Rosemary's Baby

Factual error: Rosemary calls Dr. Hill from a pay phone and says, "The baby's due on Tuesday, you remember you told me June 28th" (and June 28th 1966 does fall on a Tuesday). In the previous scene in Dr. Sapirstein's office his receptionist is making an appointment "next week" for a patient and that date is "July 10th" indicating that if Rosemary is due on June 28th (which she says is next Tuesday) the dates do not match and it must still be the week of June 20th which is at least two weeks before July 10th. Continuity mistake: Minnie gives Rosemary a cup of Lipton's tea as she sits in a chair in front of a book case. We first saw these books when Rosemary sat down and they were all vertical, but then when she gets the cup of tea the books in both shelves are slanting to the left. (02:11:20 - 02:13:20)

Continuity mistake: In the scene after learning she was pregnant, Rosemary cooks herself a "blue" steak (barely seared on either side), yet when placed on the table, and she commences eating, the depth of heat penetration indicates "rare" - much more cooked than "blue". (00:59:00)

Continuity mistake: Rosemary tells Doctor Hill about Hutch and we get a chance to look at her wrist watch, which says 2:20. In the previous scene as she talks to Doctor Hill in the phone booth he tells her to meet him at his office at 8:00. (01:48:10)

Continuity mistake: As they are chasing her, Rosemary gets back into the apartment and looks up Elise Dunstan's phone number in her phone book. The last four digits of the phone number are 2012, but if you look at her as she's dialing, that's not the number she phones. (01:55:55)

Character mistake: After Rosemary has the baby and they tell her it died, she calls them liars. They give her an injection and she passes out. When Guy comes back, he says that the Doctor says she was suffering from prepartum (not an actual word) symptoms. It would actually be postpartum.

Suggested correction: Actually, it depends on which time her 'crazies' were from. If Guy was referring to how she acted while still pregnant, then pre-partum would be correct. If referring to her tantrums after the birth, then it would be post-partum.

Continuity mistake: Rosemary looks for her book "All Of Them Witches" and Guy replies, "Oh, I put it in the garbage" as she reaches around the bookcase. In the next shot she's touching a different book with her left hand. (01:35:50)

Deliberate mistake: As Hutch entered their apartment with his overcoat buttoned, his gloves were in the jacket pocket underneath and not in the overcoat. Later we see him take them out of his jacket and leave them on the coffee table as he speaks to Roman. Before he leaves Guy goes to the closet and gets Hutch's coat and the one lone glove appears where it shouldn't be, back in his overcoat pocket. (01:01:50 - 01:07:20)

Trivia: The director, Roman Polanski, started the trend of an actor walking into a room and then going to the left, or right, and disappearing behind a wall and the audience when they first saw this shifted to their right, or left, so they could see around the corner. I don't think the director expected this but it did happen.

Question: When Rosemary gets into the Castavets right at the end, she walks past a man, and then the man says something. She then replies "Be quiet, you're still in [some location]" What was that about...?

Chosen answer: Roman Castavet is trying to get Rosemary's attention, and she says "Be quiet, you're in Dubrovnik, I can't hear you". That was in reference to the fact that Roman and Minnie were supposed to have gone to Majorca or Dubrovnik after she found out that Roman was supposedly dying (which was just a lie Rosemary was told so she wouldn't suspect them when her baby was taken). Roman and Minnie got in a cab and pretended to go to the airport, but never left town.
