In the Jewish religion, it's considered a sin to have a tattoo, so someone who is religious would never have one.
Correction: There are several people from every religion who commit sins like this, doesn't mean he isn't still religious.

Correction: Her other bags are being unloaded by a student orientation helper who can be seen in the background. You don't seem him again, but I think it's okay to imply he eventually delivers the bags to Beca's room.
