Spider-Man 2

Revealing mistake: When Mary Jane is being pulled toward the tritium when Doc Ock has her, the shot is taken from her feet up to her head. If you look where her dress ends, you can just barely see that instead of having the regular open dress, it is switched with shorts of the same type so you can't see under her dress.

Guy Strad

Continuity mistake: When Peter is on the rooftop, just before he does his "I'm back" line, he begins to run. He runs quite some distance before it goes to slow motion, yet a few shots later during the slow motion, he is back to where he started running. (01:22:05)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: As Ock climbs the building with Aunt May, a girl is on the phone and feels the trembles. She hangs up the phone and gets up to look out the window. At the desk in front of her, there is an employee helping a customer. As the first girl goes to the window, the customer gets up to leave. The tentacle crashes through the side of the building, the camera pans out and the employee helping the customer is away from her desk, the chair is pushed in and the phone is off the receiver.

Audio problem: Just before Aunt May does her hero speech she tells Peter that he 'Did a very brave thing, telling me, and I'm proud'. There is a pause between each clause of the sentence and the 'Telling me' line is obviously dubbed, the shot is from behind but the sound of the line is different.

Audio problem: When Aunt May gives Peter his birthday money, before she says, "Can you believe that it's two years next month since he was taken?", we see her from the side, and the motion of her jaw shows that her lips are moving before she speaks. When she says, "Were I to face the one responsible.", there's another shot of her from the side, and as she continues, ".for what happened", her jaw doesn't move at all. In the same shot, when she says, "Oh, I don't know what I'd do", once again the motion of her jaw show that her lips are moving before she speaks. (00:13:20)

Kylantha

Continuity mistake: When Peter is being fired from his pizza place job, there is a clock behind him. While the clock is on Peter the second hand is near the 4. The shot then changes to the boss and then goes back to Peter about 10 seconds later, so the second hand should be on the 6 or the 7, but it is up at the 2.

Continuity mistake: On the way to the play when Spider-Man is chasing the criminals in the car, the passenger is using a shotgun which switches to an automatic weapon which then switches back to a shotgun in a matter of seconds. There is no time for him to switch the guns that fast in the scene.

Continuity mistake: When the car flies past Peter's head, we have a full view of the tire rim which means we are looking at the side of the car. But this view is only possible if the car were thrown in head-first or tail-first, which wasn't the case.

Continuity mistake: At the end of the "I've changed" conversation with Mary Jane, the taxi is right next to her as she turns towards it (you can see its roof next to her face), yet in the very next shot she has to cross the street to get to it.

Sereenie

Continuity mistake: When Harry is held upside-down by Doc Ock, his tie is tacked to his shirt partway down (so it doesn't fly in his face). A couple seconds later, on the balcony, Harry's tie is not tacked.

Continuity mistake: While in the bank trying to get a loan, there is a desk with two chairs behind Peter and Aunt May. As Doc Ock throws the vault door in their direction and Peter kicks the two of them out of danger, there are no chairs at the desk behind them.

Factual error: When Peter calls Mary Jane to apologize for missing her show, he puts in two coins and then dials seven digits. By the time New York City pay phones went from 25 to 50 cents, a caller was required to dial eleven digits for all calls.

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Aunt May is outside her house, packing things into boxes, we see a close-up of her holding what appears to be a large black leather shoe at upper chest level. The next shot is a wide shot of the yard, and now she's holding it in a different position near waist level.

Continuity mistake: The spiderweb that Harry brushes aside is missing from two previous shots: from inside the secret lair looking out at Harry, and from the reverse shot looking into the lair.

Continuity mistake: In the final conversation between Peter and Mary Jane at his doorway, the lighting on his face switches in every shot.

Phoenix

Continuity mistake: When John Jameson and Mary Jane are walking down the stairs during John's celebration party, there are two people halfway down the staircase standing by themselves. When it does the closeup of John and Mary Jane, there are four people now standing in that spot.

Factual error: The only elevated trains in Manhattan are Metro North that goes to Connecticut and the N, Q, R, W line that goes to Brooklyn/Queens, and that line goes over a bridge. None of these trains are elevated in mid-Manhattan; and most certainly, the end of the subway line would not just be a big metal "bumper" that leads into the water.

Other mistake: The Spider-Man outfit that Peter throws in the trash appears to either have the head attached to the body or a very long neck on the mask. It hangs too far down over the edge of trash can to be the same, separate headpiece, with a short neck, that Jameson receives from the trash collector. (Though this may be a deliberate nod to the comic book, it is still a mistake.)

Suggested correction: Jameson must have tucked the neck up inside the mask so it would hang correctly on the wall. If he hadn't, the extra material would have bunched up under the chin area and pushed the face upward. Jameson clearly wanted the mask to "look" straight ahead.

Phixius

This entry isn't about how Spider-Man's costume was hung up on Jameson's wall. It's about how the mask was attached to the body portion of the suit when Peter threw it in the trash.

May Parker: We need a hero, couragous sacrificing people, setting examples for all of us. Everybody loves a hero, people line up for 'em, cheer for them, scream their names, and years later tell how they stood in the rain for hours just to get a glimpse of the one who told them to HOLD ON a second longer. I believe theres a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble. And finally gets us to die with pride. Even though sometimes we have to be steady and give up the thing we want most, even our dreams.

Trivia: In the scene where Peter drops his books on the college grounds and bends down to pick them up, a black bag comes by and smacks Peter in the face. The person carrying the bag is director Sam Raimi.

Question: What exactly does Aunt May mean when she says, "What do you mean 'we'" after Spider-Man tells her, "We sure showed him"? Is she just being modest?

Answer: She's actually being funny because she thinks that she did all the work, instead of Spider Man.

Allyson

Answer: I later found out it could have been a reference to a Spider-Man comic. In the comic, after he rescues a girl from a bad guy, she says "We sure showed him!" There is a thinking bubble by Spider-Man's head saying "We?" It's like the conversation in the movie but in reverse.
