Continuity mistake: When a particularly unfit Rocky runs up the steps at dawn, when he reaches the top and we go to a different shot, it's a lot lighter. When returning to the previous angle, it gets darker again.
Continuity mistake: In the last fight, several punches are used twice, shot from different angles.
Continuity mistake: When Rocky goes to see Pauly at the meat market, Pauly places a steak in a wrapper and puts a small piece of tape on it. When Rocky leaves after hitting the hanging meat you can see that the piece of tape on the wrapper is much larger than before. (01:13:00 - 01:13:50)
Continuity mistake: There is a dartboard in Rocky's apartment. During a touching scene between Adrian and Rocky, you can see the darts on that board change position/number between shots. No one is playing darts at the time.
Continuity mistake: In the last fight scene, particularly during the close-ups of the fighters, you can clearly see in numerous shots that the auditorium seats are empty. This is contrasted with the earlier shots where it is jam packed as the fighters are entering the ring.
Continuity mistake: When they are discussing who Apollo should fight you see Apollo leaning towards the wall with his arm. In the next shot Apollo has his arm in his pocket. (00:28:40)
Continuity mistake: When Rocky closes the door there are three darts stuck to it. When he comes out there are only two darts. (01:05:15)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Adrian is waiting for Rocky as he is returning home, she is going to surprise him with a gift, Butkus the dog. Rocky is standing about 25 feet from her so he has a good angle to see the entire porch. When she presents him with the dog, he acts surprised like he didn't see him on the side of the cement porch. Plus she is holding the dog leash in her hand. Rocky would have seen the dog immediately.
Continuity mistake: Tony, Apollo's trainer, gets into the ring twice at the end of the last match.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Mickey goes to Rocky's apartment to offer his services as manager, Mickey climbs the stairs and walks up to Rocky's door. The apartment number is on the outside of the door. The scene cuts to Rocky opening the door from inside the apartment. There is no longer an apartment number on the door. This happens before the bathroom door shot.
Suggested correction: This is not an error, the door that Rocky opens in that scene is the bathroom door inside of the apartment, not the front door to the apartment.
The continuity error mentioned above is true. This happens before the bathroom door scene. When Mickey knocks on his door there is a number 2 there. Then 5 seconds later when you see that same front door it has no number on it.
Continuity mistake: In Rocky's first match at the church, when he gets to his corner a towel on the ropes disappears.
Continuity mistake: Around the beginning while Rocky stops by at Adrian's store, she has 3 boxes which become blue cylinders.
Continuity mistake: While Rocky is getting money from a guy, he drives a green cart and is wearing a helmet that disappears between shots.
Continuity mistake: Rocky and Paulie are going to Adrian's place, Paulie has a bottle in his right pocket but then inside the house it's on his left side.
Continuity mistake: The number 2 on Rocky's door disappears during the film.
Continuity mistake: After Rocky gets to Paulie's job he punches a piece of meat and gets some blood on his hands but it disappears a few shots later.
Continuity mistake: Before the two girls ask for an autograph from Rocky, there is an extra with a hat and glasses in the gym that changes his position between shots.
Continuity mistake: When Rocky is inside the pet store for the first time he picks up a can of turtle food and then reaches into his pocket. The next shot is side on and he is holding the can with both hands and Adrian, who was facing side on to the cash register, is now facing it.
Continuity mistake: When Rocky grabs a guy and asks for his money, the guy's hand is either holding Rocky's lapel or not, depending on the shot.
Continuity mistake: Rocky is in the pier walking towards a small yellow truck in front of him. A frame later, from a different angle, the truck has moved to the left side, in front of a car.
