Kung Fu Panda (2008)

Question: Why didn't Tai Lung kill Zeng? And when Tai Lung says to Shifu "I have come home, master" why did he call Shifu master? Was it to show that he still had a bit of respect for him after everything he did for Tai Lung?

THE GAMER NEXT DOOR

Chosen answer: He didn't kill Zeng because he wanted Shifu to know he was coming. And he called Shifu master because he was mocking him.

Starship Troopers (1997)

Question: Is there any reason the humans can't simply use nukes, chemical weapons, fuel-air bombs, or bioweapons,, any kind of especially powerful, destructive bomb, shot from long distance, dropped from a plane, or better still, orbit, to fight the bugs? Yes, of course there are big downsides to any such action, but this does not strike me as a society restrained, patient, enlightened or with sufficient foresight to care about those.

dizzyd

Chosen answer: They do use nukes (to clear out bug caves) and fuel-air bombs (like they do before landing troops). It's possible biological and chemical weapons don't work on the bugs because of their physiology. Only nukes and Thermobaric weapons work.

lionhead

Answer: Nukes, chemical, and bio weapons would render the planets uninhabitable. Not a goal when they want to colonize.

I have already stated these people are not that far-thinking.

Question: When the crew are in the two cages hanging down and then start climbing up the side, Will is talking about getting to the black pearl. Someone in the other cage says something like, "actually it can be done with six", followed by "oh dear". All the men in both cages suddenly start climbing frantically. What was said exactly and what was the joke?

Answer: Will says that once they escape and get back to the Black Pearl, it will take all of them to sail the ship. Leech, the pirate in the other cage, corrects him, saying that, actually, a minimum of six men could crew it. Leech's, "Oh dear," comment is when he and everyone simultaneously realise that whoever escapes first will take control of the ship. Will, Gibbs, and the rest of Jack's crew know that Leech and the other pirates have no loyalty to Sparrow, and if they commandeer the Black Pearl, they'll strand everyone else on the island. It then becomes a race to reach the cliff top first.

raywest

Answer: Will says "we'll need all the men to launch the pearl" Leech corrects him saying they'd only need about six. Both cages realise that they only need one cage, and can leave the others to die. This is why Leech says "oh, dear." And why he tries to continue to climb up after the tribesmen appears on the bridge. Will, most likely wouldn't have left the others though.

MasterOfAll

Answer: Earlier, during the conversation between Will and Gibbs, Gibbs says "Jack's life will end when the drums stop." This is what Leech (the man who says "oh dear") is referring to, as the drums stop.

Answer: The joke is that it has now become a race to escape as either group can getaway without the other and will leave them behind.

Rise of the Cybermen (1) - S2-E8

Question: This and the next episode credits John Lumic with the creation of the Cybermen. However, in "The World and Time", it appears the Master creates the Cybermen. Which is the correct line?

Movie Nut

Chosen answer: This episode takes place on an alternate Earth. This is where this version of the Cybermen were created. However the Cybermen first debuted in 1966 in the episode "The Tenth Planet". Originating from the planet Mondas. So both are true. The Master's Mondasian Cybermen, and Lumic's Cybus Cybermen.

MasterOfAll

In classic There were Cybermen from this universe which were people whose bodies were failing so they used spare parts to become Cybermen they came from places like Mondas it was destroyed so they went to some other plants to live. The new Doctor Who rise of the Cybermen takes place in an alternative universe where people's brains were put in Cybermen suits these Cybermen ended up coming through to are universe. Matt Smith's last season the Cybermen were mentioned to being from this universe. The Cybermen the master used in the world and time - the master had people's Souls uploaded in gallifreyan technology and then she downloaded them into Cybermen suits. So you have original Cybermen/ alternative universe Cybermen/ back to original Cybermen/ Then Masters Cybermen/ and then Cybermen from Peter Capaldi's episodes to do with the original.

The original Cybermen planet was destroyed but they were seen on other planets.

Question: Why couldn't Po open the gates to the ceremony but his father could when Oogway declares Po the Dragon Warrior?

Roman Curiel

Chosen answer: They were locked.

MasterOfAll

Why lock them at the beginning of the ceremony only to unlock them before it's over? I believe this is a continuity error.

Question: When Alex and Clear go to the mortuary and talk to Bludworth, he says that the only way to stop Death is to disrupt the order in which they die in. When Alex saves Carter's life before he dies from the train, shouldn't that have disrupted the order and prevent Death from claiming the rest?

Answer: No. It only stops death from going after its current target, and moves onto the next one.

MasterOfAll

Answer: When all of the others are dead then death goes to claim the one that was skipped.

Answer: Peter could have webbed him up and called the police anonymously.

MasterOfAll

Very likely. However, there was a deleted scene in which Peter, out of anger over Gwen's death, almost beats Harry to death.

Yes. We also see Goblin getting knocked out when all hell breaks loose, and the gears all break apart. Chances are, Peter just webbed him up. (Although, as the other response says, he also got beaten up in a deleted scene.)

Logan (2017)

Question: This question and answer may contain spoilers. The film made it seem like once the mutant children cross the Canadian border, they would be safe. Dr. Rice (I believe it was him) even says they (the Reavers) need to hurry or they'll lose the children if they cross. My question is why? Did I miss something? Who was suppose to meet the children in Canada? Or is Dr. Rice saying they can't follow the children into Canada, and if so, why not? Alkali Lake was in Canada and it doesn't seem they have any regards for laws and borders. And surely if the children were that valuable, or the need to destroy them so important, why would Dr. Rice not send his army of Reavers to battle whoever was helping the children?

Bishop73

Chosen answer: It is subtly shown that Rice has a deal with the US government to conduct his business without conflict, something he won't have in Canada. There is also a strong theory that the people helping the children is Department H. The Canadian organization that started the super team, Alpha Flight.
