9.7/10. The first of a great trilogy. Leslie Nielsen's comedic timing is perfect. George Kennedy, Priscilla Presley, and Ricardo Montalban were all great because they got the style of movie. Lt Frank Drebin is truly one of the funniest characters of all time. I would say this is what launched the idea of Angie Tribecca into the minds of Rashida Jones, Steve Carell and Nancy Carell. The show was a tribute to the genius of this comedic legend and the Zucker brothers and Abrahams team.

Factual error: When Frank knocks out the Umpire and begins to change into his clothes, the umpire is wearing white underwear. All umpires wear black in case the seat of their pants rip so the game can continue.

Trivia: There is a trailer to this movie with an additional gag. After Ludwig has demonstrated his image of an ideal assassin to Papshmir, he sits down with the revolver used in the demonstration which had turned out to be empty. In the trailer shot (in a closeup of Montalban) the gun unexpectantly goes off.

Question: Why does the snitch at the pier claim that Nordburg was a dirty cop?

Dangar

Answer: Because Nordberg was working undercover in Ludwig's organization; not knowing this, the snitch would only see him working with Ludwig's crew, and would thus believe he was dirty.
