Man of Steel (2013)

Question: Given that the Kryptonian ship was 20,000 years old, how did it have a suit ready made for Clark? Especially given it's not in standard Kryptonian/House of El colors.

Teru_Kage

Chosen answer: Considering the ship was still working, with active security, and was key to Zod's plan, we can safely assume that the suit was created under the instruction of Jor-El, who was placed in the system by Clark.

Man of Steel (2013)

Question: Was the neck snapping scene an homage to the comics? In order to save Superman from mind control, Wonder Woman killed a villain by snapping his neck, much to the anguish of Superman. Did the writers of MOS create this similar situation to parallel that comic book scene?

Teru_Kage

Chosen answer: Nothing, as of yet, has come from the writers acknowledging the similarity. Coincidence at best.

MasterOfAll

Answer: Superman snapped Zod's neck and killed him along with the other 2 kryptonian villains way back in Superman vol.2 # 22 October 1988.

Shark Tale (2004)

Question: When Lucky Day tripped and lost the race, was that actually an accident or was that part of the race being rigged? Like a fighter taking a fall.

Question: In the TGRI lab, when the Professor is disposing of the Ooze, he places it in a weird looking machine. It has a pyramid like structure with what appears to be a rock of some sort in the center. What is that machine and what is that rock? If it even is a rock? (00:23:05)

Quantom X

Chosen answer: The machine dispose of the ooze. How exactly is not expressed in the film.

MasterOfAll

Question: Throughout the film, are there a series of deliberate 'Back to the Future' references? I noticed two straight away - Daniel says 'If you put your mind to it anything is possible, you can do anything' which is repeated several times during BTTF. Also, when Daniel and Kumiko are at the dance, the song 'Earth Angel' can be heard. The song at the climax of the dance in BTTF. Are these deliberate, as BTTF was a year before this movie?

Professor Lazarus

Chosen answer: No it is not deliberate. what Daniel says is a common saying, and Earth Angel was a popular song. coincidence at best.

MasterOfAll

Answer: Also, Daniel's "put your mind to it you can accomplish anything" (before painting the fence) was used in the first film from 1984 - a year BEFORE Back to the Future came out.

Question: At the beginning, it is shown that some of the video games in the arcade, such as Tapper's, have been moved to different locations throughout the years. Is it possible that any of the characters whose video games have been moved could still return to their games after evacuating once their games plugged in again, even in spite of which extension cords their games get replugged in? (01:41:00)

Answer: Theoretically, yes. as it is shown that the surge protectors serve as a sort of train station. So they could possibly make the transition from one to the other.

The Avengers (2012)

Question: As Banner is transforming into the Hulk and Romanoff is pinned, she says, "I swear on my life I will get you out of this..." But rather than comfort Banner, it seems that this promise is finally what sends him over the edge, prompting him to snarl the question, "Your life?" Why would Romanoff's promise affect him so much? Or am I simply over-analyzing?

Answer: It is not Romanoff's promise that sets him off. Banner is already too far gone from the attack to be comforted.

Question: What is the gender of the giant dragon? Astrid refers to it as the Queen, but Hiccup calls it a he and him several times in their battle with it. The movie is not clear if the dragon is male or female, and the sites I searched about it were just as cryptic. So what is the gender of the giant dragon?

Quantom X

Chosen answer: It is never mentioned. but Astrid only used the term queen as a reference to ants' or bees' hive minds, so as it's referred to as a he every other time, we can assume it's male.

MasterOfAll

Well this was answered in the second film by Hiccup's mother. "Every nest has its Queen... but this is their king!" when she refers to the Alpha, which is a bigger and different dragon than the one in the first film. In this context, the dragon in Part 1 is a Queen, therefore female.

The Wizard of Oz (1939)

Question: More of an observation than a question, but it has occurred to me that the movie leaves a rather significant loose end unresolved. At the beginning of the film, Miss Gulch is going to have Toto destroyed. Nothing happens to change that. Dorothy's adventure/dream in Oz didn't get rid of the real woman back in Kansas who wants her dog dead. Am I missing something, or are we just to assume that because Toto got free from the basket, Miss Gulch didn't notice?

Answer: It is highly assumed that Miss Gulch died in the tornado - she was riding her bike at the time the tornado hit. Many sites online support this theory.Other than that it is never mentioned.

Wall-E (2008)

Question: When Auto shows the captain the video about the president saying life is unsustainable on Earth, you can see the president putting on a helmet before going outside. The air is obviously toxic. So how, 700 years later, are the humans able to breathe when they go back to Earth? The air would be even worse by then.

Zinka17

Chosen answer: After 700 years the toxins were all filtered away through the plants that eventually started to grow. with oxygen being the obvious aftermath.

General questions

I am looking for a movie that played on the scifi channel between 2002-2004 aired very late at night. I caught the last 15 minutes which showed two men fighting in an old west looking indian fort. The men stabbed and beat each other repeatedly and one had a small sickle stuck in him during the fighting. The film ended when the 2 men wrestled each other and rolled into a bear trap which killed them both, then some people rode to the fort, opened the room the men were in, looked at them, and then closed the door. The credits rolled then. Last thing that might help, no one said a word during the entire last 15 minutes as I remember.

Answer: The film you're looking for is "Ravenous".

General questions

I saw a short animated film back in the 80's shown at an animation film festival. About 2-3 minutes long. Basically simple pen & ink with almost no color. A drawing of a muscular man, chained to a concrete slab, who is dragging it through a desert for some unknown reason (to reach a destination to be freed of it?) and all the while he is tormented by a creature (ghost? goblin? spirit?) riding on that slab who tries to give him words of encouragement, but is way too happy to do the man any good. The end of the film shows that the man dragging the slab is, in fact, going around in a perpetual figure-8. Any idea what this short animated film is called and where I can see it again? YouTube?

CCARNI

Chosen answer: The short film you described, was featured in MTV's animated short television show "Liquid Television" from the 90's. there was no title given for the short.
