Continuity mistake: When Rockford finds the rock band clipping amongst Aura Lee's collection of matchbooks, it's been cut directly above the heading "Underground Railroad" when we see it in closeup twice. First time at the beach, then later when Rockford and Sara start back at square one. but while they're still back at square one Rockford phones Becker, and now the words "Coming Soon!" precede the "Underground Railroad" heading. Deliberate mistake: After Rockford pulls into the gas station and wipes down the windshield he speeds away to lose the tail. When he passes the park bench it's a flipped shot, then when the tail passes the park bench it's another flipped shot. (00:18:15)

Continuity mistake: The front and back license plate numbers on Rockford's car are different. The front plate number is "835-OKG" but the rear plate number is "853-OKG" and it's particularly noticeable when Rockford eludes his tail at the tunnel. (00:29:30)
Continuity mistake: After the police inform Rockford that Prentiss Carr's cause of death was suicide, when it cuts to the closeup of Carr's widow pouring the drink, the woman in the closeup has long nails and is not wearing a belt. In the following shots Janet Carr is wearing a long red belt and her nails are shorter. (00:08:50)

Visible crew/equipment: When Rockford returns to his trailer and begins to tell Rocky about his ordeal with the semi in Arizona, just as Rockford says, "It tried to run me off a mountain," watch as the microphone pops up at the bottom, right side of the screen behind the glass bowl. (00:22:55)
