Godzilla (1998)

Revealing mistake: When Godzilla's foot steps "around" Animal, then lifts, the large wall of windows in the background has no reflection of the foot, leg or any portion of the monster, yet our viewing angle would require it. (00:30:00)

The West Wing (1999)

Bad Moon Rising - S2-E19

Revealing mistake: Oliver Babish's office has windows in a location it can not possibly have them. Jed and Leo are in continuous conversation as they leave the 'normal' West Wing set at the end of a hall (See http://www.whitehousemuseum.org/special/wwtv.htm where the words 'Press Briefing Room' are - that's where they turn to their right). They walk a few steps then turn right again and ahead of them is Babish's office, with windows straight ahead. If this had been a single continuous set, Babish's office would be located in the stair area to the left of the press briefing room, and the windows would offer a view of the hallway that runs between the lower corners of Leo and C.J.'s offices (seen at 3:36), not the outside world. The West Wing (1999)

In the Shadow of Two Gunmen: Part I - S2-E1

Revealing mistake: When the Secret Service drags Hoynes out of the White House lobby, they exit through the main entrance, doors that are shown in episodes before and after as leading directly outside. But instead of seeing a convincing night exterior this time, the flashing cameras reveal nothing but a blue studio backdrop is out there. (00:06:30)

Lethal Weapon 2 (1989)

Revealing mistake: When the small car is launched into the air, the underside is plainly visible, showing no normal working parts like a suspension or drivetrain. It has a flat pan bottom with a square-tube support structure to make it very light for its flight and to retain it shape. (Director's Cut.) (00:42:40)

Lethal Weapon (1987)

Revealing mistake: A short shot from inside the bus looking forward at the moment of impact shows a wall of water fires up onto the windshield. This 'water barrel' technique is used to lessen damage and injury on many public roadways, and is used here to save the bus for use in another take - the one when it actually does hit the car a split-second of movie-time later. Lethal Weapon 2 (1989)

Revealing mistake: When the windshield is shot up, Riggs knocks the glass off the car. But interior shots that follow show Riggs' tall, fluffy hair isn't moving at all in the high-speed air rushing into the car. (00:02:15)

Lethal Weapon (1987)

Revealing mistake: When the bus hits the car, the car launches into the air, propelled by a special-effects 'roll cannon'. The cylindrical slug that is fired out of the bottom of the car is seen rolling ahead of the bus toward the bottom of the screen. (01:42:15)

Revealing mistake: The opening chase has a police car chasing a white Countach. We hear the officers talking on the radio, reporting the chase events, etc., yet the driver is alone and is always seen with his hands on the wheel, never holding the radio's microphone. (00:02:00)

Cannonball Run II (1984)

Revealing mistake: The opening chase has a police car chasing a white Countach. We hear two officers talking to each other. There are times they are talking to others on the radio, as well. But every shot that allows us to see inside the patrol car, only a driver is in it. (00:04:15)

Ronin (1998)

Revealing mistake: At the start of the chase, the Mercedes slides around a bit, and it is comically obvious that the tire smoke has been poorly painted onto the scene. (00:45:15)

The Seven-Ups (1973)

Revealing mistake: After the blue sedan turns left, away from Central Park, a long sequence of small 'leaps' begins for both cars as they go through intersections along one long street. Our view changes from inside the sedan, to outside it, inside the coupe, and outside it, back and forth repeatedly. It is painfully obvious this sequence was artificially extended by randomizing the various camera angles, all showing the same few seconds of time, over and over. The best evidence is the red 1973 Lemans that is passed again and again and again. (00:57:35)

The Seven-Ups (1973)

Revealing mistake: During the car chase sequence, the same white 1965 Rambler American (with bent drivers/front fender) is seen repeatedly getting 'in the way'. (00:54:20 - 00:56:15)

Transformers (2007)

Revealing mistake: When Devastator (the tank-bot) is activated and exits its base through a fence, the upper, obviously-rubber, cannon barrels wiggle around. (01:39:15)

Deja Vu (2006)

Deja Vu mistake picture

Revealing mistake: When the truck leaps off the ferry, the underside is seen, exposing the still-flaming 'roll cannon' opening in the rear floorboard. This cannon is what caused the rear of the truck to rise, sending the truck flipping through the air. (01:52:30)

The Hitcher (1986)

The Hitcher mistake picture

Revealing mistake: When Jim hits the brakes in his stolen patrol car, the two pursuing police cars turn and flip over and over. As they roll, the 'roll cannon' is visible on the underside of one of the cars (a round steel tube in a hole in the floor) and at left, the two cannon slugs from both cars bounce down the road. This device fires the slug downward, and the force behind it lifts the car when the slug hits the road, launching the car over.

The Fog (2005)

Revealing mistake: When Stevie's car is hit by the delivery truck, the side shot that shows the car beginning to roll reveals there is no engine in the car, as we can see through the front fender wells to the truck as it passes on the far side of the car. (01:15:40)

Revealing mistake: As Lady Tottington leaves Wallace's home, the ivy between the windows on the left suddenly changes a bit- a portion gets squashed flat (about 2 bricks down and to the left of the house address numbers) as the area gets a bit blurry. The modelers must have not noticed bumping it while working with the doll. (00:57:15)

Season 1 generally

Revealing mistake: Throughout the entire run of the series, special effects shots are repeated over and over, often half a dozen times in the same episode. Budget problems forced the practice, but at times it is so pronounced as to become a distraction. The same Cylon raider banking to the side, hit by laser fire and exploding outward to its sides, is probably seen more often than any other single shot in the show. It is flipped many times so that it can bank left, then be used to bank right, providing two shots for the price of one.

Battlestar Galactica mistake picture

The Gun on Ice Planet Zero (1) - S1-E8

Revealing mistake: When the 'snow ram' loses power and stops, the crew jumps out to see what has happened. The snow surface behind the ram is undisturbed and trackless, as if the ram has been stationary long enough for its tracks to be erased. This is because it is actually on a set and has not moved at all. (00:34:00)
