The Sand Pebbles (1966)

Factual error: When Holman and Frenchy go to the Red Cattle to buy Maily, they are wearing undress whites. Since they are on liberty, they should be wearing dress whites, like Holman was wearing at the beginning of the movie.

The Sand Pebbles (1966)

Factual error: When the San Pablo's main gun is firing at the junks, the gun does not recoil at all.

Runaway (1984)

Factual error: The household robot that runs amok fires 8 shots from a 6-round capacity revolver.

Monk (2002)

Mr. Monk and the Astronaut - S4-E14

Factual error: When Monk is running alongside the F/A-22 (now just F-22), he is so close that if Wagner had throttled up the engines a bit, Monk would have been sucked into the engine air intake. Here is a video of just such an accident on the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AF55oyAJDBk.

Sink the Bismarck (1960)

Factual error: The vertical steel I-beams in the command centre are riddled, as it were, with rivets, but the rivets do not attach the I-beams to anything and are obviously just set decoration.

Sink the Bismarck (1960)

Character mistake: At the end, as Kenneth More and Dana Wynter emerge from the command centre, they are surprised to find that it is 9 AM, not 9 PM. Since all military and naval forces use a 24-hour clock, they would have known that the time was 0900, not 2100.

Die Hard 2 (1990)

Factual error: The exchanges between the bad guy pretending to be an air traffic controller and the pilot of the doomed aircraft are not even close to realistic. Air traffic control communication is almost its own language. The FAA handbook says, in part: "Brevity is important, and contacts should be kept as brief as possible. Jargon, chatter, and 'CB' slang have no place in ATC communications."

Die Hard 2 (1990)

Factual error: Transport aircraft do not have ejection seats; only fighters, bombers, and attack aircraft have them.

Downton Abbey (2010)

Episode #1.7 - S1-E7

Factual error: Mrs. Patmore has cataract surgery, which corrects her vision. Cataract surgery was performed in those days, but intraocular lenses did not exist until 1949, so the surgery simply removed the lens of the eye without replacement, leaving the patient with unfocused vision. As a result, the person had to wear thick "coke bottle" glasses to see.

National Velvet (1944)

Other mistake: In the book, the horse is called "The Pie" because it is a piebald, which is a white horse with black spots. The horse used in the movie is not.

On the Town (1949)

Factual error: When the guys are singing about being in the navy, there is a line about "shovelling tons of coal in the boiler room." By 1925, all existing US Navy coal-burning ships had been converted to oil, and all new ships were built to burn oil.

Columbo (1971)

By Dawn's Early Light - S4-E3

Continuity mistake: When Columbo is talking with a cadet, Columbo says that he was in the army. Later, when the Colonel mentions 2200 hours, Columbo asks him what time that is. If Columbo had been in the army, he certainly would have known that 2200 hours is 10:00 PM.

Monk (2002)

Mr. Monk and the Panic Room - S3-E2

Factual error: Disher hands Stottlemeyer a pistol and tells him that he just unloaded it, but Stottlemeyer just takes his word for it instead of double-checking it. You NEVER, under any circumstance, take anyone's word that a gun is unloaded; you always check it yourself. As a police officer, Stottlemeyer would know that.

Factual error: Neal says he stopped believing in Santa Claus when he was three because he didn't get an Oscar Mayer wienie whistle. You didn't have to buy wienie whistles; the Oscar Mayer company gave them away to children for free at grocery stores. (I had one.)

Suggested correction: For a child believing in Santa, it's not the price of the gift. His parents didn't get him a weenie whistle for whatever reason, even though he asked Santa for one.

Bishop73

#1 Suspect - S4-E9

Continuity mistake: When Kenda pulls up to the fast food drive-thru, he orders a #1, which the menu board says is $5.49, but when his order is brought out to him, he is told that he owes $3.59.

Run for Your Life - S3-E4

Factual error: When the tracking dog finds a gun in some bushes, Kenda, who is narrating, says that the gun was a Ruger Mark I, which is a semiautomatic target pistol; but the gun shown in the reenactment is a snub-nose .38 Special revolver.

All of Me (1984)

Factual error: The date on Arch Stanton's grave is "3 February 1862," which is how dates are written in most countries. However, in the US, it would be written "February 3, 1862." (02:39:30)

The Odd Couple (1968)

Character mistake: After Felix arrives at Oscar's apartment, he is looking out the window and comments on the view. He then asks, "What is it, twelve floors?" He had just come up in a self-service elevator, so he would have known what floor he was on.
