Continuity mistake: Magnum duped TC into following him to North Shore. He pulls over by a sexy Hawaiian holding a shopping bag. Far off in the distance, away from the building, there are two guys, one with a yellow tee, the other in olive grin. Next shot and the two guys are there on the porch already, not even giving Magnum time to hop off his car. (00:19:00)

Other mistake: When Magnum and TC get to Makua's house, there are several meters in the open between the shack and the sugarcane field. Makua the Kahuna makes it to the door surprising them, but after that, there's just no way two able-bodied guys wouldn't catch up on the short-legged chubby old man before he gets into the thick vegetation and thanks to the fire (none of it showing before) loses them. The scene would have been believable if the Kahuna delayed them in the shack through some trick, or the shack were in the middle of the cane field, but not with Magnum and TC bolting after him right away. Visible crew/equipment: After escaping the fire, Magnum goes to check on TC, followed by the camera (the one from the cameraman character, which is normal) but also by the shadow of a boom mike (which no character is holding). (00:25:00)

Continuity mistake: After the sugarcane fire fiasco, everyone is nervous. Magnum yells "Stop it!" to Higgins when he makes a bitter comeback to Rick. Kinda hilariously, Magnum yells that at a Higgins wearing a yellow-and-blue tie, but the Higgins that glances at him all sly is a red-and-blue-tied Higgins. (00:26:30)

Continuity mistake: In the scene inside the studio of a hypocondriac Rick, Magnum points out that the land is still undeveloped. In the following close-up, Rick casts a shadow on the couch he wasn't before. (00:26:45)

Wen they walked up to the car, though, she was wearing open toed shoes with no stockings, and Magnum was wearing brown boat shoes earlier when he arrived at Mr. Dollinger's home. Continuity mistake: While Magnum is at the morgue he ends up being interviewed and filmed by Christine. There's a closeup of the TV set which is broadcasting Magnum's interview, then it cuts to a wide shot of the TV set as Higgins clicks the TV off in annoyance. The two TV sets in the closeup and wide shot are completely different.

Other mistake: The cheesy red eye 'glow' effect at the end of the episode is in just one eye, unlike what it's said in the book TC read.
