Bolt picture

Question: How is it possible for Bolt to go for five years without feeling hungry or even understand the whole concept of hunger?

Answer: He is spoiled to the point where he is fed so frequently and regularly and thoroughly. He's never felt hunger such as he feels while on his quest to find Penny.

Incredibles 2 picture

Question: Evelyn in this movie immediately struck me as looking exactly like Roxanne from Megamind. Seriously, look at each character. Is there some sort of hidden connection between them? Or is this purely coincidence that Evelyn and Roxanne look like twin sisters? Or... possibly Roxanne being a descendant of Megamind considering Incredibles 2 is set in the past.

Quantom X

Answer: I think the fact that Evelyn from Incredibles 2 and Roxanne from Megamind bear some similarities is purely coincidental. The idea that there may be a hidden connection between the two is unlikely and the idea of them being related is even more unlikely. It should be noted that Incredibles 2 is a Pixar production, and Megamind is a Dreamworks production, so the two aren't even made by the same company. Perhaps, her design was inspired by some features of Roxanne, but the idea of the two being connected or related is pretty doubtful.

Casual Person

Answer: It seems to just be a coincidence, or more likely the limitations of the 3D animation style used. Of course, in real life there are unrelated people who look-alike. However, it's unlikely the characters are suppose to be related since "Megamind" was created by DreamWorks, which is a subsidiary of Universal, which is a division of NBCUniversal (formed by the merger of GE's NBC and Vivendi Universal). Since 2011, NBCUniversal has been controlled by Comcast until they owned it outright in 2013. "The Incredibles" films were created by Pixar, which is a subsidiary of Walt Disney Studios, which is owned by The Walt Disney Company. Plus, I don't think there's been any significant individual who worked with both animation studios who would have influence on the character development and hundreds of people are involved in the animation processes.

Bambi picture

Question: Why wouldn't Bambi's mother tell him that the Great Prince of the Forest is also his father?

Answer: Probably so he would not think he is superior to the other fawns and try to lord over them. She would have told him about his father when he was older. This is also a literary plot device by setting up a dramatic reveal at a crucial time (right after Bambi's mother is killed) that Bambi learns his father is the Great Prince. This has a greater emotional punch.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel picture

Question: How did Brittany even know Toby's phone number, and why would Ian sit his phone right next to them?

Answer: Alvin could have easily known Toby's number and told it to her. Ian just simply put down his phone not even thinking that the chipettes could get at it from inside of the carrier.

Pete's Dragon picture

Question: How is Elliott spelt, as I've seen it both Elliot and Elliott on various different Disney memorabilia?

Answer: In the original film, the credits show his name as "Elliott" (with 2 t's). In the remake, his name is "Elliot" (with 1 t). So older memorabilia will have "Elliott". In the original film, Elliott was the dragon's given name, in a manner of speaking. In the remake, Pete names the dragon after the puppy from his favorite book which was called "Elliot Gets Lost". This is the only reason I can find for the spelling change.

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift picture

Question: After the saber-tooth squirrel named Scrat was eaten by a shark, how did he get out of it?

Answer: Because he is a survivor and this is a cartoon. There were plenty of other times through the series scrat was put in a deadly situation only to return later. In the first movie alone he was trampled by a dinosaur, electrocuted with a lightning bolt, and frozen in ice until he thawed near the volcano thousands of years later.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie picture

Question: Why is the Princess called Peach instead of Toadstool and why is the main villain called Bowser instead of King Koopa?

Answer: "Princess Toadstool" was used in the original English-language manual, but she was Peach in the original Japanese, and that name continued in later versions, being combined with Toadstool. Bowser was originally called "Kuppa", but presumably the English-language version resonated more with people, plus removed any confusion of "Kuppa, King of the Koopas", so the English version stuck.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman picture

Question: How exactly did Peabody and Sherman fix time by going into the future?

Answer: By travelling to the future, as it approached the speed of light, the WABAC machine generated a gravitational field equal and opposite to the rip in the space-time continuum and cancelled the rip out - a combination of the suggestions of Sherman, Da Vinci, Einstein and Newton.

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie picture

Question: Why did they let Professor Poopypants get away?

Answer: They never would have found him after CU slapped him far away. Plus Harold destroyed the shrink/grow machine so PP ended up permanently small, meaning someone could easily squish him if he tried anything evil again.

A Christmas Carol picture

Question: Can someone please explains this? When Marley visits Scrooge, it's Christmas Eve. Marley tells Scrooge that he will be haunted by three ghosts. The first ghost would appear tomorrow when the bell tolls one. Meaning that the first ghost would appear on Christmas day. The second would appear the next night at the same hour. December 26th. And the final spirit would appear the following night at twelve o'clock. December 27th. When Scrooge is talking to the boy outside his window after the visitations, the boy tells him it's Christmas Day.

Answer: It's basically the magic of Christmas. While, to Scrooge, three full days have passed, in reality his whole experience took place in a single night, allowing the reformed Scrooge to enjoy Christmas Day.

Chosen answer: Not in the vampire sense as he is half-human, but he prefers to stay out of the sun. He is also a redhead so would sunburn easily as a human would.

Question: 1. Is it or is it not Robin Williams who does the voices of Ramon and Lovelace? I am seeing conflicting information on imbd.com that says that it was, in fact, Robin Williams. Then on the cast and crew page, it says that Dan Castellaneta did the voice of Ramon. What gives? 2. I heard something to the effect that the scene with the sea gull/albatross, who was voiced by Steve Irwin, was deleted because he had died before the movie was released. I also read/heard that he did the voice of one of the elephant seals, too. Which elephant seal was he? 3. And finally, in the "Boogie Wonderland" scene, the Hispanic penguins sing/rap something in Spanish. What are they saying?

freedomchild67

Chosen answer: 1. Check the end credits in the movie, both Lovelace and Ramon are voiced by Robin Williams. Dan Castellaneta did the voice in the Happy Feet video game. 2. It is true that there was a scene with Steve Irwin as a seagull that was taken out, it's on the DVD. He is the elephant seal that says something along the lines of "One day you're swimming, next day, fun food."

By the end of the film, the same human Arlo and Spot saw in the distance earlier shows up along with his family. Spot joins the family. Why does Arlo decide to let Spot go this time?

John Ohman
