The Pacifier (2005)

Question: Shane tells Lulu a story about a family of elves that's a little obscure. Is it just meant to be another demonstration of Shane's obsession with military action, or is the story based on anything?

Answer: He is telling a story of one of his missions and just changes soldier to elf.

Question: Why was the playfair cipher on the missing page invisible? Thomas Gates wrote it in normal ink.

Blibbetyblip

Chosen answer: Thomas Gates didn't write it in normal ink. He wrote in pencil. The cipher wasn't written on that page, it was written on the facing page and minute bits "transferred" onto the page with the names.

Monk (2002)

Mr. Monk Bumps His Head - S4-E11

Question: The man who crashes through the beekeeper's fence and purposefully gets himself stung claims that he was drunk. Later that day, he is back at work. In Australia, where I live, drunk driving is a big enough offence to put you in jail, but the man is never put in jail. Is this a mistake, or are American laws more lenient?

Blibbetyblip

Answer: He wasn't actually drunk in the episode and without solid evidence of drunk driving he would not be placed in jail. Also this was a small town where this individual was "important" so the community police would have to have their "ducks in a row" before taking him in on drunk driving.

Chosen answer: Depends on where you are, your blood alcohol level. Also, having not seen the episode, was he actually drunk?

Charmed (1998)

Show generally

Question: In the first few seasons, the Charmed Ones can retrieve a spell from the Book Of Shadows by just hovering their hands over the book & the book will turn to the correct page. However, in later seasons they have to turn pages manually. Why?

Answer: They weren't searching the book. They were "concentrating" and their ancestors (Grams specifically) were helping them search. Later, they begin to know what to look for.

shortdanzr

Answer: Only Phoebe had that ability in 2x03, due to the Smart Spell she cast, and in some cases Grams or Leo were scrolling the pages to help the girls find what they're searching.

Minority Report (2002)

Question: Why were the cheating wife and her lover not arrested for adultery? Last time I checked, that was a crime in the United States.

Answer: Currently there are some US states where adultery is still a crime, but they don't really prosecute people for that any more. Plus this is set in the future, so the laws could easily have changed.

Dark Angel (2000)

Show generally

Question: This may seem a bit stupid, but I'm new to the show, and didn't start with the pilot: what is that place where Max, Cindy, Sketch, etc. hang out (Where Normal works)? Judging by the presence of lockers, I would assume it's a gym.

Answer: It's their job. They are bike messengers and have lockers to hold personal stuff.

Ocean's Twelve (2004)

Question: How does Linus' mother know to get them out of prison?

Answer: I think Rusty was part of LeMarque's grand plan to get his daughter. He knew the Night Fox would get jealous. LeMarque gets his daughter back and knows Rusty will go along with the plans to get his girlfriend back (LeMarque's daughter). LeMarque manipulated the Night Fox into the challenge. He knew Danny and Rusty would come to him for advice. Rusty already knew his girlfriend's dad was a "master thief." Danny and Rusty thought Lemarque was helping them but he was manipulating everyone. When most of the gang was put in jail, they all know about the switch with Julia Roberts and were making bets she wouldn't make it halfway to the Faberge' egg. When Rusty and Danny are walking around the city, Rusty talks about making the hologram egg. They all planned on getting caught at the museum. The escape plan was all part of the plan. When Matt Damon takes over as leader, it was all part of the elaborate scheme they had to carry out to fool the Night Fox. They had to play it out in order to succeed.

Answer: The whole thing was planned from the beginning. That is how she knows.

Ocean's Twelve (2004)

Question: In the scene near the end of the movie, when Isabel confronts Rusty at the airplane and he tells her that her father is still alive, He also says "There's nothing back there but a forged 1077." How does he know she forged it? Even if we can assume they were bluffing when Linus' mother showed up at the prison indicating an irregularity with the paperwork (as previously contributed by another viewer), that doesn't explain how Rusty knew it was forged.

Answer: Because he knows her and what lengths she would go to. He also could have gotten inside information.

shortdanzr

Answer: Before they left the police station, Molly (Linus' mom) states that there seems to be a problem with the paperwork. Rusty could have informed her ahead of time.

Answer: LeMarque had a contact that informed him of the movements of the real egg so it seems possible that he also had contacts within Interpol that told him she had forged the papers (which he probably anticipated).

Question: In the scene where Ben has just pulled Abigail into the van after he had stolen the Declaration, why does he ask her if she is hungry?

Answer: It's meant to distract her and confuse her so that he can think and talk appropriately.

General questions

I am frustrated because I can't remember the title of a film. I remember very little about the film. I think it was about a train crash in a tunnel. I'm sure there was a scene where someone was either trying to get past or put out a long thick cable which was making sparks or something. Any help?

Hamster

Chosen answer: Try Daylight. It is a car crashing into a truck illegally carrying toxic waste which blocks the tunnel. Then a bunch of prison inmates were trying to get out of the truck and there was a live wire hanging from the roof. Also A short walk to Daylight. 1972. James Brolin plays a New York cop who lead a group of people to safety after Hippie terrorists blow up the subway tunnels. Just like Daylight, they go through many obstacles to survive.

Question: When Deloris asks the class where their music books are, and they point to the ceiling, what is on the ceiling, and why do they point to the ceiling in the first place?

Answer: Because they have torn all the pages out and used them as spit balls and stuck them to the ceiling.

shortdanzr

Answer: The students point to the ceiling because the books are ripped up on the ceiling because the kids did not need to learn anything to the class and that is the reason they ripped them up.

The Parent Trap (1998)

Question: I watched this on British TV. On the site, I saw some mistakes talking about the ear piercing on the site. I did not see Hallie sterilizing the needle bit. Why is this?

Answer: Because that scene was cut out for TV. This is a regular occurrence so that the movies will fit in the time slot given to them.
