Continuity mistake: In a flashback to Kaiba's childhood, he has rows of cards laid on the floor. The cards are positioned so that the bottom side of the cards is facing toward the window. When the shot cuts, the cards are facing Kaiba and a wall behind him, and away from the window. (00:12:28)

Continuity mistake: When Leichter activates the Life Absorbing Machine, there is a shot of Leichter drawing a card from his deck. In the shot, the life point display on his duel disk cannot be seen on the rectangular screen. Then there is a close-up of the rectangular screen, where his life points go up and the display is suddenly visible again. (00:17:45)

Character mistake: Yugi mistakenly says if he doesn't get a monster out to defend himself Mai can attack him directly, which wouldn't be possible since the rules of Duel Monsters during the Duelist Kingdom arc forbade direct attacks on defenseless opponents. That rule wouldn't be implemented until the Battle City arc.
