Continuity mistake: In the final airport chase, when Pacino and De Niro are at the end of the runway, an airplane lands. It is first filmed nose-on, then the shot switches immediately to a from-behind shot after the plane has passed overhead. The plane in the nose-on shot is a Boeing 747, evidenced by the "bulb" above the cockpit area. The plane in the from-behind shot is definitely NOT a 747 - no bulb.

Continuity mistake: The ambulance that de Niro steals at the start of the film has a red stripe on the sides, but for the remainder of the film there is also a silver 'L'-shaped graphic as well.

Continuity mistake: After the first wave of police cars does the "demolition derby" across the spike strip, they show some cops running out to stop the next group of cars. When they do that, the spike strip is not in the street. Then the scene shifts to a close up of the cop cars skidding to a stop directly in front of the spike strip, which has now re-appeared.

Continuity mistake: When they torch the ambulance, you can see a dealership emblem that says "LEADER" right above the Chevrolet emblem on the back door of the ambulance. It is visible right after Chris puts the bomb in. In all other shots with the ambulance, this emblem isn't there. Obviously the "LEADER" ambulance is a "fake" that they used just to burn and destroy.

Continuity mistake: In the shoot-out after the bank heist, Vincent's rifle starts out as an AR-15 style with a carry-handle, but by the time he catches up to Mike, it switches types and has no carry-handle.

Suggested correction: I don't think that's true. Pacino carries an FN FNC throughout the sequence, identifiable by its distinctive handguard. I just watched the whole heist and shootout and I don't see Pacino using an AR-15, or any carrying handle. IMFDB has several annotated photos of the sequence and they make no mention of this, whereas they normally call out this kind of continuity issue (like in Sicario's border crossing scene when Del Toro's MP5 changes to an SD). https://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Heat#FN_FNC.

Continuity mistake: When the crew's black van is in front of IGM, Trejo turns the parking lights off and there's a shot of Neil coming out the door to hide in the corner. Then they switch to the police monitor where Vincent is watching Neil, and it shows the van's lights are still on.

Continuity mistake: The armored car robbery takes place in the early morning. Waingrow pulling on his clothes, the light in the sky all say early day. By the time Pacino arrives to survey the scene it's pitch black and all the bodies are still on the ground.

Suggested correction: The robbery takes place around sunset. It was filmed near the intersection of Venice Blvd. And Convention Center Dr, southwest of the convention center itself. When Cheritto turns around at 11:37 after Waingro's "Get back," you can see the convention center in the background. That greenish upper section faces SW, which would be in shadow in the morning, but here we see sun reflecting off it. Waingro freshens up in a restaurant bathroom before the robbery (the sign on it says customers only).

Continuity mistake: In the armoured car robbery, when the explosive charge is fired, the windshields of the row of nearby cars all explode outward toward the blast instead of inward away from the blast.

Continuity mistake: In the parking lot, when Waingro escapes being executed, Neil and his crew spread out and look for him. It is nighttime and the sky is clear. Yet when Neil looks out to the distance, it is raining in the last shot.

Continuity mistake: During the scene in Edie's house in which Neil first asks Edie to go away with him 'somewhere', when the camera shot faces Neil he is shown wearing only his white shirt. When the shot changes to the camera facing Edie over Neil's shoulder, we see the dark border of Neil's suit jacket in the lower corner of the screen. This continues throughout the scene, as the shots repeat back and forth with Neil in white shirt only as he faces the camera and wearing his jacket as he has his back to the camera.

Continuity mistake: Vincent's hair (bangs) is at least 3 different styles in the coffee shop scene.

Continuity mistake: In the bank robbing scene, they enter on the street level and since no elevators or stairs are used by them the bank must be on that same level. However, looking out of the windows during the scene it appears they are on an upper floor in the building.

Visible crew/equipment: When Neil (De Niro) breaks into Van Zant's apartment and shoots him, watch as Van Zandt flies backward. You can see a wire running up through the bottom of his sweat pants.

Neil McCauley: Roger Van Zant?
Roger Van Zant: Yeah, who's this?
Neil McCauley: You know who this is.
Roger Van Zant: Yes I do, yes I do. I sent a guy to deliver the package. He didn't call, is everything all right?
Neil McCauley: Tell you what, forget the money.
Roger Van Zant: What?
Neil McCauley: Forget the money.
Roger Van Zant: Wh...it's a lot of money. What are you doing? What do you mean, forget the money?
Neil McCauley: What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone.
Roger Van Zant: I don't understand.
Neil McCauley: 'Cause there's a dead man on the other end of this fuckin' line.

Trivia: The final shoot-out scene at the airport with DeNiro and Pacino running across runways, avoiding being run over by jets, and winding up in the brush is an homage to the final scenes in 1968's 'Bullitt'. (02:38:00 - 02:44:00)

Question: In the scene right before the big bank heist, a detective comes into the situation room informing the team that a CI Hugh Benny had a tip about Neil McCauley looking at Far East National Bank. How the heck did Waingro (working for Benny and VanZandt) even know about this score? McCauley hadn't even discussed it with Kelso when Waingro took down the armored car.

Answer: Waingro helped Van Zandt track down Trejo. Waingro then tortured Trejo and threatened his family if he didn't give up McCauley. With his back to the wall, Trejo gave Waingro and Hugh Benny the details of the bank heist, but Waingro killed Trejo's family anyway and beat Trejo almost to death. Benny then gives the tip to the police on Van Zandt's order.

BaconIsMyBFF

I wonder how Trejo was tracked, I don't remember his name being revealed during Waingro's time with the crew, or any other information.

Well, we never see the crew prior to their first heist. Trejo could have given Waingro his name during the planning of that heist.

BaconIsMyBFF

Waingro met this crew only once. How would he know who Trejo is or where he lives? Right before the heist, Trejo is asked to mislead police away from the heist.
