Best romance movie mistakes of 2001
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Page (Jennifer Love Hewitt) follows Jack onto the beach, and she falls over into the mud while clambering through the bushes, Jack finds her on the floor in the mud and helps her up. When she stands in front of him, she's clean, with no mud in sight.
Continuity mistake: When Hal's co-workers bring him a cake for his promotion, Rosemary takes a slice out for herself. They change shots a couple times, and the size of the piece missing from the cake changes several times, and the layers of the cake change as well.
Continuity mistake: In the scene just before the final attack on the castle, D'Artangan is surrounded by his fellow Musketeers. He gets off his horse and while doing so there is a tight close up where you see clearly that he is wearing his Musketeer outfit that he threw down on the floor in the previous scene. When he finishes talking to the horse (and he is back in his normal clothes) Porthos hands him the Musketeer uniform, which D'Artangan then puts on.
Continuity mistake: After Joe picks his daughter up from her mother's, they drive into Minneapolis. While Joe is talking to his daughter, you can see Macaroni Grill and Galyns out the window as they drive past. After a quick shot of the daughter, when the camera is back on Joe, if you look out the car window again, they are passing the same establishments.
Continuity mistake: On the jousting scene where William loses his helmet, he has a monstrous bruise under his right eye (in the late afternoon). That night at the banquet, there is no trace of the bruise. So far as I know, even a black eye doesn't completely heal that quickly.
00:49:50 - 00:55:25
Factual error: The film is set in 1997. There is a scene where Amelie knocks on a house door and in the background is a new model VW Beetle. These weren't available until early 1998. You can also see several scenes with various new models of Fiat Punto and VW Golf which weren't available until 1999.
Other mistake: When Judith is locked in J.D. and Wayne's basement, she is first wearing a long night gown and she is chained at the ankle to an engine. Then she is given a box of clothes to use and she is next seen wearing shorts - how did she put them on if she was chained at the ankle?
Continuity mistake: In the scene just before Lance Barton gets crushed by a bus, they show the character of Keys, waiting nearby disguised as a homeless man, waiting for the accident to happen. However, there was no reason for him to disguise himself in the first place as nobody on earth could see him anyway. In all the other scenes, just before somebody dies, he wears the same clothes (his heavenly uniform.)
Plot hole: When the Chicago Post first runs the story on Kevin, there is a picture of him on the front page, next to the headline. So anyone who was following the story would have known what he looked like, which would make it impossible for Kevin's friends to get away with pretending to be him.
Continuity mistake: In the scene just after Joe finds his parents, when they are sitting in their trailer talking, his parents have a stuffed clown between them. Just before Joe asks them if there ever was a time when they'd be staring at the moon, the clown is slumped forward with its face not visible. In the next shot, when his mom starts her sales pitch about having clowns for sale, the clown is now standing upright between them.
Factual error: This movie is set in New York. In the beginning of the movie, Ryan (Charlie Sheen) is working as a stock broker and is at work in a high rise office building. Library Tower is clearly visible through the window. This is the tallest building in California. Imagine if the Empire State Building was visible in a movie set in LA.
Continuity mistake: When Varga (Banderas) finds Bonny (Jolie) at Havana, he goes in her room and they finally make love. Later the Colonel that is in love with Bonny comes and Varga shows up at the door naked. When the camera is in front of Banderas he has his hand crossed in front of him all the time, but every time the camera shoots from behind him his hands are by his sides.
