Rocky

Question: How accurate is the boxing depicted in the movie compared to real boxing?

New today Answer: It's pretty inaccurate. Real life fighters would tire out long before the 15th round after throwing so many haymakers (knock out punches). The amount of punches that connect clean without a knock out is also unrealistic. Creed doesn't seem to ever miss with his punches. Even an inexperienced boxer should be able to see at least a few punches coming and move to avoid them, Rocky seems to have no defense at all. The reaction to being punched is exaggerated for dramatic effect (Creed being lifted off the ground due to the power or Rocky's body punches, Rocky's head being thrown back due to the power of Creed's jab). It is also likely, though this is debatable, that the fight would have been stopped prior to the 15th round as both fighters could hardly stand going into that round.

Question: When they promote the fight, why do they say January 1st is America's birthday?

John K

Answer: They mean the entire year, 1976, is America's birth "day," being the bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence. So the fight, taking place on January 1, is the "first sporting event on our two hundredth birthday."

Question: In the movie Rocky, porno actress Jean Jennings is listed in the credits on numerous websites, but I can't place or recall her in the film. According to information and bio info on her, she was married to Joe Spinell, who played Rocky's friend and employer in the film. Was she in Rocky? If so, in what scene?

Chosen answer: If she was in Rocky, she would have been a minor extra because I've never seen her listed in any credits for Rocky on any websites, including Jean Jennings' IMDB page.
