Revealing mistake: While Lynn is driving, the scenery outside the driver's side window goes white a few times and, other times, with intermittent specks of green tree leaves/shrubs. The white-outs are too low to be representing the sky. For a period of time, the lower third or so of her side window is a horizontal white bar. (00:02:20 - 00:03:38)
Continuity mistake: Three teen boys are abducted to be killed at the church. One breaks free and finds a weapons cache and dies in that room, while his killer dies outside that room. Soon after, the preacher and his wife find the dead church member, then look into the weapons room to see two of the teen boys dead, side by side. But the second hasn't been killed yet, and dies running away from the church later, shot by the the local sheriff by mistake. (00:40:40 - 00:48:00)
Suggested correction: The second boy, the one who got shot outside, was playing dead so the church members would leave him. It is not a mistake in the movie.
Other mistake: When the captive begins her escape, she kicks the bed through the orange portal offscreen, but the portal only starts about a foot off the ground, so the bed would have hit the wall, rather than have gone through the portal.
Audio problem: During the party at the end of the film, the hand clapping and dancing drifts out significantly out of time and sync with the music.
Factual error: When Andy is headed to Mr. Simon's house, a white 90s Lincoln Town Car can been seen in the background, out of place for the 1965 setting. (01:31:45)
Visible crew/equipment: During the torture and murder of Troy there is a moment when Jamie, unable to watch the violence, sits in the kitchen with accomplice Mark Haydon. Jamie and Mark sit in silence at the kitchen table and the film cuts between close-ups of them. In the two close-up's of Mark you can see the boom microphone reflected in the glass of the kitchen cabinet near his head. This happens twice and the microphone lingers both times. (01:15:29)
Continuity mistake: After Sarah finds her father in the bedroom and goes downstairs to get help, the blood pattern on her shirt/upper breasts changes. While the movie is edited to look like one continuous shot, it was filmed in bits and pieces, and the blood pattern was not consistent in some of the shots, it seems.
Continuity mistake: The protagonist dismounts from the bed, grabs a CD, turns it around. Cut, and the CD is held differently and turned the other way. (00:02:00)
Factual error: Mallory tells Florence that the school is in Cumbria. Cumbria didn't exist in 1921. It was created in 1974 from Cumberland, Westmorland and part of Lancashire.
Revealing mistake: When Donovan witnesses a fatal traffic accident on a rainy night, he suffers a mild heart attack and collapses in the street. Although he's lying on his back, unprotected from the downpour, surrounded by rain striking the pavement in both foreground and background, closeups show that no rain strikes his face, his felt hat, or his clothing. Visible crew/equipment: While Maria Leon is talking in the corridor to the head of the house she is applying to, the tip of a microphone appears on the top of the picture. (00:11:10)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie, Miyoko has a drink in her hand while she frustrates the advances of her purple-sweatered coworker. Her grip on the chalice differs depending on the camera angle. (00:01:25)
Revealing mistake: As the guy is being pinned down by the giant hooks you can see for over a minute he can simply escape and slip his hands out. (00:52:30 - 00:53:30)
Other mistake: At the beginning, the arrival board has the cities listed in alphabetical order, but "San Francisco" comes after "San Jose" when it should come before it.
Revealing mistake: When Umi is first descending the stairs in her house, her left hand clips through the left railing.
Visible crew/equipment: The two protagonists are on their tour bus, driving to the tourist pick-up spot. When they get there and get off the bus to greet the tourists, you can see in the shadows behind them the real driver shifting into neutral and trying to sneak out of the way. (00:05:35)
Factual error: Rochester Castle is seen standing alone and isolated from any other settlement. In actual fact it stands on the edge of the City of Rochester and very close to Rochester Cathedral, both of which certainly existed at this time.
