Quantum Leap (1989)

Play It Again, Seymour - April 14, 1953 - S1-E9

Revealing mistake: After Sam nearly falls down the elevator shaft, the scene fades and comes back in with Sam speaking to the landlord about the incident. The landlord brushes off Sam's hat with his hand and hands it to him. The brushing motion was played in reverse first to extend the length of the action.

Evening (2007)

Continuity mistake: When Buddy takes Ann down to the dock to meet Harris, he and Buddy get into the boat and begin getting it ready to sail. As Harris raises the mainsail, we see that the head of the sail is connected to a gaff. In the wide shot immediately following this shot, the head is connected to the mast, and the gaff has disappeared entirely. In all other shots of the boat, the gaff is present. Harris can't have drawn the sail so tightly that the gaff was completely vertical, thereby blending it with the mainmast so as to be imperceptible from a distance, because the shape of the sail would have made that impossible.

Wall-E (2008)

Continuity mistake: The sky over Wall-E's city is totally covered, from horizon to horizon, with thick brown clouds. When the Earth is seen from space at the beginning of the film, there is no such cloud cover anywhere on the planet. It looks more like the old Universal Studios logo than the actual Earth. The clouds appear out of nowhere as the camera zooms down. (00:01:30)

Troy (2004)

Revealing mistake: The dawn after the Trojans have retaliated against the Greeks with their fiery assault on the beach, a light filter was used to make a midday shoot appear as though the sun had not fully risen yet. This is evidenced by two things. First, the shadows are not as "deep" as they would be at that time of day. All the details that shouldn't be visible at dawn are perfectly defined, it's just not bright. Second, the fires that still burn should be radiating a bright orange glow. Instead, they are just as dimmed as the rest of the light.

Demon Knight (1995)

Revealing mistake: Brayker shoots The Collector through the eye with an arrow just after he's collected the key from Roach. You can see the section of the arrow shaft that sticks out the back of The Collector's head bend as his head hits the floor after he falls over the upstairs railing and crashes through the coffee table.

Deliberate mistake: In the scene where Marie is trying on shoes, a pair of powder blue high top Converse sneakers can be seen next to her feet. It must have been done intentionally, but since there is no trace of modern apparel anywhere else in the film (the closest would be the mere mention of hot pink dress fabric but, as it's not shown, we don't know what exactly Marie calls "hot pink") these shoes (and the fabric) can't be considered part of a thematic element or artistic license. Continuity mistake: When Lee Scoresby is talking to Iorek on Lee's balloon, Scoresby runs his fingers through his hair to pull it out of his face before he puts his hat back on. After replacing his hat atop his head, he brushes a few stray hairs behind his left ear. The shot briefly cuts to Iorek, then back to Lee. More hair than he originally had to tuck back is covering his left temple.

The Lion King 1½ (2004)

Factual error: This may have been considered before drawing it this way, but it's a mistake nonetheless: When Tinkerbell shows up at the end with all the other Disney characters to watch the movie, she is back lit and silhouetted just like everyone else, and so is the pixie dust she is trailing. This is done simply to resemble a dark theater full of patrons, not to play some sort of impromptu guessing game. Her pixie dust has always been luminescent so it should not appear as a shadow against the theater screen. It'd be impossible to be silhouetted to that degree if it gives off its own light.

Dan in Real Life (2007)

Continuity mistake: In the scene during the credits, the right shoulder strap on Marie's dress has fallen off her shoulder. Her body turns as she dances in the circle and her right shoulder is not visible momentarily. When it becomes visible again, her strap is up. No one touched her and she did not "shrug" it up.

Bubba Ho-Tep (2002)

Revealing mistake: When the coroners are taking Kemosabe's body to the hearse, the one who falls over the porch wall is wearing calf padding which can be seen bulging under his pant leg before he falls.

1408 (2007)

Plot hole: Time inside room 1408 moves differently than time outside it, as evidenced by the fact that Mike spends weeks or even months in what he thinks is his home in California, while in reality he is still "in" the room. The Hotel's manager states that no one has ever lasted more than an hour inside 1408. He goes on to cite many examples where the guests died after just a few minutes. No previously sane individual commits suicide after spending a few minutes in an eerie room, obviously, so the only explanation is the one offered by the "receptionist" over the phone, albeit in fewer words: guests in room 1408, while experiencing their own time frame inside the room, are in fact reliving the same hour over and over according to the rest of the world's time frame. This being the case, Mike's ex-wife should not have showed up at the climax since Mike's hour had just started over, undoing the call he placed to her earlier in the film but later in the hour. Whether or not the film makers intended this inference is irrelevant as the movie plainly lays out these conditions and must therefore adhere to them lest a plot hole be created. [This keeps being debated back and forth - ultimately there's not going to be any absolute resolution, so it's being locked down as a mistake and viewers will just have to make up their own minds - Jon.]

Casino Royale (2006)

Revealing mistake: When Bond is running up the crane to catch up with the bomb maker at the construction site there is traction tape, to help Daniel Craig keep his footing on the smooth metal surface, visible on the crane. It wasn't put there as though for the construction crew's use because it is only placed on the part of the crane that we actually see Bond running on.

Continuity mistake: When Splinter is holding the Shredder over the building's ledge, the cord on Mike's discarded nunchaku changes position in relation to the spear's point. It moves closer to the point for a single shot, then moves back to its original position in the subsequent shots.

Children of Men (2006)

Revealing mistake: The infant baby was computer animated in every scene in which the face appeared. Even the feet were obviously touched up by computer in the hallway scene. The lighting isn't quite right, the skin texture isn't quite right, and the child's face is just too animated.

Children of Men (2006)

Revealing mistake: The ping-pong ball that Theo and Julian pass between their mouths is lit inconsistently with the lighting in the car. It also moves independently of the confines of the actors' mouths. The ball was digitally added after filming this scene. (00:26:10)

Spider-Man 2 (2004)

Revealing mistake: In the scene where Spider-Man is pushed inside the train by Dr. Octopus and grabs the bar then leaps to the next: The passengers are all looking where they've been told Spider-Man is supposed to be, but none of them are actually looking at him, revealing that he is a CGI image and not an actor.
