Continuity mistake: When the Empress Dowager dies, she can't stand opening her eyes and closes them as the servant covers her face. You can see that through the white cloth.
Continuity mistake: After Mac has stabbed the scorpion that was on Dillon's back, he puts on a box and crushes it with his boot. You see a clear picture before he crushes it and then after he lifts his boot away. It is facing a completely different direction than before he stands on it. (00:32:25)
Continuity mistake: In the opening scene, Gunnery Sgt. Hartman is making his speech and passes by Privates Cowboy and Joker on his way to the other side of the barracks. On his way he passes Private Pyle standing to the right of Private Joker. Continuity mistake: When Gekko is talking to the board of Blue Star Airlines in Bud's apartment, Michael Douglas is wearing a suit, but white sneakers can be seen on his feet. In the next shot, he is wearing dress shoes.
Continuity mistake: In the beginning when the photo of the Master is broken, the pieces of glass change position and then disappear altogether.
Continuity mistake: Near the middle of the film we see that Michael has a transparent reflection in a mirror because he is a half vampire. Continuity mistake: When the William Hurt character is talking to Holly Hunter after her boring lecture, the first shot (from behind Hurt) shows him walking backwards while talking to Hunter. As he continues to walk, he comes perilously close to banging his head on an archway. Yet, on the reverse angle, Hurt has been repositioned about five feet from where he was.
Continuity mistake: In the car chase scene, the escaped convict and police are exchanging gun fire between cars. In the different shots of the police car, the bullet holes in the windshield appear and disappear several times. Also, when three shots have been fired at the police car there are four bullet holes in the windshield.
Continuity mistake: When Daryl first meets Sukie, he has 4 scratch marks on his face, but when they play tennis, he only has 1, and then in the swimming pool, it's back to 4.
Continuity mistake: During the scene when Ernest is driving the bus "blind," the type of bus changes from a Ford to an International.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Eric Stoltz's character, Keith, fresh out of the shower, is confronted by his father about the college money, he has two distinct hairstyles. These two hairstyles show up again at Hardy's house party.
Continuity mistake: When Cronauer first goes with Tuan to see the Vietnamese village, he is wearing a white shirt. In a subsequent shot, the shirt is plaid.
