Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi picture

Corrected entry: Look at Leia's sex slave costume carefully in the shot of her hip/hand next to Jabba's twitching tail. Notice how there are no panty lines, right? Then look at the scene of her running to the gun on the Sail Barge - her skirt blows back, revealing a pair of dark panties underneath. (00:21:50 - 00:34:35)

Correction: Quite apart from the fact that it is really, really sad to make such an observation, not all panties leave lines. I really do not think that Carrie Fisher would have agreed to be on a film set without underwear (she doesn't do nude scenes), and the fact that you can't see her frilly knickers in every single shot does not mean they aren't there.

National Lampoon's Vacation picture

Corrected entry: In the scene in Kansas, where the Griswolds are first meeting Cousin Eddie's family, he introduces them to Daisy Mabel, who was born without a tongue. Only thing is, right before he introduces her, you can see her looking at Clark and sticking her tongue out at him and rolling it around her mouth.

Correction: When Eddie says she was "born without a tongue," he means she can't speak, not that she literally doesn't have a tongue. (It's like using the word "dumb" as an un-PC way to say "can't speak." It's not meant to imply that the person is unintelligent.)

Smokey and the Bandit III picture

Corrected entry: If you look on the front of the Trans-Am there is an eagle, which was on the hood of the real bandit's hood in the first two Smokey and The Bandit movies.

Correction: The eagle was on the front of the hood because it was part of the optional gold trim package that was a feature on the car. The eagle was in no way meant as a tribute to the first 2 movies. This is in no way a vaible trivia entry.

The Outsiders picture

Corrected entry: When Ponyboy and Johnny go to the bar to see Dally, there is a song playing on the juke box called 'Jack Daniels if you please' by David Allan Coe. This song was written and released in 1978 although the movie takes place in the '60s.

Correction: The song that's playing when Johnny and Pony-boy arrive is called Loveless Motel.

Blue Thunder picture

Corrected entry: When Roy Scheider's partner is run over and killed, we later see him being zipped up in the body bag. If you look closely, you can see him slowly lower his own head to the ground after being zipped. Hardly the actions of a dead man. (01:11:20)

Gavin Jackson

Correction: The man in a dark suit uses his right hand to lift Lymangood's head, then slips the back of his left hand under and slowly lowers it into the bag, and then pulls his hand out. No error.

A Christmas Story picture

Corrected entry: Near the beginning of the movie, there is no cabinet under the sink. Later, Randy is hiding in a cabinet under the sink, afraid that Daddy is going to kill Ralphie because of the fight he had.

Correction: I just watched this movie last night and looked specifically for this mistake. The shadows in the earlier scenes make the area beneath the sink appear to have no cabinet, but, looking closely, the cabinet is there throughout the movie.

Octopussy picture

Corrected entry: What did the jewellery smuggling and the fake jewels have to do with the A-bomb? It wasn't payment to Kamal for services rendered, since the jewelry was transferred to General Orlov's car while Gobinda was watching. Kamal and Orlov could easily have placed a bomb in the circus without the jewelry-story.

Jacob La Cour

Correction: Kamal and Orlov are using Octopussy's circus to smuggle the bomb into the air base. The circus is one of her many legitimate business ventures used to circumvent customs and border security as she smuggles jewels. She thinks she has been working with Kamal and Orlov to sell Russian jewels on the black market. Orlov steals the jewels and replaces them with fakes created by Kamal, and gives the real ones to Octopussy to smuggle out of Soviet territory. 009 discovered this and stole the Faberge egg, probably thinking Orlov was using the funds to secretly finance a covert Soviet operation. The jewels exchanged for the bomb were a necessary ruse because Octopussy wasn't really a bad guy who would go along with a plot to kill thousands in a nuclear explosion. So Orlov and Kamal had to make her think she was smuggling jewels so she wouldn't think anything was wrong. As Orlov explains when he takes delivery of the fake jewels, Kamal was to gain the real ones as payment after the bomb exploded. Orlov had to take the jewels with him after switching them out for the bomb because Kamal had to continue on with the train, and letting Orlov hold onto them was easier than Kamal having to smuggle them across the border into Western Europe and then hold onto them as he escaped, and then smuggle them back to India (presumably it's easier for Orlov to smuggle them back to India through Soviet controlled Afghanistan). But seeing Bond on the train, Orlov felt the need to warn his accomplices, which is why he made a break for the border.

Flashdance picture

Corrected entry: Listen very closely to the scene in which Alex and the other dancers are bantering in the dressing room. You'll notice that one of them addresses her as "Angela".

Correction: They could have forgotten her name or maybe it could be a nickname, but since Alex is played by Jennifer Beals, it's no clash with the actress' name, so it's really only a error made by the character, and not really a proper movie mistake.

Cujo picture

Corrected entry: When Cujo attacks a cop in the hallway of the house, you can see the dog's tail wagging madly. Actually, the tip of the tail, since the rest of the tail has so obviously been strapped to one of its legs.

Correction: Nothing indicates that it has been strapped down, and no strap can be seen holding it down. The dog just kept its tail down low.

Valley Girl picture

Corrected entry: When Randy's talking to Julie from the pay phone in the bar his right sleeve is rolled up to his elbow. It changes to a long sleeve when he's knocking on the wall. (00:50:15)

Correction: His left sleeve is 'rolled up' to his elbow, but his unbuttoned right sleeve is actually only just pushed up and loose, towards his elbow. So the right sleeve simply slipped down his arm - it doesn't even reach his wrist, and you can note that the 'long sleeve' is still unbuttoned.

The Dead Zone picture

Corrected entry: General problem with the camera technique. They did not "sync" the movie camera with the television and computer screens in the movie. When the camera is out of sync with screens that are being filmed, it causes a distortion band across the picture tube. Two of the scenes where this is extremely evident (and a bit annoying) are when Roger and Johnny are watching the Stillson commercial and when Chris is on the computer (very visible green flickering band across the computer screen). Modern digital video cameras use a program called synchroscan to synchronize the camera to the TV screen being filmed.

Trading Places picture

Corrected entry: When Valentine, and Winthorpe, are sitting in the living room you hear them talking but you can barely hear the TV. But as soon as Clarence Beaks' name is mentioned on the TV, all of a sudden the volume goes up without anyone touching a button. (01:25:20)

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: The TV's volume doesn't actually change within the context of the scene, it only does so to draw the audience's attention. When Valentine and Winthorpe are speaking the film's audio is focused on their dialogue so the audience can hear them without the sound of the TV interfering. Then when Beaks appears on the TV, the audio is now focused on the televised news report.

Jaws 3-D picture

Corrected entry: When the shark has chased Mike and Catherine they get back into the space where they go in and out to the water. The room is completely filled with water. We see Mike's hands turning the vent-things (I don't know the proper words for them) to let the water out, only problem is his hands are not IN water. They are in air, not a drop of water in sight. Then we see the room emptying of water and Mike and Catherine are both still in water. Mike's hands should have been underwater in every shot of the scene up until then. It's obvious that the hands were Mike's as you could see his wet suit.

Correction: This is not true, at the 1:29:00 mark of the film, Mike's hand is turning a release valve to drain the water from the tank, his hand is in water, you can see by the way the light is shining on the hand and from bubbles being made by the twisting motion in the water.

WarGames picture

Corrected entry: At the beginning, the missile silo launch officers are changing shifts. Both of the officers going off duty exit the control room before either of the two relieving officers enter, thus leaving the watch stations completely unmanned for ten seconds or more, not very likely for a strategic nuclear military facility. (00:02:20)

Correction: Though it's probably not officially a permissible procedure, it doesn´t mean there can't be a little "off-the-record" behavior. These experienced men know fully well that they are the only ones down there as always.

Superman III picture

Corrected entry: When Superman is freezing the lake to extinguish the fire, he picks up the giant block of ice. As we see in a wide shot, it looks like no water was removed from the lake. Shouldn't the lake be empty now?, or at least a lot of water would be gone.

Dragon

Correction: Superman doesnt try to freeze the whole lake. just the surface. You can even tell this by when he picks it up. It's a thin layer coming from the top. So he didn't take all that much. Just enough to take out the fires.

Christine picture

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the final scene when our hero says "They really cleaned this place out," they must not have noticed the little white car that Christine runs into on her first suicide run. (01:33:50)

Correction: Compared to what Darnell's place looked like prior to this scene, it was cleaned out. The white car left in there may not have been moveable due to no keys, or could have been left while waiting for the owner to pick it up.

Silkwood picture

Corrected entry: Honda Civics came out in 1972 and the movie takes place in 1974 but Karen's Honda Civic looks 10-12 years old as it is because the movie was made in 1983.

Correction: A poorly maintained vehicle can look old within a couple years. The filmakers tried to provide a faithful depiction of the actual events surrounding the Kerr-McGee "scandal", it is reasonable to believe that they got the best copy possible of Karen Silkwood's vehicle.

Never Say Never Again picture

Corrected entry: When Bond and Largo are playing Domination - in the round about the US - Bond is in pain even before he has lost. But the shock only came when a player lost.

Jacob La Cour

Correction: No, the pain comes gradually as the game goes on. The reason Bond lost the first game was because he wasn't expecting the shock and instinctively let go when he felt it (which cost him the game); the second time he loses, it was because he got nuked, and Largo clearly explained that's an automatic loss for the player. If you recall in the fourth and final game, Largo is also in pain before he loses, so it's obvious that the player doesn't feel pain only when they lose.
