Continuity mistake: When Lucy meets George for the first time she is wearing a transparent blouse which is tied with a string at the neck. While they talk outside the blouse is closed and the knot is in the middle, but when she enters his car the blouse is open and the knot is shifted to the left. A similar thing happens in the following scene when she is sitting on a railing, looking at the community center, and her blouse closes between shots. (00:13:20 - 00:15:05)

Factual error: When Bullock and Grant are stuck in traffic they are on the ramp of the upper level of the Queensboro bridge. No trucks are allowed on the upper level of this bridge, so the RV, the truck behind the RV (the one with the two guys who are looking in the bathroom window), and the other trucks that are stuck in traffic on this ramp would not, in reality, be allowed there. (00:55:15)

Continuity mistake: When Lucy gets hit in the head by a tennis ball she falls to the floor. In a wide shot, you can see her ponytail by her shoulder, and it's a bit messy and parted, but in a closeup of her asking if she has concusion, her hair is all in one nicely combed ponytail. (00:53:00)

Hamster

Continuity mistake: When Lucy is eating outside with her parents, in the background a man in a blue shirt walking a dalmation passes them twice. (00:15:45)

Continuity mistake: After Lucy has spent the night at George's place they sit down outside on a huge flower container. Lucy puts her bag next to her with the handles pointing straight up. They talk, and when we see the bag next it has opened up and the handles are crossed. (00:46:55)

Continuity mistake: When Sandra is helping Hugh shop for clothes, she has clothes draped over her left arm while trying to fix the mannequin she has broken. She gets frustrated by what Hugh says and stalks out of the store. The clothing she had been holding is gone; we never see her drop or throw the pieces down. (00:23:40)

Continuity mistake: When Sandra Bullock is having breakfast with her father towards the end there's a shot which ends with her having her spoon at the level of her bowl. The shot changes and now the spoon is in her mouth.

Continuity mistake: When George Wade and Lucy Kelson are dining in the restaurant talking about who will replace her, Lucy starts to put a piece of bread in her mouth, although her hand never goes near her mouth she is suddenly eating the bread.

Pam-I-am

Audio problem: At the divorce hearing, Lucy gets water thrown at her and turns around stating repeatedly, "Water up my nose.". When she says that, her mouth/jaw doesn't move at all. That is not due to her being turned away from the camera, as just after, while she says something else, her mouth/jaw *can* be seen moving. (00:22:55)

Sereenie

Continuity mistake: When George and Lucy are on the boat, after Lucy almost falls down the steps, they are standing at a table. When they both go to walk to the end of the boat, Lucy picks up her wine glass. When she gets to the end of the boat, it is gone. She couldn't have put it down because when the shot widens, it isn't on the table in front of them.

Continuity mistake: During the baseball game scene, Sandra blocks Mike Piazza from getting the ball, and everyone around her gets mad. You can see the girl behind her and everyone else around sitting down, but in the next shot it shows Sandra on the big screen, and everyone is standing up again.

Other mistake: Alicia Witt's character is introduced as June CARVER, but at the film's end titles (and also on the DVD's cast list screen) she is billed as June CARTER. On the audio commentary, writer Marc Lawrence explained the name change... but it seems that he forgot to let the titling people know. (00:47:05 - 01:32:25)

Continuity mistake: When Lucy and George talk at the party you see in the background behind Lucy the same couple passing by twice. (01:09:30)

Trivia: In the trailers (on the radio in the UK, anyway), there's a bit with Hugh Grant saying something like "This is no job for a grown up - drinking without being responsible...actually, it doesn't sound that bad". This was never in the finished film.
