Sliders (1995)

Trivia: On the equation on Quinn's chalkboard, T squared ("T2") appears in several places, a nod to Tracey Torme, Co-director of the series.

Miracle (2004)

Factual error: The movie makes it clear that Jack O'Callahan's first game since his injury was the game against the Soviet Union. In actuality, he had some playing time in the preliminary game against West Germany.

Sliders (1995)

Pilot (1) - S1-E1

Question: In the pilot episode, the wormhole physically travels to "capture" Quinn and bring him back to his own world, after his very first slide. How did the wormhole know where Quinn was?

Matty Blast

Chosen answer: Remember at first Quinn's timer is working perfectly (it's only because they slide off the ice age world early that it begins to malfunction) & given Quinn's intellect he would have devised a way that he could open a wormhole near him so he wouldn't be trapped on that world for 29 years.

Miracle (2004)

Factual error: Jack O'Callahan was missing a couple of front teeth during the games. He had no missing teeth in the movie.

Minority Report (2002)

Question: In the movie there are two different types of eye-scanners. The cops and the spiders use a beam of light that has to scan a person's eye for 1-4 seconds to identify the person. Yet advertisements, stores, and the subway use eye-scanners that can identify a person in what seems like 1/16th of a second (similar to a camera). Does anyone know if both types of eye-scanners exist, and if so, why are they different?

Matty Blast

Chosen answer: Retinal scanning does exist and is actually in use, but not at the level shown in the movie. The "Ad" scanners are less accurate and not definitive, while the police scanners can provide absolute identification. It's the difference between identifying someone by their face vs. running their fingerprints.

Question: Does anyone else's DVD freeze for a second, right after Brooks says, "I wanna see that kid in the net who wouldn't take the test"?

Matty Blast

Chosen answer: I don't recall any intentional "freezes" when I saw this in theaters. I don't have the DVD but I'm assuming your talking about a layer change, if this scene is about halfway through the movie. It's a common thing on many DVDs when, on a dual-layered disc, the laser begins to read the other layer.

Miracle (2004)

Miracle mistake picture

Continuity mistake: The fan who came out onto the ice and draped a flag around Jim Craig's shoulders (a cameo by the film's director, by the way) put it on upside-down. The camera cuts away, then cuts back, and it's suddenly right-side up.

Miracle (2004)

Factual error: There indeed was a moment in the game (vs. USSR) where Jim Craig was shaken up, but contrary to what's shown in the movie, the hit did not happen as the Soviets scored a goal. Furthermore, if a goalie is that flagrantly knocked down and out so that a teammate can get a shot off, it should be a two-minute penalty for "goaltender interference" and the goal disallowed.

Miracle (2004)

Trivia: To boost the team's confidence, Brooks often made fun of Soviet captain Boris Mikhailov, saying that he looked like comedian Stan Laurel.

Miracle (2004)

Trivia: When Jim Craig said to Coach Brooks, "Nobody understands your stupid sayings," he was referring to a notebook that the players kept, where they listed all of the unique things Brooks said. They called his sayings "Brooksisms." Some examples: "This isn't weaving for weaving's sake."; "You don't have enough talent to win on talent alone." and, "You're playing worse every day, and today you're playing like it's next month."

Miracle (2004)

Factual error: In the movie, Ken Dryden says something like, "In Madison Square Garden this team played very tentative hockey, very much in awe of the Soviet team. Tonight, they're playing like they're not in awe of anybody." He actually said that during team USA's 7-3 rout of Czechoslovakia.

Miracle (2004)

Factual error: In the movie, after Mark Johnson scores the last-second goal in the first period against the Soviet Union, the ref indicates that the goal counts and time has expired. Both teams therefore go back to the dressing rooms. In the actual game, the ref ordered the timekeeper to put one second back on the clock, and called the players (most of whom had already gone back to the dressing rooms) back out to the ice for a face-off, to make the end of the period official.

Miracle (2004)

Factual error: Even though Jack O'Callahan was injured and couldn't play until the medal round, he still suited up for each game and skated during warm-ups. In the movie, he's wearing a suit and tie while on the bench.

Miracle (2004)

Trivia: How effective was the lesson coach Brooks taught the players by making them do all those sprints after the exhibition game against Norway? They had another game the next afternoon, and they obliterated their opponents 9-0, according to Rob McClanahan.

Miracle (2004)

Miracle (2004)

Factual error: The time clock digits on the scoreboard were not made up of individual round lights, as shown in the movie. They were made of illuminated bars, similar to the LED displays on alarm clocks.

Miracle (2004)

Trivia: If the US team would have only tied Finland in its gold-medal-winning game, it would have needed the Soviet victory over Sweden (later that same day) to still clinch the gold. When announcing the US-Finland game and explaining this scenario, Al Michaels called it "the ultimate irony," since the Americans would then be cheering the Soviets on to victory.
