Continuity mistake: As Dylan and Fuller approach the Horsemen's apartment, there is a close-up of the apartment door's doorknob that shows the door is only open a few inches. From a low angle of Dylan opening the door, the door is now open almost halfway. (01:16:25)
Continuity mistake: When Dylan and Alma go to interrogate Daniel, the first shot of Daniel shows him playing with some cards. On the desk is the card box the cards go in. In the next shot, the card box is suddenly in his hand and the cards are suddenly back in the box. Theatrical version only.
Continuity mistake: Once the teleport device is unveiled, Merritt walks the banker over to the device. During this shot, Henley is on the right side of the device, walks over to it, and begins to reach down for something, but by the next shot, she is right back where she started and not reaching down for anything. Continuity mistake: After the Horsemen have left the FBI, Fuller says to Dylan "Guess who was sitting there in the back..." During this shot, two men and a woman are visible in the background are about to walk down a flight of stairs. 2 shots later, there is no sign of them. Then they are visible walking on the sidewalk when the camera is on Dylan in the next shot. In this shot, they walk past Dylan. But 2 shots later, they are still yet to walk past Dylan. (00:32:30)
Continuity mistake: After arriving at 5 Pointz, someone tries to find the combination for the safe and it is revealed to have had a green handkerchief attached to the rear end. Dylan then pulls on the handkerchief and keeps pulling on it to reveal more coloured handkerchiefs until it stops and a timer is heard ticking. When the clicking sound is heard, Dylan is shown holding onto the knot between a purple handkerchief and a blue handkerchief. The shot then cuts to Agent Cowan saying "What is this?", but when the shot cuts back to Dylan, he is suddenly holding the knot between a blue handkerchief and a yellow handkerchief. Then in the next shot, his entire hand is held onto the blue handkerchief. (01:33:25)
Continuity mistake: Dylan and Alma go on a plane to New Orleans. In the first shot of the cabin, the shot pans from the passengers over to Dylan and Alma. When the shot stops panning, there are papers on Dylan's table. The paper on top is facing a 12 o'clock direction. Alma asks Dylan to pick out a card and he does. When he puts the card back, the paper on top is now facing a 10 o'clock direction without him ever moving it. (00:40:45)
Continuity mistake: When Daniel is handcuffed to the table and Dylan grabs him, the handcuffs come undone, then in next shot they are shut again. (00:28:15)
Continuity mistake: As Jack shows Dylan the cards (before throwing them at him), Dylan then says "Really?" And we can see there is already a huge red scratch on his cheek, which isn't caused until the cards are thrown. It couldn't have been from when Jack threw the flash paper at Dylan because no scratch mark was visible when that happened. (01:18:50)
Continuity mistake: In the flashback of the Horsemen programming the banker's mind, the banker is shown walking down a flight of steps and Daniel is shown throwing and catching some poker chips. He is first shown throwing two poker chips in the air, then in a close-up, it is only one poker chip being thrown into the air. (00:37:00)
Continuity mistake: When Jack is leaving the ferry, the man whose wallet Jack stole starts yelling at the people on the ground to stop him, pointing his right hand towards Jack. As soon as the next shot starts, Jack walking away from the ferry, with the man still visible in the far background and the man is now suddenly pointing with his left hand for a brief moment. Continuity mistake: When the truck arrives at 5 Pointz, it rattles when it stops, prompting Dylan to put his left hand on the inside door. His hand appears to be level with his shoulders at first, but when the shot cuts, his hand is much higher up, before moving it away from the door. (01:32:00)
Continuity mistake: When Arthur Tressler contacts Thaddeus to ask him how well is his money being spent, Thaddeus is shown inside his car with his camera crew and replies with "Exceedingly well." During this shot, Thaddeus is shown lowering his car window until it has reached the bottom. In the next shot, as Thaddeus says "See for yourself", the shot shows the window only half rolled down. Continuity mistake: When Dylan lands in the fake vault, he lands right next to the stand where all the money was placed on. When Alma, Thaddeus and Thaddeus' assistant enter the vault, he is suddenly standing almost a few meters away from the stand where all the money was placed. This has nothing to do with the camera angles because his hand landed on the stand as he landed in the vault. (00:36:05)
Continuity mistake: When Jack finds his tarot card near the start, he flips it over to see the date, time and location on the back. The way he holds the card changes between shots. (00:08:40)
Continuity mistake: When Daniel is in his room and pushes off the woman on top of him, he crawls over to the tarot card in his shoe. When the woman yells "Are you kidding me?", the left shoelace is lying over the left side of the shoe, but when Daniel approaches the shoe in the next shot, the shoelace isn't in the same place. Continuity mistake: When Thaddeus is first introduced, he is in the audience recording the Horsemen's Las Vegas show on his phone. In the shot where the camera pans from the stage over to Thaddeus in his seat, there is a man sitting next to him applauding with the crowd and there is a watch on the man's wrist. A couple of shots later, when Thaddeus tells the usher he is going to put his phone away, the watch has vanished. (00:16:00)
Continuity mistake: Just before Henley notices the tarot card in the piranha tank, her position in front of the tank changes between shots. (00:09:00)
Continuity mistake: When Henley is being cheered at by the crowd after finishing her trick, she gives a member of the crowd a fist bump, but in the next shot, she has her hand placed over the man's fist. (00:07:20)
Continuity mistake: When the Horsemen discover the "Now You Don't" card, the first shot shows the edge of the card to be resting on the lining on the floor. When Daniel picks the card up, almost half of the card is shown to be resting on the lining in the floor. The same goes for the rose. (00:12:35)
Continuity mistake: When Jack performs his magic trick on the spoon, a man figures out how he did it and demands $100. In a close-up of his wallet, the wallet is opened. But in the wide angle, the wallet is suddenly closed. (00:05:05)
Answer: The mirror was inserted at an angle, so that the reflection was the ceiling and not what was in front of them. It's the same principle for how periscopes work.
