Continuity mistake: Calculus walks into the apartment to talk with Tintin and Haddock. When he starts talking, his back is straight and sitting upwards. The shot cuts and he is suddenly sitting slightly forwards with his head also pointing forwards. Then in the following shot after that, he is suddenly sitting with his back straight and is sitting upwards again. (00:05:05)

Other mistake: Professor Calculus brings the parts for two shark submarines (he stated in the scene prior he would bring two) to the docks in two separate crates. The crates he uses to hold the submarine parts in would not big enough to hold the entirety of the submarine. The crates shown are only a couple of feet wide and even smaller in height, but the shark submarines shown in the episode are much larger than the overall size of the crate. (00:06:50)

Continuity mistake: When Calculus arrives at the docks to demonstrate the shark submarines, there are images of the submarines shown on each crate. There is no crease shown on the image on the top crate and there is a crease on the image on the bottom crate. A couple of seconds later, Haddock draws an X on the image shown on the top crate and the image shown on the top crate now suddenly has a crease on it. (00:06:50)

Continuity mistake: When Tintin and Haddock discover Calculus had been sleeping in one of the lifeboats, he wakes up and tells him he slept rather badly last night. Tintin and Haddock are standing beside each other, with Tintin partially behind Haddock. In the following shot where Haddock replies, Tintin has vanished from beside Haddock. (00:09:45)

Continuity mistake: Whilst Tintin, Haddock and the detectives are on their way back from Francis Haddock's island in the boat, there is a Sirius logo on the front of it. When the "shark" arrives later in the scene, there is a shot where Haddock says "Ten thousand thundering typhoons" and the Sirius logo has vanished. (00:12:15 - 00:12:50)

Continuity mistake: When George greets Bill after he arrives at the cafe, George has a moustache. After Bill sits down, George's moustache has vanished. (00:03:55)

Continuity mistake: When George tells Bill about Haddock going after Red Rackham's treasure, a man behind them is watching the conversation. There is no table in front of him. A couple of shots later, a table is suddenly there and a drink has also appeared. (00:04:10)

Continuity mistake: When Tintin, Haddock and Calculus enter Calculus' inventions room, keep an eye on the door. The door is dark coloured, but within the same shot, as they walk through the room, the door suddenly becomes much lighter. (00:05:35)

Continuity mistake: As Calculus is escorting Tintin and Haddock through his inventions room, Haddock stops to pull a small lever on a clothes brushing machine. He pulls the lever forwards, but in the next shot, the lever is back to its original position. (00:05:40)

Continuity mistake: When the Sirius is first shown, there is an anchor near the front of the ship. Later on in the episode, whilst Tintin, Haddock and the detectives go to Francis Haddock's island, the anchor has vanished. (00:06:30 - 00:10:35)

Deliberate mistake: Haddock draws an X on the shark image of Calculus' box with a pencil. This was done as a visual gag, though the X mark is far too thick for the pencil that Haddock was using. (00:07:00)

Continuity mistake: When Haddock realises Calculus placed the shark submarines on the ship, he goes outside to find him and slips on a small puddle of booze. About two shots after this, the size of the puddle is suddenly much larger. (00:09:20)

Audio problem: When Haddock tells Tintin that somebody on the ship is stealing food, Tintin says "Snowy?" When he says the line, his mouth opens, but his lips don't make any further movement as he is saying the line. (00:08:25)
