Continuity mistake: The position and intactness of the biscuits changes between shots, as Louison puts the sugar pot on the biscuit plate because the tea begins to overspill from the cup. (00:27:20)
Continuity mistake: When the killer rips his mask off to expose his face to Maggie, his eyes go from brown to yellow between shots. It is explained later that his yellow eyes becomes brown thanks to colored contact lenses, but the killer does not remove any contacts when rips off his mask.
Continuity mistake: At the end when Jack (Ethan Hawke) is nailing the roof of his cabin he stops and looks around with the nails in his mouth. His head turns and the camera goes back and forth and suddenly the nails are in his hand. He then runs down the latter with no sign of the nails anywhere.
Continuity mistake: When Sonora does her very first dive, we see Clifford release Lightning and he begins to trot up the ramp. In the next shot, the camera shows the front view of the horse, and he is cantering up the ramp. Then the camera goes back to Lightning's front view, and he is trotting again.
Continuity mistake: As the cops are taking the Hit and Run Son away, notice he his carrying a red plaid tote bag. Later in the movie, it miraculously appears in the possession of Still Working on the Same Painting. It can be plainly seen as she and her friend, Having a Day, are walking into the city sunset.
Continuity mistake: When Richie shoots Bobby on the sidewalk, after he spits on him, he walks to the road to get into the red sports car. Bobby's wife then runs over and gets on her knees to attend to Bobby, there is no red sports car on the road in the background, but in the next shot it shows Richie getting into the car and taking off from the position the car was originally waiting.
Revealing mistake: During the night surfing scene notice that the sun is evident in the background (look closely it does not appear long). There are also shots where you can see clouds and faint blue sky. Moments later you see Keanu and Lori sitting in the water with completely different lighting which was actually taken at night and further distinguishes that the surfing shots were not actually done at night time. I heard the scene was shot during the day with a filter so it looked like it was shot at night.
Continuity mistake: When Ruth climbs onto the train her shoes have rather high heels. When she jumps off her shoes are flat, but when she gets up the heels are back.
Continuity mistake: When the old woman is cooking she is stirring the casserole. When it cuts she is spicing the food. (00:20:45)
Continuity mistake: During the big fight scene near the end, the baddie manages to drop the hero down an elevator shaft in a warehouse. The scene ends with a shot looking up the shaft at the bad guy laughing demonically, looking pretty mucky and with hair all over the place. Cut to the next scene where the bad guy appears in a room where the shield beam is generated. Now he is completely clean, has a different hairstyle, and if I remember right has a completely different costume on. (This is because the final fight is actually a combination of two separate scenes - the scene in the elevator shaft was originally meant to come halfway into the film, but the scenes around it were cut, so it was added into the final battle. It has been restored to its original place in the "Renegade" cut of the film, but this mistake is still present in the theatrical version).
Continuity mistake: When Bob is in the coffee shop waiting on the call from Dr. Marvin he chases an older man away from the phone. The rope for the fish jar hanging around his neck is twisted around once or twice. The camera cuts away from him then back to him and then the rope is twisted around seven or eight times. (00:27:15)
Revealing mistake: When Dani goes to meet Cort after dark to go swimming, you can plainly see it's daylight out because the sun is shining.
Continuity mistake: When Larry is burning his books he throws one at Dorothy who is looking out of the window. The upper right part of a window pane breaks, but in the next shot the left side is broken. (00:11:20)
Factual error: In the scene where Earl is fighting the other prisoner, he is using a "sword" made from a bar of metal, it has a blade that is well over 2 feet long from the tip to the hilt. At the end of the fight the other prisoner is standing with his back against a solid concrete pillar, but Blake somehow manages to shove the "sword" through him all the way up to the hilt. This wouldn't be possible unless Blake were somehow able to shove the bar into the concrete.
Continuity mistake: After Garfield has finished his speech at the stock holder's meeting, he returns to his chair and crosses his legs. They cut away and then quickly cut back to him in a long shot and he crosses his legs again in the exact same manner.
Continuity mistake: When Frank Jr. is laying in the hospital bed and the doctor comes over; the doctor has his hand up near his face when the camera is behind him, but when it's in front of him, his hand is down and off screen.
Revealing mistake: When Rollie is hanging from the ladder and the bolt breaks, you can see the smoke from the exploding bolt. (00:42:50)
Continuity mistake: Towards the end of the movie two of the mob goons are dangling Patrick Dempsey over the rooftop. After a brief scuffle Dempsey is hanging on by one of the men's pants, which are ripped down to his ankles. When it shows the pantless goon fall off it cuts to inside where the mob boss sees him through the window, but his pants are now pulled up.
Continuity mistake: When Fred is talking to Jane about macrobiotics, he had a band-aid on this head. How did that happen? He got a band-aid why he got whacked with the globe, which comes later in the movie.
Revealing mistake: When Willard goes prawn fishing with Ben he helps him sorting out the prawns from the catch. However, even though he does this right after the net has been emptied out onto the deck all fish and prawns are already dead.
