Question: I've been wanting to finally watch the TV series, but I've never understood one thing... I know the movie is technically not 100% canonical with the series, but I've heard they later tried to connect it with the series with a comic-book adaptation. So should I watch the movie before the series? Or should I just go ahead and watch the series on its own, and treat the movie as an entirely separate "thing"? Or can it be done either way?
Chosen answer: No. It's not at all clear in the film whether Merrick is a first name or surname, with the full name only appearing later in other literature.

Question: Can someone please explain what the whole deal was with the "The music stops" dialogue? I don't understand what it had to do with Lothose, and as to why he never killed her (despite her just sitting there on his lap while he talked)?
AzurethChosen answer: If she listened to the silence (didn't pay attention to what Lothos was saying), then she would be able to ignore what gave him the ability to put her in a trance, and she could then put up a good fight. As to why he didn't kill her when she was just sitting there: for some reason bad guys always have to have the last word (explaining their scheme, what-have-you). Chalk it up to Bad Guy Stupidity.

Answer: I'd say you treat them as 2 separate things. My personal opinion is that you should just watch the series and forget about the movie.
