Corrected entry: Lister says that, as long as his "ouroboros" cycle continues, the human race can never become extinct. But this is not true: someday Lister will die. The baby he fathered will not replace him, because he sent it back in time, where it starts its lifespan at the same time as him (and thus dies at the same time as him). The cycle is self-reinforcing, but not self-perpetuating. Thus, when Lister dies, the human race will indeed be extinct.
Corrected entry: Lister says that killing your past self will cause you to die, thus making it impossible to go back in time to kill your past self in the first place. So how was JFK able to kill himself at the end of the episode? If he killed himself, he would have still survived as he wouldn't have been unable to go back in time and kill himself in the first place, the same was as the crew survived their attack.Padzter
Corrected entry: In the opening moments of the episode, The Cat reveals that he educated himself because there was no-one else around on Red Dwarf to teach him. Yet in the first ever episode, the Cat tells Lister that he learnt about Frankenstein and the 'virgin birth' whilst he was at 'kitty-school'.Padzter
Corrected entry: At the end of the episode, Ouroboros, when the adult Lister places the infant Lister in a cardboard box (under the Grav-Pool table at the Aigburth Arms) the caption states "EIGHTEEN MONTHS LATER". At the beginning of the episode, a definite date is stated - 26th November 2155. Presuming a normal full-term pregnancy, this indicates that (a) Lister was conceived in late April 2154, (b) born nine months later in the last week of May 2155, and (c) nine months old when he is found in the cardboard box.
Corrected entry: The flashback sequence of Rimmer and Lister searching everyone's lockers is supposed to have happened not long after the accident which killed the crew. Rimmer is wearing his most up to date blue hard-light hologram costume, when he actually should have been wearing his standard cream shirt uniform.Padzter
Corrected entry: In the episode 'Tikka to Ride', Lister tells us he has recently passed his 28th birthday. He was 25 in 'Future Echoes', meaning that all the episodes up to this point have taken place in around 3 years. However, dialogue in 'Back to Reality' and 'Holoship' (which took place before 'Tikka to Ride') says that the crew have been travelling for around 4 years.
Corrected entry: In the episode 'Ouroboros', we see a Lister from an alternate dimension as a hologram - because he didn't go into stasis, he was killed in the radiation leak. However, in the first ever episode of Red Dwarf ('The End') it was established the radiation leak happened because of the fact Lister was in stasis and therefore Rimmer didn't have help in fixing the drive plate. There is an implication that, if Lister hadn't been put in stasis, the radiation leak would either never have happened, or been brought under control with few (if any casualties).
Corrected entry: In the flashbacks in the episode 'Ouroboros' Lister says the penalty for keeping his cat would be six months in stasis (which is what Kochanski gets in her reality), however in the very first episode of Red Dwarf ('The End') Lister gets 18 months in stasis as punishment for the crime.
