Best comedy movie mistakes of 2011
Factual error: In one of the first major scenes where Matt Franklin and Tori Frederking are being introduced at the rental store - there is a shot where you can see the entrance of the store, and there is an electronic article surveillance detector on either side of the entrance to the store. This technology for use in a video rental store (for VHS tapes) did not exist in the 1980s.
Factual error: The protagonists travel to the wedding resort at Krabi on Thailand's West coast from Bangkok by speedboat in a relatively short time. To travel from Bangkok to Krabi by sea would involve a 1,500 mile journey through the straits of Malacca via Singapore and would have taken them at least 48 hours, non stop, with additional fuel onboard.
Continuity mistake: When Tick Tock freezes Rebecca and Cecil, they are in one position, and when they go to the close up of them frozen, they are in a different position. When it zooms back out again they are in the first position. Also, when they are frozen moving on the conveyor belt, they are back in the position they were in on the close up shot.
Continuity mistake: Neil McCormac - the main character - has a bust up with his American girlfriend. From the first angle he has only got a T-shirt on, then the camera changes angle and he suddenly has a sweater on. Then the camera angle goes back again and he's lost the sweater again.
Factual error: When Aston Kutcher is getting the first text from Natalie Portman, you can see his iPhone is showing June 12 on the lock screen as the current date. The text from Emma have also a date of "06/12/10" next to it within Messages app. On iPhone, the texts received on the same day should only show time at which message arrived, and not a date.
Factual error: As an attorney, I know that one doesn't become an attorney three days after passing the Bar Exam in NY, as Miss Lovenko claims at the end of the movie. She first would have to be approved before the Character Committee, submit Letters of Recommendation of Good Character, and her background would have to be checked. If approved, she would have to wait be sworn in by an Appellate Division Judge, which is about a 6 month process, not 3 days.
Continuity mistake: When George Clooney is deciding whether or not his family's land holding will be sold to a corporation, he is sitting with two of his cousins. From a front view, his cousin, Hugh, opens a book. Then the shot switches to a side view, and it shows Hugh still opening the book.
Continuity mistake: Dylan and Jamie roll under a garage door with sandwiches in their hands. They both walk up the stairs with the sandwiches. As they exit the building onto the roof, there are no sandwiches in their hands. However, they are amazingly eating those sandwiches shortly after.
Continuity mistake: When the car in which EB is a passenger pulls up at the mall and parks, the window in EB's door is completely raised. Then the driver gets out and the window is a couple of inches down from the top. Then EB climbs out of the window - without winding it down - and the window is now about six inches down in the door.
