Factual error: When Austin Powers is in the casino and plays blackjack with #2, the sequence of the blackjack hand is dealt wrong. (00:28:55)
Factual error: The first thing on screen after the opening credits is the year the film is set in, 1953. How then, do Kim Novak and Tony Curtis make their arrival in a Cadillac convertible, which is quite obviously of 1959 vintage? (00:19:44)
Factual error: The group is plunged into the icy water for at least several minutes wearing nothing but light jackets yet no one seems to be suffering from hypothermia in the slightest when they show up on shore. (00:21:30)
Factual error: The Dayton wire wheels stolen are not Dayton, they are McLean wire wheels.
Factual error: Hooch is a french mastiff. The dog he gets pregnant is a collie. Different breed dogs do not make purebred puppies. Hooch's pups would be part collie, part mastiff. In the end of the movie, one pup is pure mastiff like hooch and 4 are pure collies like their mother.
Factual error: The flag on the outer left of the square keeps changing between the correct flag for Germany (horizontal black, red, yellow) as seen from the aerial shot when the bomb explodes, and a wrong version (horizontal red, yellow, black) which can be seen when Howard Lewis first accesses the square. (00:34:25)
Factual error: It is not possible to have a conjoined twin of the opposite sex. They are similar to identical twins, which are always of the same sex, in that they are formed from a single zygote. In the case of conjoined twins, the zygote fails to divide normally.
Suggested correction: There are always exceptions to the rules and, although VERY rare, it IS possible for conjoined twins to be - rather, end up being - different sexes. There are about 10 documented cases. In one case, is my understanding the conjoined twins started out as males but a genetic mutation (or something) occurred and one male lost his Y chromosome, thereby developing into a female with no ovaries. (The now-female twin would have so-called Turner Syndrome.) I don't have any sources to quote off-hand.
The male would have lost his Y chromosome after the zygote "split", but he was a monozygotic male.
Factual error: In the scene where there is a train passing, the cars are marked "Burlington Northern." There was NO Burlington Northern until 1970, 7 years AFTER the shooting.
Factual error: When Wood's character and the gang go to the match which is supposed to be between West Ham United and Birmingham City the teams we actually see in the football action shots are West Ham United and Gillingham.
Factual error: Jill tells Ben that she has a suite at the Hard Rock and asks if he would like to see it. In the next scene it shows her looking out the window (presumably at the Hard Rock) and seeing the fountains of the Bellagio. This is not possible as these two resorts are almost two miles apart on different roads.
Factual error: There's a scene when Barbara Stanwyck hides behind an open door to avoid beeing seen by Edward G.Robinson leaving Fred MacMurray`s apartment. To make this possible the apartment door opens outside into the corridor, which is an elegant solution for this situation in the movie. But in the real world no apartment door would open by swinging into the corridor because this would give a visitor standing there a punch on the nose when the resident opens the door.
Factual error: In the scene where the FBI agents have taken Giovanni Ribisi in for interrogation, one of the FBI agents says at one point "...and I want the whole C:/ Drive backed up on a floppy.", which is pretty hard to do, if not impossible, unless you've got about a 5Mb hard disk drive (depending on compression levels). But later on in the scene where Ribisi is actually doing it, he does it in about 10 seconds...with a 1.44MB floppy.
Factual error: The Swedish subtitlers made Amanda's situation even more tragic, incorrectly translating her dead cellmate as her dead soulmate. (00:24:40)
Factual error: While using the phone in his cell, Dr. Lecktor asks an operator to dial a Maryland area code, but is then connected to the University of Chicago. (00:30:10)
Factual error: The customs warehouse guards are carrying guns. Canadian custom guards do not carry guns at any time.
Factual error: When Syd throws the pistol to detonate the landmine, nobody in the nearby vicinity seems to be injured except one 'bad guy' despite the fact that many modern anti-personnel mines project shrapnel to a radius of 30 meters. (02:17:35)
Factual error: The Bandit is in a showdown with Buford T. Justice in a desert mountain range shortly after crossing into Texas. There are no desert mountain ranges in eastern Texas.
Factual error: In one scene, focused on a period wood-staked pickup truck parked on the street, you can see clearly a modern Jeep Grand Cherokee parked on the other side of the street.
Factual error: Porter cuts the fuel line on the car but in reality, fuel lines are mostly steel except for a few joints which are only a few inches long. There would be no rubber tube long enough to be cut as shown in the film. (01:01:30)
Factual error: When we see the closeup of the gun when Bill shoots "The Bride" it is obvious that it is a normal gun with rifling in the barrel, we even see the end of the grooves when the bullet comes straight out of the gun at the camera, but the bullet does not spin.
