Continuity mistake: In a bus scene Crash is shown holding a guitar talking about being in the majors. In one scene he's just holding the guitar, the next he has a pair of sunglasses in his hand while holding the guitar. The next scene the sunglasses are gone. A couple of shots later the guitar is sitting in the seat next to him. When Laloosh challenges Crash to a fight, he's holding the guitar again.

Factual error: In the opening game of the movie the announcers at the ball park are referring to the visiting team as the Peninsula White Sox. The team shown on the field is the Hagerstown Suns. (00:07:00)

Factual error: In the opening narration, Annie Savoy states, "...there are 108 beads in a Catholic rosary and there are 108 stitches in a baseball." While it's true that a baseball has 108 stitches, there are only 59 beads in a Catholic rosary.

Continuity mistake: When "Nuke" Laloosh throws the ball through the window of the bar's back door, the door is closed. After Crash Davis punches Laloosh the back door is now wide open.

Continuity mistake: When Crash is arguing with the umpire about the missed call at the plate, he turns to grab his face-mask and says it's a "C--sucking call". He then turns his back to the camera and puts on the catcher's hard hat backwards. In the next shot, as the umpire is charging him and Crash turns to respond, the hard hat is under his arm.

Factual error: When Kevin Costner says that if the pitcher starts him out with a curve-ball he is taking him downtown, he strides to the plate and pounds a homer over the left field wall. However, the shot that shows the ball actually flying over the wall shows the distance at 410 feet. No minor league or even major league ball park is 410 to left field, indicating that the shot was actually taken in right center, no where near where Costner's ball actually went out.

Suggested correction: I have played at old minor league stadiums with much larger dimensions. One must check the schedule of the Durham Bulls and find dimensions prior to making this claim.

Other mistake: Nuke is having a great game. Crash comes out BEFORE the first pitch to the next batter and instructs him to "throw the next one at the mascot." Nuke does. Crash tells the batter not to dig in because he doesn't now where it's going, etc. The next pitch is a strike (making the count 1-1), yet everyone cheers and Crash throws down to 3rd base like it was a strikeout and the batter walks away.

Continuity mistake: At the bar after his first win, Nuke challenges Crash to a fight outside and a crowd gathers. A blonde girl is seen walking out and standing with the crowd. The shot reverses, and Crash walks out of the bar. Behind Crash, the blonde girl is seen walking out of the bar. The shot reverses again, and she is back standing beside Nuke.

Continuity mistake: When Laloosh is tied to the bed, while being read to, his hands change from just hanging to holding on to the bed posts on the headboard as the camera angle changes.

Continuity mistake: When Crash tells the manager to scare the young players for incentive, he walks into the shower with an armload of bats and throws them down. When he gets to the part of his speech, it's a simple game, you catch the ball...., his hat disappears and he leaves.

Continuity mistake: In the game against the Generals, Crash and Nuke have a conversation on the mound about Nuke wanting to throw a fastball, while Crash wants him to throw a curve. Following the meeting, the camera is on Nuke, but in the background Crash is putting his mask on over his helmet. The next shot is focused on Crash, who has yet to put his mask on.

Other mistake: In the beginning of the movie, the catcher is in the dugout eating a hotdog in front of his manager. Pretty gutsy (or stupid) thing to do, since no manager would ever allow his players to eat something like that right before or during a game.

Suggested correction: Defying a custom isn't a movie error. Also, considering that dietary restrictions for a Single-A ballclub in 1987 were likely far looser than today, it's possible the manager doesn't actually care.

Continuity mistake: After Crash tells Nuke that his shower shoes have fungus on them, he tosses the flip-flop at Nuke. It lands right near his elbow, next to his body. In the next shot, the flip-flop has disappeared.

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Nuke is pitching a shutout, Crash is giving him a hard time after the first inning about his curveball being flat and his fastball being up. Crash mentions that the fun is now gone and stands up, still wearing his catcher's chest protector. However, in the next shot, the chest protector mysteriously disappears.

Continuity mistake: In the scene towards the end of the film when Crash is in the billiards room and Nuke comes to tell him about making it to the show, there is a painting on the back wall with a sign with the #10 on it. During that scene, the sign changes places several times throughout the shot.

Continuity mistake: When Nuke is having his dream of playing naked, the first baseman, Jose, is wearing a batting glove on his left hand. He throws left-handed, and he wouldn't be wearing a batting glove on his left hand. Also later in the movie when they are having the conversation about Jimmy/Millie's wedding on the mound, Jose shows up, and his batting glove is now on his right hand, as it should be.

Factual error: As Annie is giving an update on how the Bulls had a great June and July, they showed highlights of the Bulls playing a team called the "Mustangs." No team in the Carolina League in 1987 (or 1988 when the movie was released) had that team nickname. She also mentioned "kicking the holy shit out of Greensboro in a three-game set." Greensboro didn't have a team in the Carolina League. They had a team in the South Atlantic League. Teams from different leagues don't play each other.

Other mistake: Towards the end of the movie, when Nuke and his dad come to Annie's house, Nuke wants to sexually celebrate the loss. The phone rings, and Annie answers, but Nuke hangs it up. The phone rings again, and Annie answers again, saying "Yes, he's here." She hands Nuke the phone, and he says, "Hey Skip, what's up?" How did Nuke know it was Skip on the phone?

Plot hole: In the game against Fayetteville, Crash puts down two fingers indicating he wants Nuke to throw the curve. When the camera then shows Nuke shaking him off, you can see Fayetteville has a runner on 2nd. Even in the minors the catcher will mix up the signs so the runner on 2nd couldn't steal them and tip the pitch. He'd never just hold down two fingers.

Skip: You guys. You lollygag the ball around the infield. You lollygag your way down to first. You lollygag in and out of the dugout. You know what that makes you? Larry.
Larry: Lollygaggers.
Skip: Lollygaggers.

Trivia: When the film was shown during the 2003 Baseball Hall of Fame ceremony, Susan Sarandon and her partner Tim Robbins were not invited because of the controversy surrounding their anti-war views on Iraq.
