Christine

Question: What song is playing as Christine is crushing Darnell against the steering wheel?

Answer: "I've Got A Girl Named Boney Maroney" by Larry Williams.

Question: Has anyone who worked on the film given an explanation as to why Christine's odometer was running backwards? If so, what was the reason?

Answer: The odometer ran backwards to symbolise going "back in time," explaining both the quick body repair after damage and the radio playing only 50's music.

Question: How were the scenes that show the car repairing itself filmed? The film was made before the latest computer graphics were around and I would like to know how those effects were done.

Chosen answer: Hydraulics and wires were set up inside the body to pull the panels in and crumple them. Then the film of this happening was simply run backwards.

Question: Why was Arnie so obsessed with buying Christine the first time he saw her?

Answer: Because he simply fell in love with the car, knowing he could restore it to magnificence. It is possible the magic allure of Christine affected him from that first moment.

Question: Darnell stated that he knew a guy that had a car like Christine once and that he killed himself in it. Are the guy he knew and LeBay's brother the same person?

Answer: Yes.

Question: I have two questions. 1) If Christine can fix herself, why was she in such a state when Arnie first bought her? 2) Did Arnie do all the repairs on Christine or did Christine fix herself bit by bit to give the illusion that Arnie was doing it?

Answer: She is influenced by the person owning her. It's love. The love was gone when Arnie bought her, since her last owner died. But Arnie was in love with her and Christine fell in love with him overtime because of his dedication to fixing her. Because of the love for each other, the magic that powers Christine becomes more powerful, until she is eventually able to fix herself. During his time fixing her, she eventually takes over the repairs, but at first he was the one doing the fixing. It's possible her state contributed to her fixing herself, so the more she is repaired, the more she is able to do herself as well.

Plot hole: George Lebay says that his brother died "6 weeks ago" inside Christine and that's why he's selling it. Later that evening after Arnie leaves his house and goes to Darnell's, Will Darnell says he "knew a guy who owned a car like that" and "the bastard killed himself in it." If it's only been 6 weeks since his death, shouldn't Darnell have recognized the car? It's not like there were lots of red Plymouth Furies (custom order color) running around the small town, let alone the USA, even in 1978. (Also considering how production even had a hard time finding them for the movie).

Suggested correction: He says he knew a guy with a car like that. It doesn't have to be the same colour or even the same generation. Just a Plymouth Fury.

Darnell basically said he knew THE brother of Lebay, not just some guy who owned a similar car. Darnell described Lebay's brother based on the story. Again, it was him, not just some other guy.

Trivia: One time Alexandra Paul brought her twin sister Caroline to the set and successfully pranked director John Carpenter by having Caroline shoot a scene. Carpenter, very amused, later said he could tell there was something odd going on when they shot the scene... but couldn't quite figure out what it was.
