Continuity mistake: In the scene when Conan's mother is killed, we see her using both hands to hold her sword toward Thulsa Doom and his men. The camera cuts to young Conan and he is holding her right hand. When the camera cuts back to her, she is holding the sword with both hands again.

Conan steals the princess from Thulsa Doom, but Doom kills Conan's girl. Conan uses the princess as bait for Doom's soldiers, and leads them into a trap. Conan's dead girlfriend returns as a Valkyrie to save Conan and then disappears again. Conan kills the man who stole his father's sword, and the rest of Doom's troops. Conan later decapitates Thulsa Doom, burns down his temple, and returns the princess home. He becomes a king in his old age.
Nemesis Enforcer
King Osric: What daring! What outrageousness! What insolence! What arrogance... I salute you.
Trivia: In the scene where Conan is wrapped in a blanket and being painted to ward of the spirits, Arnold Schwarzenegger actually fell asleep while filming this.
Question: When Conan is learning how to use a sword, why did the teacher slap Conan in the face and then kick the other student in the chest?
Answer: Like an Army Drill Sargent, he was berating them for not doing it better. Toughening them to become the best they could be.
Also, the other student laughs at Conan's punishment, so the teacher kicks him to teach him some humility.
What exactly did Conan do wrong to make the teacher slap him?
This war master is reinforcing in Conan the "discipline of steel." The war master's gestures imply that he was not pleased with Conan's focus, his stance, and his sword/blade control. So the slaps were to further ingrain his rigorous training, in pursuance of Conan's mental and physical discipline.

Suggested correction: It's not an inmediate shot, there's plenty of time in between for her to change the grip.
