Continuity mistake: When Captain Hook walks across the ship and up to the pirate that bet against him finding Peter Pan, we see Peter standing to the side (between the pirate and Hook) and he moves the eyepatch that he is wearing across from his right eye to his left eye. As he does this, the eyepatch strap falls off the right spectacle. But in the next shot the eyepatch strap has now moved back up and is resting perfectly across the glass frame of the right spectacle. (00:40:20)

Continuity mistake: In the opening scene at the school play as the shots change from wide views of the audience, to closeups of Moira and the children, the positions of everyone sitting around them continues to change. In addition the people standing up in the background keep moving, and in some shots we can see people standing with camcorders, but then in the next shots there is nobody with a camcorder visible. Continuity mistake: When Hook is talking to Peter on the ship, he stuffs the eyepatch and glasses Peter's wearing into his mouth to act like a gag. Then when Hook removes them from his mouth, we see that he takes the eyepatch from out his mouth twice between angles. (00:42:35)

Continuity mistake: After Smee introduces Captain Hook for his appearance on the ship (to make his speech to his fellow pirates), as he emerges from the door he leaves it wide open behind him. But as the scene continues and Hook is talking, pacing back and forth, etc., how wide open the door is keep changing (from wide open, half shut or practically closed). (00:38:30)

Hamster

Continuity mistake: Peter is underwater, bound with ties around his hands but then three mermaids swim to him and help him. However the amount of glitter that is spread on the mermaids differs; this is especially evident with the first bluehaired mermaid that kisses him - look at the amount on her hands as she kisses Peter and rests her hands on his shoulders. Continuity mistake: In the airplane, Jack begins to throw his baseball against the window, to show his Dad (Peter) that it is thick and will not break. When he does this, it causes the oxygen masks to be dropped down in front of them. Between shots the positions of the masks and the straps wrapped around them differs. In addition in the first shot Peter grabs them to stop them from swinging about, but in the next shot his hands are instantly back in his lap. (00:07:40)

Continuity mistake: After just arriving in Neverland, Peter comes across a gang of Pirates that take a fancy to the leather shoes he is wearing. A couple of the pirates in the gang bend down so they are almost to the floor, but as the shots differ they continue to change from either being bent over / standing up straight. (00:35:25)

Continuity mistake: When the family are on the airplane travelling to England, Maggie shows her father the drawing that Jack did. Between shots the way she holds the large sketchpad in her hands changes. (00:06:20)

Revealing mistake: After arriving in Neverland in the bedsheet parachute made by Tinkerbell, there is a shot of Peter poking his finger up through the bedsheet to make a hole for him to rip open. However you can clearly see a small pre-made tear in the sheet for where he could easily poke his finger through and rip a hole in the fabric. (00:34:25)

Continuity mistake: When Peter gets his happy thought, he floats just above the ground in his regular clothes. As he shoots upwards toward the top of the tree house and out, he suddenly has his Pan clothing on. After returning, he suddenly has his normal clothes.

Movie Nut

Continuity mistake: When Peter sneezes Tink into the dollhouse, the angle doesn't make sense, as they were parallel to the house, yet Tink goes flying into it straight, as if they had been perpendicular.

Knever

Visible crew/equipment: When Peter arrives in Neverland he walks up to some pirates and says, "I'm looking for someone". The pirates chase him and Tink beats them up. In one shot, when a pirate is being thrown from a balcony, there is a launch pad in between the slats.

Continuity mistake: When Captain Hook is bent down talking to Jack in the broken clock shop, in the first shot all of Jack's fringe is neatly sticking out from under his baseball cap, but after Hook places his hand on Jack, all of his fringe is now combed back under his cap and is not visible. Continuity mistake: When Peter flies up to find Tinkerbell in her lantern house, after he opens up the clock-face door and starts asking her what's wrong, as the scene progresses, Tink's arms keep moving from either being up by her face, to in her lap - and then when she turns around to face Peter, the position of her hands change from where they rest on her legs/knees. (01:39:50)

Hamster

Continuity mistake: Peter is hoisted out from the sea by the mermaids and then when he reaches the top of the mountain, he rolls down some rocks and through a small stream and then he finishes by sliding down a large area of snow. However at the end of it all, he is extremely dry and clean considering the previous ordeals. (00:48:50)

Hamster

Continuity mistake: When Peter is in the old burnt hideout, talking with Tinkerbell (just before he remembers his happy thought and re-learns to fly) he walks over to a small barrell that is covered in items (a glass bottle, rubble, scraps of paper and photos). Between the wideshot and then the closeup of the items sitting on the barrell, the items positions completely change and also some have vanished. (01:30:35)

Continuity mistake: When Peter first enters the Lost Boys' urban-style playground, he is suddenly startled by Lost Boys on skateboards that begin to circle him. But in the next shot focusing on one Lost Boy dunking a basketball through the hoop, you can see Peter in the background, only now the Lost Boys that were skating around him have disappeared. (00:54:20)

Audio problem: When Rufio withdraws his sword from the leather pouch he has tied around his leg (as he brings it out to brandish against Peter) it makes the sound of metal being withdrawn from a metal sheath, but the pouch is leather and couldn't allow the sword to make that sound effect. (00:54:40)

Hamster

Continuity mistake: When Tinkerbell is first visiting Peter in the nursery, she causes him to sneeze which results in her being blown into the doll's house. In this shot, the chair that is sitting next to the doll's house has a teddy bear on it which is laying flat on it's front. But in a following shot you can see that the teddy bear on the chair is now propped up nice and neatly, and additionally there are now extra items sitting next to the bear. (00:31:45)

Trivia: The name 'Wendy' was popularised for girls by the play of Peter Pan - JM Barrie adapted it from the way a neighbour's daughter mispronounced "friend." However, prior to PP, Wendy was a unisex nickname for both Gwendolyn and Wendell, also a name in its own right to a limited degree. More info here: http://www.wendy.com/wendyweb/history.html.

More trivia for Hook

Question: 1) I remember reading online once that some person in a band (not any of the ones mentioned in the trivia for this movie) lost a bet and appeared as one of Hook's pirates in this movie. Is this true and if yes who was it? 2) I also once read online that it is a tradition for Peter Pan movies to have the same actor to play Hook and somebody else in the movie. I don't remember Dustin Hoffman as anybody else in this movie. Was he somebody else in the movie?

Answer: (1) David Crosby and Jimmy Buffett both appear as part of Hook's crew - whether either of them is there as a result of losing a bet is unknown. (2) Traditionally, in stage productions of Peter Pan, the actor who plays Hook will also take on the minor role of Mr Darling, Wendy's father. As, in the story presented in the film, Wendy is now elderly, her father is likely long dead, and thus no opportunity exists to maintain the tradition. However, you can hear Dustin Hoffman as the voice of the pilot on the plane ride to London, giving a nod to the tradition.
