Continuity mistake: When the Bimbettes sing "Oh, he's so cute!", the hand-pump lever is lowered, only to reappear raised one frame later.
Continuity mistake: In the 'Gaston' song sequence, near the end, Gaston is sitting in his huge antler chair with Lefou. In the wide shot, there is a bear rug behind the chair. The camera does a close up of Gaston, then in the next wide shot, the chair is on top of the bear rug. Also, after this, Gaston gets up off of the chair and in the next shot, both the chair and the rug disappear completely. (00:29:20)
Continuity mistake: After leaving the Bookseller store, in an overhead shot Belle passes a shop just as a woman is pouring water towards the downspout, and in the next shot the shop suddenly has a large hanging pipe sign with a table under the window, the green shutters have vanished on the right window, the half-timber wall pattern and wood trim have changed, etc.
Continuity mistake: When Belle is taking her book back in a basket at the start of the film, its colour changes from red to blue, back to red, then purple in the book shop owner's hand, then finally red on the shelf. (00:03:00)
Continuity mistake: When Gaston comes in to propose to Belle, he sits in the chair and kicks of his boots etc., and between shots there's a bellows hanging by the fireplace which keeps disappearing and reappearing. (00:17:30)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie, Belle shows the Mirror to Gaston and the other people in the village. She's wearing a white apron over her blue dress. When Gaston takes the mirror from her, the apron is gone. A few seconds later, it's back. (01:06:35 - 01:07:20)
Continuity mistake: When Maurice is tossed out of the tavern we get a nice view of the front with its large hanging sign, but after Gaston whispers his plan to LeFou once again we see the front, which is quite different. The sign is gone, and now there are horns hanging on the awning, etc.
Continuity mistake: When Belle opens the door to the kitchen there is no shelf on the wall beside the door, but in following shots one has suddenly appeared with items on it and more things hanging underneath, which changes when Cogsworth lands in the bowl.
Continuity mistake: When Belle is reading her book before Gaston walks in to propose, the bellows hangs from a hook on the fireplace stones under the mantle, but when Gaston is talking to Belle the bellows now hangs directly from the wood mantle, though it's back to the original way when Gaston knocks over the rocking chair.
Continuity mistake: As Belle is walking through the bustling market whilst reading her book, and Gaston is following her, and we hear the lines "Good Day" "Bonjour" "You call this bacon" "What lovely grapes", Belle has no basket hanging from either arm, clearly visible in a behind shot of her walking. It then returns in the beautiful closeup, when the camera pans around with her and she sings, with outstreched arms, "There must be more than this provincial life." (00:07:30)
Continuity mistake: In the slightly changed version with the song 'Human Again' added, when Cogworth, Mrs. Potts, Chip etc. are talking about there being "Something there that wasn't there before...", just after the "Something There" song, In this scene Chip's chip is in the left side of his cup. It is meant to be in the right. (00:53:35)
Continuity mistake: When Belle talks to the baker during the 'Provincial Life' song, the book in her hand flips between shots - watch the spine of the book - it swaps sides. (00:03:45)
Continuity mistake: When the first song ends, Belle has left the village behind and all the crowd watches her ten meters away. In the close-up and the following scenes with Gaston, she's now very close to the crowd plus a baker with a wheelbarrow has suddenly appeared.
Continuity mistake: When Belle opens the door for Gaston there are six steps to the landing leading upstairs, but when Gaston leaves there are only three steps to the landing.
Continuity mistake: When Beast finds Belle in the West Wing room he shouts and she backs up to a nearly destroyed wardrobe, but in the next shot the style of the wardrobe behind her has changed and it's in perfect condition.
Continuity mistake: When Chip fires up Maurice's invention and rides toward the cellar, in the shot facing the cottage we see there's nothing in the cellar handles, but in the closeup as Maurice's machine hacks away at the cellar doors there's a long branch inserted in the handles preventing the doors from opening.
Continuity mistake: When Maurice wakes up and hugs Belle, in this wideshot we see the bag at the foot of the bed and the flap faces Belle, but just before the bag falls over the flap faces the opposite direction, toward the footboard.
Other mistake: At no point in this movie is the background of a room ever reflected in a mirror - even if the characters themselves are reflected in it.
Answer: The servants in the castle are transformed into enchanted objects because of the spell, but there are still plenty of other objects in the castle which were not originally people.
