Continuity mistake: The large front doors to the castle open inwards, as seen when Maurice and Belle enter the castle for their first time. However when Belle makes her deal with the Beast, to stay with him forever, the Beast takes Maurice outside, however he opens the doors outwards. (00:13:05 - 00:23:05)

Continuity mistake: When Maurice enters the castle doors for the first time, he walks forward, calling "Hello ... Hello?", and there are clearly TWO pillars at the side of the door. Then, in the overhead shot, when he calls "I don't mean to intrude...", there is only ONE pillar!! (00:13:15)

Continuity mistake: While Lumiere is seating Maurice in front of the fire, Cogsworth tumbles down the stairs and his nuts and bolts go flying out on the stairs. The camera cuts to Maurice, then back to Cogsworth on the stairs, but all the nuts and bolts are gone. (00:14:40)

Continuity mistake: Whilst Maurice sits in the Masters chair, Cogsworth is knocked down by the trolley with Mrs. Potts on it, and he falls down on the large red part of the carpet. It then cuts to Mrs. Potts, then back to Cogsworth who is still lying down, however now he's suddenly lying on the white part of the rug. (00:15:00)

Continuity mistake: When the trolley cart comes screeching through the lounge and knocks Cogsworth down, you see that Mrs. Potts, Chip and the milk and sugar pot are on the cart. Then when it cuts, and the trolley screeches to a halt beside Maurice, who's sitting down, the milk and the sugar pot have vanished from the trolley. In addition, after Maurice takes a sip out of Chip the teacup, in the following shot of the trolley, a spoon has appeared on it. (00:15:00)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Gaston proposes to Belle, Belle crosses in front of a mirror, and she has no reflection. A second later, Gaston crosses in front of it, and he does have a reflection. (00:17:05)

Continuity mistake: When Gaston comes to Belle's house to propose to her, you can notice that he leaves the door open, but when he backs Belle against it, the door has magically shut. It is definitely the same door - note the items surrounding the door, and the door itself are all the same. (00:17:05 - 00:17:50)

Continuity mistake: When Gaston comes in to propose to Belle, his boots are clean until he puts them up on the table, then suddenly they're covered with mud. (00:17:25)

Continuity mistake: When Gaston comes in to propose to Belle, he sits in the chair and kicks of his boots etc., and between shots there's a bellows hanging by the fireplace which keeps disappearing and reappearing. (00:17:30)

Continuity mistake: When Gaston falls out of Belle's house when she opens the door suddenly, Gaston lands in the pig pen. He gets up, grabs his friend, throws him in the mud, then walks away. In the background you see Belle's house. How could he fall down the stairs and what looks like over 20 feet away into the pig pen? (00:18:00)

Continuity mistake: There are a row of nails in the bottom of the front of Belles wooden porch door which disappear later in the movie. (00:18:05 - 00:48:45)

Continuity mistake: When Gaston flies into the muddy pond, Le Fou walks to the edge of the bank and right by the bank is a large bush of long green reeds. However when it cuts to a closeup of Le Fou saying "So, how'd it go?", the reeds have vanished. Reeds also apppear in the background, around the pond. (00:18:10)

Continuity mistake: When Gaston climbs out of the muddy puddle, he storms off, and it shows Belle's house in a wideshot, with the stone walls surrounding the porch with nothing on them. Then it cuts to a closeup of Belle emerging from the door, but now there's a bucket of seed, and some chickens on the walls. (00:18:30)

Continuity mistake: In the scene after Gaston proposes to Belle, Belle walks out of the door and then to the barn. As she passes the cellar doors, saying "...Me. The wife of that borish, brainless...", you can see that there is a small window either side of the cellar doors. However, later on into the film, when Maurice and Belle are trapped in the cellar, Chip gets Maurices invention to work. Then, as the machine hurtles towards the cellar doors, the small window on the left side of the cellar doors has vanished! (00:18:40 - 01:12:05)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Belle first comes to the gate castle to find her father's hat, she pushes the left side of the gate that's already partly open. But when her father came, he opened the right side of the gate and slammed it shut. How did the left side of the gate open? (00:20:05)

Continuity mistake: When Belle talks to her father through the bars, when he is held prisoner, between the first two shots, Maurices arm changes from sticking out of the middle bars to out of the side bars. (00:21:35)

Continuity mistake: When the Beast shows Belle to her room, in a wideshot you can see the oval centrepiece of the foot of the bed has a large purple rose painted on it and it has a plain red border. In a later scene after Mrs. Potts and Chip leave Belle's room, the purple rose and red border have vanished from the centrepiece, which is now only decorated with evenly spaced gold dots. (00:24:35 - 00:31:05)

Continuity mistake: When the Beast shows Belle her room, she walks in, and in the wideshot when the Beast says "Now if you need anything...", you can see the whole tiled floor around and under the bed is bare. Then seconds later when Belle runs to her bed crying, and the camera pans out the window, there is a large rug on the previously bare floor. (00:24:40)

Answer: In the prologue, it states that the Beast must find true love by his 21st birthday, and that he had been cursed for ten years, so since his relationship with Belle takes place as the deadline approaches, he must have been 10 when he was cursed.
