says that you can "always count on a 30 something year old friend to hold your hair back." I haven't seen that version again. Has anyone else seen it or did I just dream this, because I swear I remember watching this when it first came out?
Answer: I'm a long-time fan of the show, having re-watched it many times, and I definitely remember slightly different dialogue at the end of that episode than what's on my DVD. I'm afraid I have no idea why this change might have been made or any other info, but you're not insane.

Answer: Giry had known the Phantom since they were children, knew what his life was like then, and she has great pity for him (and great admiration, as a lover of the arts herself.) She deliberately distances herself from his wrong doings until Raul convinces her to speak up. She also understood the Phantom didn't intend to harm Christine.

Question: I have two questions about Robert and Caroline. First, why are there two separate beds in their bedroom? I know that Colin and Mary's hotel room might have had two single beds by default, but was it common practice for Italian homes to still contain separate beds in the 1990s? Also, why did Robert and Caroline murder Colin?
Answer: While it's possible that they slept in separate beds because of Caroline's chronic back pain, and Robert could accidentally hurt her in the night by moving, it's more likely that it's a sexual kink of sorts, a way to 'deprive' them both of each other. They murdered Colin because Robert was highly unstable (Caroline was utterly dependent on him and was also unstable as a result) and since they enjoyed pain during sex, it's implied that they thought it would be a great sexual thrill to seriously hurt someone else, which would explain why they appeared amorous with each other as soon as Robert cut Colin's throat.

Mean Girls (2004)
Question: After Cady sends a candy cane note to herself, pretending that it came from Regina, Gretchen says that Regina does not even like Cady very much. So why is Regina still allowing Cady to associate with The Plastics? As the "queen bee", she could probably decide to ban Cady from the group.
Answer: Regina enjoys manipulating people, and she views Cady as a relatively easy person to manipulate, finding her more useful/amusing to keep in their circle. It's a running theme of the film that the friendships between all of the Plastics is very tenuous, because of the catty, manipulative nature of the girls.
Answer: I think Regina secretly felt threatened by Cady. Janice and Damien comment about Cady being "a regulation hottie." She is attractive and has the "exotic" appeal of being a new student, plus she is new to traditional school in general, having spent many years in Africa. Regina guessed that Cady would have this exotic appeal. Pretending to be her friend was better than competing with her. It's a "keep your friends close and your enemies closer" tactic.

The Lion King II: Simba's Pride (1998)
Question: If Scar chose Kovu, why is Kovu not the same age as Simba? Instead, he's the same age as Kiara, but Kiara is born only after Scar's death. Even if Scar chose Kovu say, a week prior to his death, Kovu would still be older than Kiara, and Scar would likely have had the pride of Outland lionesses at his back, rather than the Hyenas that killed him. Instead, the only lionesses we see are the Prideland lionesses. If Scar was able to lead the outlanders as their king with Zira at his side, I'm rather confused about his desire for Pride rock in the first place.
Answer: It's since been revealed that Zira completely made up the bit about Scar choosing Kovu as his successor. Any errors or plot holes can thus be chalked up to that.
Chosen answer: The Kovu age discrepancy, and the lack of outlander support for Scar during his Pridelands rule, are plot holes, pretty much unavoidably created by the very story in this sequel.
Answer: Perhaps Zira had just got pregnant with him and Scar had no choice but to select the unborn cub to be the new leader if it was male, and he was lucky that it was. He might have guessed that Simba would come back some time and he made this decision in a panic, forgetting about anyone else. Nala would get pregnant with Kiara around this time and she and Simba were seen possibly mating (though well hidden by Disney) during the love song in the first movie. Some time may have passed since this moment, meaning she could give birth around the same time as Zira. One more thing is that baby Kiara is a lot chubbier than Simba was, so the ceremony could be a bit late and she is a bit older than people think at that moment.

Question: When Riff-Raff and Magenta interrupt Frank-N-Furter's floor show, Riff-Raff says that Frank's mission was a failure. What exactly was the mission?
Answer: It has never been expressly stated, though many theories exist, the primary one being that Frank and the others were sent to Earth simply to experiment on human life and possibly reproduce it (Frank is a scientist, they have a lab, he creates Rocky etc.) and to test their technology on humans. This would require a level of covertness, which Frank disregards by flaunting his hedonistic lifestyle, and thus could have been seen as a failure.

Question: After Tony breaks the mirror, he hears the sound of horses running whenever he is about to experience bad luck. Is there a reason for the signal being horse sounds, i.e. a reference to a fairy tale or mythology?
Answer: After some research, it doesn't appear as though any cultures have ever considered horses bad luck; the opposite in fact, they are usually seen as symbols of power, freedom, and wisdom. It's likely the hooves sound was chosen purely because it was a bit ominous, and the approaching sounds easily signified that the bad luck was coming, rather than have it constantly be a surprise.

Answer: Early on, Ariel tells Monica that the old tunnels beneath the church are the burial site of many babies (the results of years of illicit sex between the nuns and priests), and that's what Monica comes across. It's possible the earthquake/aftershocks were meant to have exposed the tombs. The reason some of the bodies look bloody and more 'fresh' is most likely for shock value, typical of Eli Roth films.
