Other mistake: When Conan gathers flowers to "take to the girl", the flowers that he is holding as he mounts his camel, are very long-stemmed, and dark purple in color. In the next scene he is riding the camel and the flowers he is holding are not only very changing color as another post indicated, but they are also very fake plastic / fabric flowers. In the same scene, Conan is then seen wearing a strong of flowers around his neck, those too are very fake flowers. (01:05:00)
Conan the Barbarian (1982)
1 other mistake
Directed by: John Milius
Starring: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Max von Sydow, James Earl Jones, Sandahl Bergman
Continuity mistake: In the scene when Conan's mother is killed, we see her using both hands to hold her sword toward Thulsa Doom and his men. The camera cuts to young Conan and he is holding her right hand. When the camera cuts back to her, she is holding the sword with both hands again.
Trivia: In the scene where Conan is wrapped in a blanket and being painted to ward of the spirits, Arnold Schwarzenegger actually fell asleep while filming this.
Question: When Conan is learning how to use a sword, why did the teacher slap Conan in the face and then kick the other student in the chest?
Answer: Like an Army Drill Sargent, he was berating them for not doing it better. Toughening them to become the best they could be.
Also, the other student laughs at Conan's punishment, so the teacher kicks him to teach him some humility.
What exactly did Conan do wrong to make the teacher slap him?
This war master is reinforcing in Conan the "discipline of steel." The war master's gestures imply that he was not pleased with Conan's focus, his stance, and his sword/blade control. So the slaps were to further ingrain his rigorous training, in pursuance of Conan's mental and physical discipline.

Suggested correction: It's not an inmediate shot, there's plenty of time in between for her to change the grip.
