Psycho (1960)

Corrected entry: Norman Bates spies on Marion by removing a picture from a wall in his back office but this cannot be so. If you look at the motel from the outside, Marion's cabin is to the right hand side of the office. As you walk into the office the front desk is on the left (as you can tell when the private investigator arrives) and the back office where Bates has his stuffed birds, etc. is behind the front desk. If he looked through a hole in his back office he would have been looking through an outside wall and not into Marion's cabin, which would be on the other side of the office.

pierpp

Correction: The Office and back parlor are slightly narrower than any of the cabins; but it is the same depth. The peephole is not in the back of the parlor, but the side contiguous with Cabin 1. Note that both outer walls of the parlor have a large window; the wall with the peephole does not.

Swordfish (2001)

Corrected entry: When Travolta and Jackman are driving the TVR Tuscan, Travolta tells Jackman to drive. He says he "couldn't possibly drive this thing". He then proceeds to crunch the gears and drive it flawlessly - the chase scene that then follows shows some impressive driving though the streets from a guy who 10 seconds beforehand did not have a clue how to operate the vehicle. I have owned a TVR Tuscan for 3 years and its not the sort of car you can just jump into and drive flawlessly at high speed through tight city streets with no previous experience of driving a right hand drive car, let alone a manual one with the gearstick on the 'wrong side'.

pierpp

Correction: This is a somewhat subjective mistake. While certain cars and vehicles might be more difficult than others to learn and operate, its not beyond the realm of impossibility. Its a bit like saying a character in a film shouldn't be able to operate a crane, or a speedboat when they seemingly have never used one before.

The Queen (2006)

Corrected entry: In a scene where Tony Blair and Charles are talking on the tarmac by a jet plane, you can see that the rotor blades of the jet engines are stationary yet you hear the noise of the jets still operating.

pierpp

Correction: This actually isn't the jet turbine that is heard but the aircraft's auxiliary power unit, APU, located in the aircraft's tail section. The APU provides electrical power to the aircraft when on the ground with the engines off and no external power source connected.

Corrected entry: In the beginning when Kimberly is driving she passes a car with a kid and a father in. Look at the kid, he is playing with two toys, a red SUV and a dirty truck. He is holding them up and banging them together. Kimberly is driving a red SUV and it's a dirty great truck that causes the accident.

pierpp

Correction: This is hardly trivia. It is a crucial point of the plot that pertains to her premonition. The audience is supposed to get this the first time, and most, if not all, do notice this right off.

Jazetopher

Corrected entry: The sunbed scene is totally unrealistic. There are always emergency stop buttons inside the canopy that automatically cut the power. Secondly the 2 girls would never have got so burned that their skin would blister, in such a short period of time regardless of how much power overload there may have been.

pierpp

Correction: The entire tanning business they went to was very shady. The settings of the booth were outside of the booth, so it is not unsafe to say that the emergency button was there too. UV rays are very powerful and to be exposed at such a close range at such a high power would defiantly blister the skin in about three to four minutes. The blisters on the skin and the skin popping and splitting is completely realistic.

Corrected entry: When the two men are attacked on the moors they are obviously fully clothed with big puffa jackets on. You even see a shot of Jack lying on the ground dead, with blood everywhere and all over his jacket. In the next scene where David is lying injured next to Jack, he looks round and Jack is completely naked from the waist up. His clothes have just disappeared.

pierpp

Correction: The man on the floor next to David is not Jack, but the now dead werewolf (who has returned to human form) Jack is still clothed and remains so throughout the rest of the film.

Mad Ade

Corrected entry: The make of camera that Wendy uses to take pictures round the amusement park is a Lumex. When she plugs it up to her PC at home to view the pictures the computer registers a Panasonic camera.

pierpp

Correction: Panasonic manufacture the Lumix range of cameras. This is not a mistake. Lumix is a model of camera, not the brand. Panasonic is the brand.

Dumb and Dumber (1994)

Corrected entry: After Lloyd returns from the bar after waiting for Mary for hours, he and Harry laugh about the fact that its 10pm she meant to meet him and not 10am. Harry then says "Well you have your night sorted, I'm off to watch a flick" implying that Lloyd had a date with Mary that evening. But Lloyd then puts TurboLax in Harry's drink as Harry goes to get ready to pick up Mary. It was Lloyd who had a date with Mary and not Harry.

pierpp

Correction: Did you watch this film? Lloyd suspects (correctly) that Harry is not going 'to watch a flick', but to meet Mary. He sabotages his plans by putting TurboLax in his drink. This is the plot of the film, not a mistake.

Correction: To add, while at the fundraiser, Harry lied to Lloyd about setting him up on a date with Mary so that Harry could spend time with Mary himself.

Carry on Camping (1969)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Sid and Bernie drive over to pick up their 2 girlfriends for the camping holiday, Sid says to Bernie "Not a word to the girls where we are going, it's a surprise." However while the girls are having a breakfast, their mum comments that Sid's after his cake and eating it by taking her on a camping holiday. How did mum know where they were going if the girls didn't even know?

pierpp

Correction: What Sid and Bernie are trying to keep secret from their girlfriends is that they planned to go a nudist camp, not that the holiday involves camping.

Psycho (1960)

Corrected entry: During the filming of the shower scene, the filmmakers used very cold water so that the expression of horror/shock on Janet Leigh's face would be as realistic as possible. Mentioned in the Universal Studio tour.

pierpp

Correction: Untrue, and it's been corrected many times before. Janet Leigh said in an interview that in fact Hitchcock always made sure she was comfortable during the shooting of the shower scene. The cold water is a myth.

rabid anarchist

Corrected entry: When Richard Gere and his wife have the accident in the beginning of the film her head smashes against the side window. She is in hospital and the scene jumps to two weeks later. He drives to the scene where they had the accident and you can see that the car's side window is still smashed. Surely in 2 weeks you would think he would get it repaired rather than being a constant reminder of his wife's accident.

pierpp

Correction: It's not unlikely that with a busy work schedule and a wife in the hospital that he'd not have had time to worry about getting the window fixed.

Psycho (1960)

Corrected entry: Something's not right about the money ratio in this film. The guy gives $40,000 to buy a house, which I assume in 1960 was a great deal of money and could have bought a substantial sized property. Yet when Janet Leigh trades her car in, she has to pay a difference of $700. Thats an awful big difference between two second hand cars bearing in mind the cars are quite similar and you can buy a great big house for $40,000.

pierpp

Correction: The dealer knows it's a great deal of money. He starts high and expects the customer to negotiate price. It just happened that Marion wasn't in a negotiating type of mood, and even the dealer was surprised she took it for so much money.

Psycho (1960)

Corrected entry: Norman Bates invites Marion to have dinner with him as he was going to eat anyway. She accepts and he brings down sandwiches. She then says she's not got any appetite, and he said they are all for her anyway as he's not hungry. Odd really, why would he make dinner for himself if he didn't want to eat and why would she accept dinner if she doesn't want to eat either?

pierpp

Correction: Marion IS hungry, she just tells Norman she hasn't much of an appetite, since "Mrs. Bates" had just screamed that she didn't want Marion feeding her appetite with "my food or my son". As for Norman, he was being polite.

The Village (2004)

Corrected entry: A blind girl walking through the woods on her own? She would have been bouncing off the trees like a ball in a pinball machine. There is no way any blind person can walk through dense woods on their own with so many obstacles at ground, waist and head level, whether carrying a stick or not (as she sometimes didn't). Bearing in mind she had never been in these woods before as it was a no go area makes this a totally ridiculous part of the film.

pierpp

Correction: This is not necessarily true. Although she would be having a hard time it is not impossible for her to do what she is doing even as a blind person. She also is not shown walking without effort. It is also mentioned that she is not completely blind. Either way I have seen many blind people walk through much rougher terrain than a forest with no problems. As for the whole monster encounter, she memorized the terrain where the hole was and was able to go back to it because of this.

iceverything776

Corrected entry: In the beginning of the film where the storm starts to really take off, you see buses, cars etc flying around and buildings being destroyed, yet so many people are using their mobile (cell) phones. Strange how despite all this destruction, mobile phone masts are still intact.

pierpp

Correction: In many large cities there are mobile cell phone masts located on a considerable amount of buildings and like TV and radio antennas are secured down to withstand very high winds.

Cliff Corson

Corrected entry: When the pregnant lady has her baby, she gives birth to a fully grown 4 month old kid. No wonder she was screaming so much.

pierpp

Correction: The baby was not 4 months old, if you watch the movie on DVD with infinifilm, it will tell you during the birth scene that the baby is only a few weeks old.

Corrected entry: If Clear was so concerned about her safety, then surely she would have avoided bleaching her hair from dark in the 1st film to blonde in this sequel, think of all those nasty chemicals. Plus why volunteer to stay in a locked padded cell? Surely the risk of being trapped in a possible fire at the institution or failed air supply causing suffocation would have entered her head?

pierpp

Correction: Clear actually bleached her hair in the first movie. Its blonde at the end during the whole paris sequence because they had actually finished the movie months ago. But the ending was eventually changed so they came back and did the paris scenes.

Correction: Why would Death go through the trouble of possibly killing everyone at the institution when its only concern was killing Clear? Plus, she was supposed to die at the hospital where Kimberly, Eugene and Thomas were, so obviously she would have to leave at some point for this to occur.
