Continuity mistake: During the last game he slides into the endzone and when he stops the centre of his body is clearly on a border of green field and grey field. But when the shot changes to a different camera he is nowhere close to any green field.
Continuity mistake: When Nigel, the Welsh place kicker for the Sentinels, sets up to make his first field goal for 65 yards, he is shown in a close-up with his helmet chin-strap buckled properly. The camera cuts away from him to the ball, then back to him where his chin-strap is dangling loose on his helmet, cuts away again to the ball, and finally back to him a third time where his chin-strap is once again buckled properly.
Continuity mistake: In the beginning of the movie, we see Keanu clean the boat and then throw a football under water. The scene changes between different shots and we can see Keanu sometimes standing on the ground and sometimes in midwater (most noteable before he swims to the surface). (00:01:50)
Continuity mistake: In their game against Phoenix, Clifford Franklin drops an obvious touchdown pass, after which Coach McGinty calls a time out and puts "stick-em" all over Franklin's hands so he can catch the next pass thrown to him. They call the exact same play again, and when they break the huddle, the brief camera shot above the goal post shows them lining up on the ball inside the Phoenix 10 yard line, near the goal line. But when the play starts, they are obviously near mid-field, as Falco lets go of a bomb and Franklin catches it in the end zone. In fact, the camera shot from behind Franklin when he catches the ball shows both teams milling around near mid-field. How did they go from near the goal line back to mid-field between the time they broke the huddle to starting the next play?
Continuity mistake: During one of the film's inspirational moments, Gene Hackman writes in very large letters the word FEAR. Pay close attention to the E in FEAR specifically the bottom straight line that makes the E. At one point, the bottom line on the E appears normal straight, at another point it has a distinctive curve on the bottom line that makes the E. Obviously, this scene was filmed over two different days and the word FEAR was written in two different ways. (01:01:15)
Continuity mistake: Number 12 from San Diego was standing on the side lines when the cheerleaders were doing their sexy dance. The next second #12 is quarterbacking.
Visible crew/equipment: During the middle of the movie, when the team is gathered into a room and spoken to, watch the top of the screen, you can see a microphone slowly protruding into the picture and then go back up.
Continuity mistake: After halftime of the last game is over, Shane Falco is seen making a remarkable entrance onto the field. In one shot we see him running through the endzone to get to his team's sideline. In the next shot you can see he's already there, then it switches back to him in the endzone.
Continuity mistake: In the final game against Dallas, Falco arrives at halftime. The Sentinels are on offense to start the 2nd half and they proceed to get several unnecessary roughness penalties on them, which puts the offense's back against their own goal line. The problem is, in the following camera shot it shows Coach McGinty (Gene Hackman) on the sideline standing beside Falco (the quarterback), but Falco is supposed to be on the field with the offense. The very next camera shot shows Falco lining up behind the offensive line getting ready to run the next play, after the penalty.
Continuity mistake: In the last Game after number 81 drops a long pass, they proceed to go out on the field to try the same play again. However when they start the next play the ball has been spotted at the 3 yard line, and when Keanu Reeves makes his second pass to 81, it is clearly at least 20 yards.
Continuity mistake: In the beginning during the game, Washington towned the kick off in the endzone. Starting at the 20 yard line, they received two delay of game penalties. This should have put them on the 10 yard line but instead they start on the 6 or 7 yard line.
Continuity mistake: For the final touchdown, Keanu throws the ball really far for the deaf guy to catch. And when the deaf guy catches it he falls just over the line, yet in the next scene he's way past the line, but still lying on the ground.
Continuity mistake: During the fight in the bar, the welsh kicker hits one guy in his best parts and grabs the guy by his hair afterwards. The camera switches from in front of the kicker to behind him. Now his hands are nowhere hear his head/hair and there wasn't enough time to let go of the other guy's head. (00:48:50)
Continuity mistake: When Nigel is kicking one of his field goals, you can see the Jumbotron in the background. The entire time, (even during the kick) the Jumbotron is on Danny Bateman, who is on the sideline. The Jumbotron should be showing Nigel as he makes his kick.
Continuity mistake: When the players are in the locker room when the coach talks about FEAR if you look at the play with the letter C by it under the play, it says Z but when he talks about FEAR it's gone.
Continuity mistake: Near the beginning of the film, number 56 (The player who tackled everybody) cut the bridge of his nose in a game. A closeup of his face shows this. The camera cuts away and shows a few other things. Then it shows him talking to the coach and you see blood running down the side of his nose, but the gash has mysteriously disappeared. During the bar fight, the cut has completely healed, then when they're in the locker room getting the "pep-talk," his nose is again cut and taped up.
Continuity mistake: In the scene after the first game where a fan is complaining on radio about the team and the camera is panning Washington the cars in the scene are going backwards on the freeway and streets.
Continuity mistake: When Franklin is body slammed after asking the Dallas player for an autograph, he has grass chunks in his helmet. After the play is over, it shows him again (lying in the same position, indicating he hadn't moved a muscle), but the grass is gone.
Continuity mistake: When Reeves pulls into a parking space and he is met by a group of men, they flip his pickup truck on its side. Then his team mates shoot out the windows of one of the men's car. They then flip the pick up truck back over. The mirror on the driver's side is intact, but should have been crushed.
Continuity mistake: During the first game, one of the coaches says "They are running us up the middle too much". Yet they have not run a play yet. And the next play is a run, straight up the middle.
Answer: He is deliberately making them look bad. Purposely throwing interceptions, running plays that will not gain any yardage. He tells O'Neil he can't play with them because he is lying.
