Other mistake: Twice in the episode it is explicitly said that Magnum's phone has been disconnected, and that Higgins checked with the phone company. Yet at the end, it turns out 'the lads' chewed on the cable. Surely the phone company wouldn't tell the estate manager that the line has been disconnected for billing problems (so, a well determined administrative issue with proper paperwork done) when it's a wiring problem.
Continuity mistake: The plane at the beginning of the episode stops with the propeller at 7:05. When Louise DeBolt walks past the propeller to get in the cockpit, the propeller is at 11:25, and goes back to 7:05 next time it's shown. (00:02:10 - 00:03:10)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the episode, two dealers are shot dead (or so it seems). However, they die at great distance from each other, but the one closer to the plane is conveniently snuggled close to the other guy when it's time for the plane to take off. (00:02:40)
Continuity mistake: It's windy when Magnum gets down to do some push-ups. In the close-up of the push-ups though, the spot he is exercising at changed, since the wind is reflected much more in the movement of the shadows of the ground. (00:04:45)
Revealing mistake: In Magnum's close-up as he looks at The Black Orchid, the scar prosthesis has a visible contour. (00:05:30)
Plot hole: After the farcical scene with Rick and TC playing Asian goons, Magnum says in his trademark voiceover; "I know what you're thinking. After the phony beach attack, I should have said goodbye", etc. But the staged attack was in a back alley, in the streets. There are a couple of deleted scenes that pop by in the teaser and never made it to the actual episode, plus an actual beach attack happening later, so it's hard to say what Magnum was referring to, but in the episode as shown, makes no sense. Continuity mistake: Magnum drives to meet Louise for, he believes, the last time. He's wearing a purple polo shirt, as opposed to the normal views where he dons a dark green one. (00:18:30)
Revealing mistake: The moment Magnum hops on the Ferrari ending the brawl on the beach with the two goons in ski masks, parallel to the tire tracks in the sand you can see others from a previous take. (00:23:25)
Continuity mistake: Louise praises the "masterful" way Magnum took the yoyos' punches; her hand jumps from one side of Magnum's chest to the other. (00:26:05)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the scene in the freshly painted guest house, Louise undoes a button on Magnum's shirt that has been undone all along. (00:27:20)
Continuity mistake: Louise pours coffee from the thermos - still hot overnight. The cup in her right hand has the handle pointed to the left (approx at 11 o'clock). Her sister and Higgins pop up from the door, and now the cup is pointed at 5 o'clock. (00:28:10)
Continuity mistake: Higgins is telling Magnum about the poison. Magnum asks, camera on him " Are you sayin' she wasn't kidding." A babe in a light blue bikini walks in the background, right to left. Cut to Higgins responding, which lasts 8 seconds, and the same woman is exactly where we left her walking behind Tom Selleck. (00:36:10)
Factual error: Just before the fade-out of the first shot of Robin's limo in France, there are 3 street signs saying "Meyrargues 5 kms", "Marseilles 22 kms", "Aix-en-Provence 6 kms." It's an impossible triangulation; they are almost on a line, Marseilles is about 40 kms south of Aix, which is about 18 kms south of Meyrargues. (00:01:40)
Revealing mistake: Rene cleverly avoids the trap; he turns the wheel to the left, but the car swerves to the right. (00:02:10)
Continuity mistake: The titular brunette easily overtakes Magnum during his jog. The sweat patch on his shirt becomes much larger through the span of a brief cutaway, and when he joins Rick after the jog, his shirt is completely dry. (00:03:10)
Continuity mistake: In the first minutes, Rick is talking up the properties of some special fruit juice. He passes the glass to Magnum, who takes a sip from a slightly fuller glass than he was given, and passes back to him a glass with a level of juice that drops dramatically between shots, and keeps doing so throughout the entire scene. Continuity mistake: At the club, Rick teases Magnum about not being able to break the ice with Joy Doyle. He has his hand on the fruit juice glass, off it, and on it again. (00:05:05)
Continuity mistake: The valet brings the Ferrari in front of the club. Digger leans on it with her right hand, dollars in her left hand, but in the next shot the money is on the same hand she is leaning on. (00:07:00)
Visible crew/equipment: When Digger drives the Ferrari up to the gate of Robin's Nest, crew and location filming equipment are visible on the surface of the car. (00:09:45)
