Corrected entry: After the news report about Grand Central Station being closed, the weather man stands in front of a map of the large weather system over Canada. The storm is spinning clockwise, when it should be counter-clockwise in the northern hemisphere.

Smokey and the Bandit II (1980)
Corrected entry: The Bandit says that he's the only person "to have drunk up a Trans Am," meaning he traded it away on alcohol. But he didn't have his Trans Am at the end of the first movie; he made his escape in a Cadillac and left the Trans Am behind (most likely for the police to find and impound).
Correction: "Most likely" doesn't count. They didn't show what happened to the Trans Am, so it is up to your imagination what happened between the two movies.

King of the Hill (1997)
Corrected entry: In the episode where the family visits Peggy's family's ranch in Montana, Peggy's mother is mad because Peggy didn't stay on the ranch and marry the neighbors' son. However, in an earlier Valentine's Day episode, where Peggy learned that Hank had mono, we saw Peggy and Hank as a couple in high school, with Peggy going to West Arlen High. This means that she was not living in Montana as a young adult (or at an age when her mother thought she would be old enough to marry).
Correction: At what age can a mother start fantasizing about her child marrying the neighbor's kid?
True, but Peggy tells her mother that she did not have feelings for the neighbors' son. As if she were old enough to possibly date him.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004)
Corrected entry: The newspaper we see at the beginning of the film triumphantly headlines the arrival of the Hindenburg III in New York. How long prior to printing of the newspaper would that have been? Twelve hours? However, the same edition of the newspaper carries the story of a Doctor Vargas, a 'Missing Scientist', who was last seen on the Hindenburg III itself. Not in their Universe nor ours would the Police, Press or anyone else be interested in a scientist who had been 'missing' for a few hours.
Correction: If Einstein, Oppenheimer, Telsa, or Fermi had dissappered without a trace for a few hours, I'm pretty sure many people would have cared. Same thing if Stephen Hawkings dissapeared today.

Moon Zero Two (1969)
Corrected entry: The premise of the plot is that J.J. Hubbard needs to illegally crash the sapphire asteroid on the Moon to make mining the 6,000 tons of gemstone easy & profitable. Eventually it's revealed that the reason the large amount of the stone is so valuable is that it'll make powerful interplanetary rockets practical, and therefore Hubbard's ownership of the sapphire will give him a monopoly on harvesting the vast riches of the solar system. If it'll be so incredibly lucrative, then why does he need to crash the asteroid and risk being caught? It should be worth the cost of just mining it in space.
Correction: Probably because it is not large enough to have an effective gravitational field to land mining equiment on. Plus, once you start mining, you are decreasing its size\volume making it unstable to mine from. It would be like a dragline digging away at its own base. Crashing it on the moon means they mine 100% of it.

Courage Under Fire (1996)
Corrected entry: This movie is used as a reference during our annual LOAC (Law of Armed Conflict) requirement, because Meg Ryan's character would never have been considered for a medal of honor. She would have been court martialed. The helicopter she piloted featured a Red Cross. This means that the vehicle cannot fire and participate in battle, otherwise, no one will respect the emblem. The director obviously did not consult any military lawyers since this was the premise of the movie.
Correction: This would come down to the brass at the Pentagon and the current administration. Do they discuss the Mei Lei massacre in your class? President Bush's defying the Geneva Convention on treatment of Iraqi prisoners? The handling of "enemy combatants" at Gitmo? This administration says it is not torture, but aggressive interrogation. One senior senator even said that if torturing Iraqi prisoners will save 1 American life all he has to say is 'Red is positive, black is negative'. There are members of the international community asking that Bush be brought up on war crime charges. His lawyers advised him that "aggresive interrogations" are allowed by the Geneva convention. What could happen, what should happen and what does happen when it comes to the law is always up to the people that enforce it.

The Rookie (2002)
Corrected entry: Jim Morris' first big league game, a 7:30 p.m. start, was in Arlington, Texas. His fan club - his former high school ballers - scheduled a 2 p.m. meeting time (to go watch in the game) in Big Lake, Texas. The players arrived at the ballpark's upper deck just before the bottom of the first. Big Lake is a 7-hour, 19-minute drive from Arlington. There is no way the people could have left Big Lake shortly after 2 p.m., driven to the stadium, parked, bought tickets, entered the stadium and climbed to the upper level by about 7:45 p.m., which is approximately when the bottom of the first would have began.
Correction: Mapquest says it is 336.62 mile from Big Lake to Arlington with a travel time of 6.2 hours. That makes an average speed of 53.62 mph. Drop the time to 5.75 hours and the average speed only jumps 5mph to 58.54mph. I'm pretty sure they could break the law and speed all the way there; 165.1 miles of the trip is on the interstate.

Drawn Together (2004)
Corrected entry: In the episode, "Alzheimer's That End Well", Toot is about to be pushed into the pool at the nursing home. She takes off one of her shoes and drops it into the pool. It sinks and she shudders. The shots thereafter show her wearing both shoes.
Correction: They make a point of mentioning in the series that they know: they are cartoons and they are under the control of the producers & artists. Look at the suicide hotline episode. The producers changed the votes, changed what they said and the artists took Foxy's clothes away.

The Core (2003)
Corrected entry: Virgil's cockpit operates on a gyroscopic mechanism, which would level the cockpit, making it parallel with the earth's surface. This means that no matter what way Virgil tilts, the passengers inside would not feel anything, because it would feel as if they are sitting still. However, in the scene where Virgil hits "empty space", the ship falls vertically, and the passengers are pushed forward, as if they are going to fly off their seats (just like what happens when you ride a roller coaster) and the only thing holding them in their seats are the seat belts.
Correction: They mention that the gyroscopes only work to 45dgrees maximum.

Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003)
Corrected entry: In the scene where El and Carolina have their chains cut, both close-up shots reveal that the "welding torch" is actually a MIG-Welder. It is impossible to cut anything with MIG-Welding equipment.
Correction: If a welder, using MIG equipment, goes too hot and in the same place too long, he will burn a hole in the metal. It is a rookie mistake. They did it on purpose.

The Colonel - S3-E16
Corrected entry: When Tim shows Al's Mom's "shoes" they are both for the left foot.
Correction: That was intentional. He is always making fun of Al's mom being, well, odd.

Red Eye (2005)
Corrected entry: Lisa refuses an offer from her father to pick her up at the airport because "it is going to be too late." She then explains that she'll be on the Red Eye. Red Eyes are overnight flights that arrive in the morning, and therefore wouldn't be "too late."
Correction: "too early" and "too late" are phrases that you'd use based on your schedule. In any case, it would be a slip of the tongue, a character mistake.

Lord of War (2005)
Corrected entry: In "Weapons of Trade" in the special features section the caliber of the M16/AR15 is listed as 7.62mm when in fact it is 5.56mm.
Correction: Mistakes in the bonus features do not count as movie mistakes.

Giant (1956)
Corrected entry: There are two kinds of oilfield equipment used in the movie: derricks that drill a well, and pump units that pump the oil out of the well. The movie reverses the uses of the equipment. Jet Rick is shown drilling his well with a pump unit. In a later scene, drilling derricks, visible through the restaurant window, are shown over the established oil wells on the Benedict ranch.
Correction: They do have all in one units: A derrick with a pump at the base. You can search Google for the pictures.

The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005)
Corrected entry: Although the scenes showing poor Andy's erection spitting up urine onto his face when he tries to pee are pretty funny, they're also impossible. When a man gets an erection, a little plug moves into place to block his urethra, since men have only one tube for urine and sperm. Which means a man can't urinate when he's fully erect.
Correction: As a man that has awaken with an erection, I can confirm that it is possible to urinate with a full erection.

Freeway (1996)
Corrected entry: For all the protesting Vanessa's attorney does about her being tried as an adult, he never once mentions the fact that upon her arrest she was not informed of her legal rights or why she was being taken into custody. She was later questioned by two detectives without legal representation and no official record of the conversation was kept, yet they proceeded with the prosecution. Under those circumstances any lawyer worth his salt would make mince meat of a confession from an illiterate, violent tempered victim of ongoing abuse from such a background as Vanessa's.
Correction: Let's start with it's a Hollywood myth that you have to be Mirandized upon arrest. You must be advised of your rights before being questioned by the police. Then, a 15 year old doesn't automatically get legal or even parental supervision during an interrogation. The age varies state by state on whether a parent must be present. She has to ask for the attorney. 3rd, not every police interrogation is recorded. Illinois just recently passed a law that states that the questioning of a murder suspect must be video taped.

The Untouchables (1987)
Corrected entry: You can't switch juries mid-trial, not even in 1930s Chicago. (01:49:15)
Correction: Funny, but that is pretty much exactly what happened: His only chance of reducing his sentence now was to influence the jury and during the summer before the trial, Capone's gang began the process of bribing and threatening all of the twelve jurors. Realising what Capone would do, Judge Wilkerson made other plans, and on the day of the trial he openly switched jurys with another trial. The following day, after nine hours of deliberation, the new jury found Capone guilty of some, but not all, counts of tax evasion. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/crime/caseclosed/alcapone.shtml, http://www.crimelibrary.com/gangsters_outlaws/mob_bosses/capone/trial_26.html.

Shrek 2 (2004)
Corrected entry: When Shrek, Donkey and Puss are undercover stealing the potion in the Fairy Godmother's factory, Shrek greets a fellow worker with TGIF (Thanks God it's Friday), but the day after in the scene at the bar we hear the Puss say "I hate Mondays". We know that only one night has passed so it can only be Saturday.

Screamers (1995)
Corrected entry: When Peter Weller is in the rocket shuttle and about to leave for Earth he contacts the military and advises them of his departure. The reply is instant - and impossible - Weller is on a distant planet at the edge of the solar system. The radio waves would take years to reach Earth and just as long for them to send a reply.

King Kong (2005)
Corrected entry: Given Kong's massive size and weight, there is no way he could have been moved off Skull Island by the boat's crew members, let alone be transported to NY on the ship. In a similar vein, how in the world could they have gotten Kong into the Broadway theater, and how could the stage have supported his incredible weight?
Correction: They show Kong knocked out. They show Kong in New York. They do not show anything in between. They could have called for more ships since Skull Island was now found or any number of possibilities. As for the stage, it could have been reinforced.
Correction: Clockwise spinning storms do occur in the Northern Hemisphere, they are just rare events. http://www.usatoday.com/weather/resources/askjack/wfaqtorn.htm http://www.spc.noaa.gov/faq/tornado/ (Most tornadoes - but not all - rotate cyclonically, which is counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere and clockwise south of the equator.)
